Nelson Cruz Aug 18 2:10pm ET

Minnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz may return from the injured list Monday when first eligible. He landed on the shelf last weekend with a wrist injury, but has made a speedy recovery as expected. Cruz has been on fire in the second half hitting .333 with 16 homers in 25 games showing little age as a 39-year-old. He's been limited to 87 games this year, but has produced nearly full-season totals with 32 dingers, 76 RBI, and a .294 batting average this season. Cruz will hopefully join the Twins for a six-game homestand this week as they continue to battle the Indians for the AL Central title.

Mike Trout Aug 18 2:00pm ET

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is getting a breather Sunday with Brian Goodwin taking his spot in center field and batting leadoff against White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease. Trout has had only two days off since the All-Star Game and gets a well-deserved breather with a double-header scheduled later this week versus the Rangers. He's having another MVP-type campaign with 41 homers, 99 runs, 96 RBI, and a .298 batting average, remaining one of the most reliable players in fantasy baseball.

Sean Doolittle Aug 18 1:53pm ET

Washington Nationals RP Sean Doolittle (knee) was placed on the 0-day injured list Sunday, Aug. 18, with right knee tendinitis. In a corresponding move, RP Kyle McGowin was recalled from Double-A Harrisburg.

    Brian O'Grady Aug 18 1:53pm ET

Cincinnati Reds INF Brian O'Grady on Sunday, Aug. 18, was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.

Joey Votto Aug 18 1:43pm ET

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (back) on Sunday, Aug. 18, was placed on the 10-day injured list with a lower-back strain.

Scott Oberg Aug 18 1:40pm ET

Colorado Rockies reliever Scott Oberg has been placed on the 10-day IL with a blood clot in his pitching arm. Oberg was recently promoted to ninth-inning duties for the club picking up five saves this season with a shiny 2.25 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 56.0 IP. It's unaware who will take over the closer's role with Wade Davis struggling this season, but he appears to be the leading candidate with a lack of options in the bullpen. Managers shouldn't rush to the waiver wire to add the veteran as he might become more of a headache than anything as a closer.

    From RotoBaller

Brad Peacock Aug 18 1:20pm ET

Houston Astros pitcher Brad Peacock has been activated from the IL after being out of action since the end of June. He's been shelved with a shoulder injury and will return to a relief role after spending the first half of the season as a starter. Peacock had mixed results this year with a 6-6 record, 4.13 ERA, and 89 strikeouts in 85.0 innings pitched. He won't carry much fantasy value as a middle reliever the rest of the way, and it's certain he won't get moved back into the rotation.

    From RotoBaller

Julio Urias Aug 18 1:20pm ET

While Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias serves the remainder of his 20-game suspension, he'll stretch his arm to return as a starter. The 23-year-old has served primarily as a reliever this season in a multi-inning role collecting four wins and four saves with a 2.53 ERA. Urias' suspension will hold him out until September, but he should return to fantasy relevance immediately upon activation. He likely won't throw deep into games initially, but he'll still post excellent ratios as well as a strikeout per inning. Owners should hang on tight to the southpaw.

    From RotoBaller

Joey Votto Aug 18 1:10pm ET

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive August 15. Votto has not played since Wednesday due to lower back tightness. It's unclear how long Votto is going to be sidelined at the moment. Josh VanMeter is expected to draw most of the starts at first base. Brian O'Grady has been recalled from Triple-A to take the active spot on the roster. O'Grady has 27 home runs in the minors and could see playing time at first base as well.

    From RotoBaller

Ketel Marte Aug 18 1:00pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Ketel Marte (back) is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. This marks the second game in a row that Marte has missed due to back tightness. Adam Jones will cover center field and bat fifth versus lefty Madison Bumgarner. Jones has been red-hot at the plate, but Bumgarner is never an easy pitcher to hit.
