Xavier Cedeno May 22 5:03pm ET

Chicago Cubs RP Xavier Cedeno (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, May 22, because of left wrist inflammation. The team also recalled RP Rowan Wick from Class AAA Iowa.

Harrison Bader May 22 5:00pm ET

X-rays on St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Harrison Bader's (elbow) came back negative after he left the game early in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Wednesday after being hit by a pitch, according to manager Mike Shildt. It remains to be seen if Bader will be in the lineup for Game 2 Wednesday night. Don't be surprised if Jose Martinez is starting in the outfield in Game 2, as he came in to replace Bader in Game 1. Bader's injury doesn't seem serious, though, so he shouldn't miss much time moving forward. As more of a defensive specialist, he really only has appeal in NL-only leagues.

George Springer May 22 4:50pm ET

Houston Astros outfielder George Springer (back) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday. Springer has been out of the lineup since Sunday, but he should be able to avoid the injured list and should be back in the lineup by this weekend. The 29-year-old has arguably been one of the best hitters in baseball thus far, slashing .313/.396/.654 with 17 homers, 41 runs, 42 RBI and four steals, so the Astros and fantasy owners will want him back as soon as possible. Jake Marisnick is in center field again and is hitting ninth against White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova on Wednesday. Marisnick has swung it well in limited chances this year, but his daily value is limited in the nine hole.

    From RotoBaller

Javier Baez May 22 4:50pm ET

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (heel) will return to the Cubs starting lineup on Wednesday and bat fourth. Baez left Sundays game with a heel contusion and didnt make an appearance until he pinch-hit and drove in the winning run Tuesday night. Baez will face rookie Cole Irvin Wednesday and should be started everyday that hes in the lineup.

    From RotoBaller

Jefry Rodriguez May 22 4:50pm ET

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Jefry Rodriguez only made it through four innings in Wednesday's start, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks. He struck out three and gave up a home run. The loss dropped Rodriguez to 1-4, but his 4.08 ERA is decent enough for a fill-in starter. He's fine every fifth day for Cleveland, but he shouldn't be rostered in most fantasy leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Edwin Diaz May 22 4:50pm ET

The New York Mets are apparently willing to use closer Edwin Diaz for multi-inning saves now after previously being against the notion. Fantasy owners won't complain if Diaz gets more save opportunities because of this, but you have to wonder how it might affect his health and effectiveness as the season progresses. The hard-throwing right-hander has 11 saves, a 1.93 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and healthy 28 strikeouts in his 18 2/3 innings of work. Despite New York's struggles, Diaz remains a high-end fantasy closing option.

    From RotoBaller

Giancarlo Stanton May 22 4:50pm ET

The New York Yankees returned outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (calf) from his rehab assignment with High-A Tampa with left calf tightness and placed him back on the 10-day injured list. Injuries continue to be a problem for the slugging 29-year-old, and he hasn't played in a major league game since March 31. It's unclear when he'll return to the Yankees lineup, but fantasy owners must be even more patient while waiting for him to come back. The longer he's out, the more time that gives Clint Frazier and Brett Gardner to make noise in New York's outfield. Stay tuned for more updates on Stanton's timetable for a return.

    From RotoBaller

Michael Wacha May 22 4:40pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Michael Wacha did not pitch well in the first game of a double header against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and three walks. He struck out three and allowed a home run. Wacha took the loss to drop his record to 3-2 and his ERA went up to 5.59. He's shown flashes of upside here and there, but this season has mostly been a struggle for Wacha so far. He's reaching the point of only being usable in excellent matchups.

    From RotoBaller

Michael Conforto May 22 4:30pm ET

New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto (concussion) started baseball activities on Wednesday by swinging a bat "real easy, real laid back," according to manager Mickey Callaway. However, there's still no timetable for his return and he may not come off the seven-day concussion injured list when he's eligible on Friday. Fantasy owners will want Conforto back as soon as possible. He was hitting .271/.406/.521 with nine home runs, 27 runs, 21 RBI and three steals before his injury. There's a chance he returns this weekend or early next week, barring any setbacks.

    From RotoBaller

Adrian Sanchez May 22 4:13pm ET

Washington Nationals 1B Matt Adams (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, May 22. The team also optioned INF Adrian Sanchez to Class AA Harrisburg.

Tyler Anderson May 22 4:13pm ET

Colorado Rockies RHP Tyler Anderson (knee) was recalled from Class AAA Albuquerque Wednesday, May 22, and placed on the 60-day injured list.

Justin Verlander May 22 4:10pm ET

Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander is enjoying another eye-popping season after dominating the White Sox on Tuesday. Verlander (8-1) struck out 12 hitters and allowed only one hit, a solo home run, in the Astros 5-1 win. The right-hander is one of the surest bets in DFS right now, posting a 2.24 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP and holding opponents to a .143 batting average through 11 starts. Verlander's current K/9 rate of 11.07 would be the second highest of his career and has allowed only four hits over his last 22 innings pitched. The future Hall of Famer will be a must-start when he takes the mound next.

    From RotoBaller

Matt Adams May 22 4:10pm ET

The Washington Nationals activated first baseman Matt Adams (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and optioned infielder/outfielder Adrian Sanchez to Double-A Harrisburg in a corresponding move. Adams is starting at first base and is hitting fifth on Wednesday against Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom. The power-hitting Adams will likely share first base duties with Howie Kendrick until Ryan Zimmerman (foot) returns from the injured list. The 30-year-old is hitting .250 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 64 at-bats this year. He's a decent DFS candidate against certain right-handers for his pop. Wednesday isn't one of those times against deGrom.

    From RotoBaller

Jeff McNeil May 22 4:10pm ET

New York Mets infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday after he felt some left hamstring tightness on Tuesday. McNeil doesn't think the injury is serious and expects to be back in the lineup on Thursday. J.D. Davis is starting in left field and is hitting second, while Todd Frazier is manning the hot corner and batting fifth against Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer. Davis has been swinging a hot bat but faces a very tough matchup against Washington's ace. McNeil hasn't done much in the counting stats (two homers, 15 RBI), but he's been great for your team batting average with a slash line of .333/.418/.461 in 165 at-bats.

    From RotoBaller

Wade Davis May 22 4:03pm ET

Colorado Rockies RP Wade Davis (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, May 22, because of a left oblique strain. The team also selected the contract of RP Jairo Diaz from Class AAA Albuquerque.

Mike Trout May 22 4:00pm ET

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout heads into Wednesday's action with four extra-base hits over his last five games and is slugging .625 over his last seven played. Trout is off to another fantastic start this season and now is slashing .281/.413/.594 in the month of May with five doubles and five home runs. The Angels offense has been hot and cold all season but nothing seems to affect Trout. His current on base percentage of .457 is just a few ticks off his career high and his best days still seem to be ahead of him this season. An early season groin injury appears to be fully in the rear view mirror and Trout is an elite fantasy play in any format.

    From RotoBaller

Brent Honeywell May 22 4:00pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Brent Honeywell (elbow) will rest for another week but could resume throwing next week if all goes well. He has been shut down since mid-April with a nerve issue in his forearm as he recovers from Tommy John surgery in February of 2018. The team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was hoping to be an option for the Rays rotation around midseason, but now that is up in the air. The right-hander has high-end upside at the top of a rotation and remains worth stashing in dynasty and deep mixed leagues for now.
