Carlos Martinez Sep 22 12:10am ET

St. Louis Cardinals closer Carlos Martinez saved his 23rd game of the season on Saturday, locking down a 9-8 win over the Cubs. Martinez tossed a scoreless inning, walking a batter and striking out two. He needed just 16 pitches to deliver a win for the Cardinals. Martinez hasn't been perfect in his first season as a closer, but 23 saves and a 3.38 ERA are both solid stats.

John Gant Sep 22 12:10am ET

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher John Gant earned his 11th win of the season on Saturday to improve to 11-1. He threw just two pitches, getting the only batter he faced out on his second pitch. Gant had some periods of being unhittable this season, but suffered through some less effective stretches as well. Overall, he's 11-1 with a 3.62 ERA.

Dakota Hudson Sep 22 12:10am ET

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Dakota Hudson only made it through three innings on Saturday, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks. He struck out two and needed 62 pitches (30 balls, 32 strikes) to get just nine outs. Hudson has been solid and is among the league leaders in wins, but tonight was a rare rough patch, raising his ERA to 3.45.

Brad Hand Sep 22 12:00am ET

Cleveland Indians closer Brad Hand tossed an inning on Saturday, his first appearance since September 9th. Hand has been unavailable due to a tired arm, but after MRI results came back clean, it was only a matter of time until he'd be back on the mound. Saturday's outing was a 13-pitch perfect inning where he struck out the side. He looks like he's all set to take back the ninth inning and should be working in save opportunities again before long.

Jordan Yamamoto Sep 21 8:53pm ET

Miami Marlins P Jordan Yamamoto (forearm) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Sept. 21, to start against the Washington Nationals.

Kyle Freeland Sep 21 6:33pm ET

Colorado Rockies SP Kyle Freeland (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Sept. 21, to make his first appearance since Aug. 20.

Max Muncy Sep 21 5:03pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Max Muncy (quadriceps) is out of the lineup Saturday, Sept. 21, after feeling tightness Friday night. He said he'd be playing if it were a playoff game.

    J.D. Martinez Sep 21 4:13pm ET

Boston Red Sox DH J.D. Martinez (groin) returns from a three-game absence Saturday, Sept. 21.

Mookie Betts Sep 21 4:13pm ET

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (foot) will play in the outfield Saturday, Sept. 21, after returning to the lineup as the Red Sox's designated hitter Friday.

Gleyber Torres Sep 21 1:03pm ET

New York Yankees INF Gleyber Torres (hamstring) had an MRI on his injured hamstring Saturday, Sept. 21. The results came back negative, but the Yankees plan to proceed with caution with Torres for the remainder of the regular season.

Javier Baez Sep 21 12:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (thumb) is unable to hit, but can still contribute to the team during Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Baez has a hairline fracture in his thumb, and can't grip the bat or wear a glove. However, his legs and fine and he's available to pinch run for this game. The Cubs are hopeful that Baez can return for the postseason, assuming the Cubs are able to clinch a spot. Baez won't have any DFS value as a pinch runner, so go ahead and ignore him.

Anthony Rizzo Sep 21 12:30pm ET

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Rizzo will bat leadoff and play first base versus righty Dakota Hudson. The Cubs seem to have good luck when Rizzo is batting first for them. Hudson has been pitching well this season posting a 3.35 ERA, but Rizzo still remains a reliable DFS option. Whenever Rizzo is batting first something good always seems to happen for the Cubs.

Giancarlo Stanton Sep 21 12:30pm ET

New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (rest) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Stanton received a routine rest day on Friday, but is refreshed and ready to play on Saturday. Stanton will bat cleanup and play left field versus righty T.J. Zeuch. Stanton has been on a tear with the bat since returning to the lineup. He's a reliable DFS option for Saturday, so players should take notice.

DJ LeMahieu Sep 21 12:20pm ET

New York Yankees second baseman DJ LeMahieu (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The MVP candidate will get a rest day here, but should be back in the lineup on Sunday. Tyler Wade will bat eighth and play second base versus righty T.J. Zeuch. Wade has been hot at the plate over the last two weeks, but doesn't have much power upside with the bat. He could be a cheap DFS option for Saturday, but don't expect him to knock one out of the park.

    From RotoBaller

Max Muncy Sep 21 12:20pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy (quad) is unlikely to suit up for Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Muncy tweaked his quad in the seventh inning of Friday's game versus the Rockies. He returned last week from a wrist injury, so the Dodgers don't need him going down again. The Dodgers believe the quad injury is minor, but it sounds like Muncy will do some testing on Saturday.

    From RotoBaller

Kolten Wong Sep 21 12:10pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Wong injured his left hamstring during Thursday's game and didn't play on Friday. He underwent an MRI, but the team hasn't revealed the results of the test. The Cardinals will likely be cautious with Wong as the playoffs approach. Tommy Edman will cover second base and bat second versus lefty Jose Quintana. Edman has been incredible with the bat over the last two weeks and should be in all DFS lineups on Saturday.

    From RotoBaller

Justin Smoak Sep 21 12:10pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Justin Smoak (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. Smoak will get a routine day off here to rest, but he's having a down year with the bat anyway. Brandon Drury will cover first base and bat seventh versus lefty James Paxton. Drury hasn't been great with the bat over the last two weeks, and doesn't seem like a valuable DFS option here.

    From RotoBaller

Willson Contreras Sep 21 12:00pm ET

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Contreras will get a day off here after playing in five straight games. Victor Caratini will draw the start at catcher and bat sixth versus righty Dakota Hudson. Caratini doesn't have much upside in terms of power, so he's not a great DFS option here.

    From RotoBaller

Gleyber Torres Sep 21 11:50am ET

New York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres (leg) will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of his leg injury. Torres left Friday's game after slipping and injuring his leg on a defensive play. Torres is considered day-to-day at the moment, so more information should be known after the MRI.
