Jakob Junis Sep 17 10:10am ET

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Jakob Junis looks to be done for 2019. Manager Ned Yost told reporters on Monday that the 27-year-old pitcher is starting to fatigue, so he's making a lot of mistakes. Junis is tied for the American League lead in starts made this season at 31. It's been a long season for the third-year player. His 5.24 ERA isn't pretty, his 1.43 WHIP is atrocious, and his strikeout rate of 8.42 was pretty much in line with last season while his walk rate bumped up more than 0.5 per nine innings. It's unlikely he'll be a recommended play for fantasy owners next season unless some type of dramatic improvement occurs over the winter.

Ian Kennedy Sep 17 10:00am ET

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Ian Kennedy did it. He reached the 30-save plateau in his first season as the team's closer, and he once again reminded all fantasy owners to never pay for saves and don't ignore closers on bad teams. Kennedy has now recorded saves in five straight appearances while allowing a total of three hits over the span. He continues to rock a strikeout rate over 10, his 3.28 ERA is excellent, and he's almost assuredly helping a number of teams in their push to win their league's playoffs. He's also made it a lot easier for Kansas City to swallow the last year of his $14M per year contract next season.

    From RotoBaller

Alex Gordon Sep 17 10:00am ET

Kansas City Royals veteran outfielder Alex Gordon smacked a two-run single in the top of the fifth inning on Monday to tie the game and help the team eventually take the win. It was a nice change of pace for the longtime Royal, as he's finishing out another mediocre (at best) season with the team. Gordon has continued to be a stud in left field, racking up seven more assists this season, but his offensive degradation has continued. He's become a smarter hitter, so at least his batting average isn't entirely in the toilet at .264, but he's on pace to finish with less than 15 home runs and less than 10 stolen bases for the fourth time in five years.

    From RotoBaller

Adalberto Mondesi Sep 17 9:50am ET

Kansas City Royals speedster Adalberto Mondesi may have missed a month of the season with a separated shoulder, but that hasn't stopped him from achieving one speed-based milestone for the organization. Mondesi smacked his 10th triple of the season on Monday night, becoming the first Royals player with double-digit triples in 16 years. The feat was last accomplished by Carlos Beltran in 2003. The injury certainly hindered Mondesi's season-long performance, but he's still going to finish the year with about 10 home runs, 10 triples, and 40 stolen bases while hitting around .270. That's an impressive year in just about every league, and fantasy owners should be drooling about his potential from here. He's still only 23 years old.

    From RotoBaller

Jorge Soler Sep 17 9:50am ET

Kansas City Royals slugger Jorge Soler hit a bomb way over the center field wall in the top of the fourth inning in Oakland on Monday night to catch Mike Trout in the American League home run race. With Trout out for the season, Soler's mammoth blast may help him write another piece of Royals history, as he's likely to be the first member of the organization to ever win a home run crown. Soler's nearest active competition in the AL are Gleyber Torres and Nelson Cruz, who are both at 37 home runs. It's been a wonderful season for Soler as he's reminded everyone why he was a sought-after prospect. He's certainly bloomed now.
