Ariel Jurado Aug 23 8:40am ET

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Ariel Jurado had a weird night in Chicago as he allowed six runs but also threw an eight-inning complete game while taking the loss. Jurado allowed 10 hits and a walk but was efficient enough the Rangers left him in for eight innings. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, part of that efficiency was only racking up two strikeouts meaning there was very little fantasy value despite the long start. Jurado has had his moments this season but carries little value overall. He has a 5.48 ERA with a 5.06 FIP to match. He's especially struggled lately allowing 16 earned runs in his last three starts spanning only 13 2/3 innings. He's not a recommended play in his next start Wednesday at the Angels.

Elvis Andrus Aug 23 8:30am ET

Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the White Sox Thursday. Andrus was the Rangers offense in this one as they could only get three hits off Ross Detwiler and the bullpen. It was a rare homer for the shortstop, but he's been valuable to fantasy owners in other ways. He is batting .282 with 63 runs scored and his 25 stolen bases rank fifth in the majors. He's struggled a bit in the second half with a .236 average but seems to be breaking out of that with a hit in eight of his last nine games. He should be back in fantasy lineups this weekend with some good matchups against the White Sox pitching staff.

Gerrit Cole Aug 23 3:39am ET

Astros' SP Gerrit Cole recorded 12 strikeouts in 7 innings with the win in a 6-3 win over the Tigers on Thursday, Aug. 22.

David Hale Aug 23 3:03am ET

New York Yankees RHP David Hale (back, knee) received a cortisone injection in his left knee, which halted his ongoing rehab from a back injury.

Brett Gardner Aug 23 3:03am ET

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (toe) returned to the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 22, after missing two games due to an ingrown toenail.

Danny Santana Aug 23 2:53am ET

Texas Rangers OF Danny Santana (hamstring) was not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 22, as he deals with a sore left hamstring. He was available off the bench.

Yoan Moncada Aug 23 2:53am ET

Chicago White Sox INF Yoan Moncada (hamstring) was officially activated from the IL on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Matthew Boyd Aug 23 2:53am ET

Detroit Tigers RP Tyler Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after the game on Thursday, Aug. 22. They'll activate LHP Matt Boyd from the paternity list Friday, Aug. 23.

Tyler Alexander Aug 23 2:53am ET

Detroit Tigers RP Tyler Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after the game on Thursday, Aug. 22. They'll activate LHP Matt Boyd from the paternity list Friday, Aug. 23.

Austin Meadows Aug 23 1:20am ET

Tampa Bay outfielder Austin Meadows made history in a 5-2 victory over the Orioles on Thursday night, swatting his 22nd home run of the year in the third inning, marking the 259th home run that the Orioles have given up in 2019, breaking the record for the most home runs allowed by a team in a season, a record previously held by the 2016 Cincinnati Reds. Meadows also added a double, giving him a three-game streak of two-baggers. While he will still often struggle against left-handed pitching, Meadows is a full-go against righties, in season-long leagues as well as DFS

Gleyber Torres Aug 23 1:00am ET

New York Yankee Gleyber Torres continued to prove that he can hit home runs against more teams than just the Orioles, cranking two more in a 5-3 loss against Oakland on Thursday night. Torres now has 31 home runs on the year, tying him for second-most among second baseman. The Yankees continue their West Coast swing thing this weekend, playing a three-game set against the Dodgers.

Jeff Samardzija Aug 23 12:50am ET

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija pitched well but did not get any help from his offense in Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Cubs. Shark pitched seven innings, allowing a single run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. The veteran has pitched well this season and is now 9-10 with a 3.44 ERA, 123 strikeouts, and 39 walks in 146 2/3 IP this season. He will look to keep things going in his next start which will be a decent matchup against the Diamondbacks at home.

Aaron Civale Aug 23 12:50am ET

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Aaron Civale pitched well again on Thursday but ultimately took a tough loss, dropping his record to 1-3. He was just one out away from at least earning a quality start, but lasted just 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out three and did not issue a walk, throwing 83 pitches in the solid effort. Civale's ERA sits at 1.82 and opponents are hitting just .198 against him so far in his big league career. He's done enough to warrant legitimate mixed league consideration.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Aug 23 12:30am ET

Ronald Acuna Jr. walked it off against the Marlins on Thursday night, hitting a game-winning single off of Ryne Stanek with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, after Freddie Freeman had tied the game at two in the eighth inning. Acuna is in the middle of a transcendent season, now with 36 home runs, 86 RBI, 101 runs scored, and 29 stolen bases. An absolute five-category monster, Acuna continues to nip at the man they call Trout for fantasy supremacy.

    From RotoBaller

Freddie Freeman Aug 23 12:20am ET

Atlanta superstar Freddie Freeman went 1-4 on Thursday night, clubbing his 34th home run of the year as the Braves defeated the Miami Marlins 3-2. The home run ties Freeman's previous career-high from 2016 and he continues to cement himself as the most valuable first baseman in fantasy. With three home runs in his past three games, Freeman will look to keep it up on Friday as the Braves start a series on the road against the Mets.

    From RotoBaller

Nolan Arenado Aug 23 12:10am ET

Perennial MVP candidate Nolan Arenado hit his 32nd home run of the year on Thursday, as the Rockies fell 6-5 to the Cardinals. Arenado now has 99 RBI and 82 runs scored and is slashing .301/.360/.561. Coors or no Coors, Arenado is a top-10 fantasy player and will continue to be for the rest of the season.

    From RotoBaller

Yoan Moncada Aug 23 12:00am ET

Out since July 31 with a hamstring injury, Yoan Moncada made his return on Thursday night and picked up right where he left off, hitting his 21st home run of the year off of Texas starter Ariel Jurado in the third inning of a 6-1 White Sox win. Back and healthy, Moncada is a top-100 player for the rest of the year.

    From RotoBaller

Paul DeJong Aug 23 12:00am ET

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong hit his 23rd home run on Thursday, a two-run shot in the sixth inning. He went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI, raising his slash line to .247/.326/.460. Much like his teammate Marcell Ozuna, who also homered on Thursday, DeJong is a very streaky hitter who can make a huge difference in fantasy baseball when he gets hot.

    From RotoBaller

Marcell Ozuna Aug 23 12:00am ET

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Marcell Ozuna hit his 23rd home run of the season on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. His bomb came in the fourth inning with a runner on base. The game raised his slash line to .262/.339/.507. He's one of the streakier hitters in baseball and is an excellent DFS choice when he turns things on.

    From RotoBaller

Dexter Fowler Aug 22 11:50pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler hit a home run on Thursday, going 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. The blast was Fowler's 15th and came in a critical spot in the seventh inning. He'll take a .251/.348/.433 line into his next start.
