Matt Barnes May 20 2:40pm ET

Boston Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes earned his sixth hold Sunday, retiring the side in the eighth inning of a 4-3 win over Houston. Barnes was near perfect in the Week of May 13, allowing just one hit in 12 batters faced, while also punching out seven. The 28-year-old hasn't recorded a save since May 7, and has moved into more of a high-leverage role, as the team's best reliever. The right-hander holds a 1.42 ERA in 19 innings pitched, with a 35:4 K:BB, while also stranding runners at a 98% clip. Brandon Workman earned the save Sunday, so it's possible the Sox will continue to ride the hot hand, depending on the situation.

Wilmer Font May 20 2:40pm ET

Originally, the New York Mets were going to deploy Drew Gagnon as their opener for tonight's game, but now they have turned to Wilmer Font to take the ball first. Font has made two starts this season for the Mets, in which he went four innings (60 pitches) against the Padres and 2 1/3 innings against the Nationals (63 pitches). It seems as if Font is on more of a pitch count limit rather than an innings limit, but starting him on your team is not for the faint of heart, as he has a 7.08 ERA over 20 1/3 innings on the season.

Chicago White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, May 20. The team also optioned OF Nick Delmonico to Class AAA Charlotte.

Seattle Mariners RP Anthony Swarzak was traded along with cash considerations to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for RPs Arodys Vizcaino and Jesse Biddle on Monday, May 20.

Brandon Workman May 20 2:30pm ET

Boston Red Sox reliever Brandon Workman nailed down his first major league save Sunday, in a 4-3 win over Houston. The 30-year-old needed 16 pitches to get through the ninth, fanning two and walking one. Workman has been solid this season, mainly serving in the seventh inning role. He hosts a 2.21 ERA in 20 1/3 innings, however, he has struggled with walks, carrying a 30:15 K:BB. The Sox bullpen continues to be crowded, as Ryan Brasier who leads the team with six saves, was looked over in favor of Workman on Sunday. Brasier pitched just twice through the last seven days with a 0:4 K:BB, so its possible Workman has surpassed him for higher-leverage opportunities moving forward.

Eloy Jimenez May 20 2:30pm ET

The Chicago White Sox have activated outfielder Eloy Jimenez prior to their series opener against the Houston Astros. Jimenez had suffered a right ankle sprain on April 26th and has been on the injured list since April 28th. He made five rehab appearances with Triple-A Charlotte and he was 7-for-22 (.318 average) with a home run and an RBI. So far this season, Jimenez has a .241 average with three home runs and eight RBI in 21 games for the White Sox. Jimenez is a must-start in all formats and if someone in your league dropped the outfielder to the waiver wire, I highly advise you make them pay on their mistake by adding him.

Jake Barrett May 20 2:13pm ET

New York Yankees RP Jake Barrett was recalled from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, May 20.

Jesse Biddle May 20 2:10pm ET

The Atlanta Braves have traded right-handed relief pitcher Arodys Vizcaino and left-handed relief pitcher Jesse Biddle to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for right-handed relief pitcher Anthony Swarzak. Vizcaino is out for the season with a labrum injury and will be a free agent following the season. Biddle had made 15 appearances for the Braves this season with a 5.40 ERA before getting demoted to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he was much more effective with a 3.38 ERA in four appearances. Swarzak is an intriguing piece, as he was successful in the bullpen for multiple seasons, but the past two years have not been as nice to him, as he has a 5.85 ERA in his last 44 appearances. A change of scenery may be in the best interest of Swarzak, and is the only player in this trade worth monitoring to see how the Braves deploy him.

Patrick Corbin May 20 1:50pm ET

Washington Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin should be able to feast on the lowly New York Mets on Monday night. Corbin, who enters Monday's game with a 4-1 record and a 2.91 ERA, will take on a New York offense that was just shut out in back-to-back games by the Miami Marlins. To say the Mets offense is struggling would be an understatement. To strengthen the left-hander's case tonight, Corbin is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA against the Mets this season in three starts.

    From RotoBaller

Luke Weaver May 20 1:50pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Luke Weaver could be one of the top pitching options on the slate Monday in a matchup against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Weaver has been impressive this season, entering the game with a 3.16 ERA and a 3-2 record. The young righty has held right-handed hitters to a .239 batting average this year and will face a right-handed heavy Padres team in a pitcher friendly park. The only downside to Weaver's matchup is his mound opponent, Chris Paddack, who may limit the D-backs offense and, therefore, Weaver's chance at a win.

    From RotoBaller

Anthony Rendon May 20 1:40pm ET

Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon left the ballpark again on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. Rendon was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, his eighth long ball of the season. The 28-year-old has been sensational thus far in 2019, slashing .331/.416/.669 in 32 games. Rendon is strengthening his claim as one of the top hitting options in all of fantasy.

    From RotoBaller

Luke Gregerson May 20 1:40pm ET

The St. Louis Cardinals have officially placed right-handed relief pitcher Luke Gregerson on waivers. The 35-year-old had pitched in six games for the Cardinals this season, in which he was lit up for a 7.94 ERA and gave up 11 hits and five runs in just 5 2/3 innings of work. His Cardinals career comes to a close with (remarkably) a 0-0 record, but a 7.36 ERA in 18 appearances across the past two seasons.

    From RotoBaller

Drew Gagnon May 20 12:30pm ET

New York Mets pitcher Drew Gagnon will be utilized as the opener Monday night against Washington. This will be the first start of the year for Gagnon, who has pitched 11 innings so far in six games this season. Gagnon has been effective lately, as he has not allowed a run in his last five outings covering 5 2/3 innings. Gagnon is not expected to work deep into the game, as he has not gone more than three innings in an outing since April 16. This has the makings of a full-on bullpen game for the struggling Mets.

    From RotoBaller

Eric Sogard May 20 12:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Eric Sogard(thumb) has been removed from the lineup Monday with a left thumb sprain. Sogard was originally slated to hit leadoff in the Blue Jays' Monday matinee against the Red Sox. Since joining the Blue Jays this season, Sogard has been on a tear, hitting .295 with a .904 OPS in 24 games. The normally light-hitting second baseman is playing well above his usual production, as his career OPS is just .638 over his nine-year MLB career. If you've taken advantage of his hot start, it would be wise to try and sell high, as there are no indications of Sogard's early-season production being sustainable.

    From RotoBaller

Giancarlo Stanton May 20 12:00pm ET

New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (biceps) has been placed in Tampa on a rehab assignment beginning on Monday. The slugger has not played since March 31 after straining his left biceps muscle. Last season, his first in the Bronx, Stanton clubbed 38 home runs and drove in 100 runs while playing in 158 games. Stanton beginning his rehab stint is a welcome sign for his fantasy owners because it shows he is ready for game action after missing nearly two months already. This progression in his recovery should allow for Stanton to return to the Yankees lineup sometime in the next week.
