Marcell Ozuna Jun 5 12:20pm ET

Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna suffered a facial laceration on Friday after his wife struck him with a soap dish, according to Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640. The injury is quite minor, and will not hamper Ozuna as he continues to prepare for the 2020 season. The 29-year-old had a productive 2019 season, despite carrying an unsightly .243 batting average. Thankfully, Ozuna has joined a potent lineup, and looks to provide solid draft value with a current NFBC ADP of 95.

Matt Harvey Jun 5 12:10pm ET

Free-agent starting pitcher Matt Harvey has expressed interest in playing in Korea, according to a source. According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, KBO teams have been in touch with Harvey's representation. The former All-Star has been throwing regular bullpen sessions as he continues to stay in shape with the MLB season suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Harvey has tried out for the Blue Jays this offseason and is just looking for another chance. The 31-year-old hasn't been the same since dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome in 2016. Harvey struggled with the Angels last season before he was released in July. While a long shot at this point, Harvey is still trying to find his way back into a big league rotation.

Jose Lopez Jun 4 11:53pm ET

Cincinnati Reds P Jordan Johnson, P Raul Hernandez, RP Tyler Jay, P Many Reyes, OF Randy Ventura, P Austin Orewiler, P Jose Lopez, OF Emilio Garcia, OF Carlos Santos and OF Brandon Barnes were released after Major League Baseball shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Eugenio Suarez Jun 3 11:13pm ET

Cincinnati Reds 3B Eugenio Suarez (shoulder) is '100 percent' healthy, according to general manager Dick Williams.

Nick Senzel Jun 3 8:10pm ET

Cincinnati Reds general manager Dick Williams said that third baseman Eugenio Suarez (shoulder) is 100 percent healthy and that outfielder Nick Senzel (shoulder) is also doing well. Suarez had surgery in January and has benefited from the delay of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 28-year-old (29 in July) should be ready for if/when the season starts, and he is a strong fantasy third baseman after hitting 49 homers in 2019 and driving in 103 runs. Senzel has become a bit of an injury risk, but his upside still makes him worth taking a flier on for his power/speed combination in the late-middle rounds of fantasy baseball drafts.

Nick Senzel Jun 3 6:53pm ET

Cincinnati Reds OF Nick Senzel (shoulder) has completely recovered his shoulder injury and will be ready to play, according to director of baseball operations Dick Williams.

Wilson Ramos Jun 3 1:20pm ET

The New York Mets' Port St. Lucie spring complex officially opened to local players on Monday for the first time in more than two months. Catcher Wilson Ramos has been among the group of around half a dozen players to work out this week. The 32-year-old hit .288/.351/.416 with 14 home runs and 73 RBI in 141 games in his first season for the Mets. Ramos is on the wrong side of 30, especially for a catcher, but despite his age and lack of elite upside at the position, he's a very capable low-end starting backstop in single-catcher formats.

Chris Archer Jun 3 10:50am ET

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer will miss the entire 2020 season after undergoing surgery to relieve symptoms of neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome. This is a surprise announcement as Archer wasn't reported to be having any issues before spring training was canceled in March. However, he did finish the 2019 season on the IL after experiencing shoulder discomfort in late-August, and this surgery points to that discomfort never having completely dissipated. Archer struggled mightily in his first full year as a Pirate, finishing with a 5.19 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. With just a 247 ADP in NFBC leagues, Archer hadn't gotten much respect from drafters but had emerged as a low-risk flyer due to his strikeout upside. While expected to be ready for the 2021 season, it likely won't be for the perennially cash-strapped Pirates, who hold an $11 million team option on the 31-year-old.

Chris Archer Jun 3 10:33am ET

Pittsburgh Pirates RHP Chris Archer (chest) underwent thoracic outlet surgery Tuesday, June 2. He's expected to be ready for the 2021 season.

Luiz Gohara Jun 1 11:00pm ET

The Los Angeles Angels released 39 minor leaguers last week, according to the official minor league transaction pages. They released 29 minor leaguers from March to May of 2019 and 19 from the same time frame in 2018. Pitchers Luiz Gohara, Luis Pena and Jeremy Rhoades were among those cut in the process. Gohara, a 23-year-old southpaw who was once a notable prospect with Atlanta, has a 5.33 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 49 innings in the big leagues with the Braves in 2017 and 2018 over 14 appearances (six starts).

    From RotoBaller

Shohei Ohtani May 31 4:10pm ET

Los Angeles Angels starting pitchers Shohei Ohtani (elbow) and Griffin Canning (elbow) have each thrown three live batting practice sessions and are up to around 55 pitches. Both pitchers will remain at that level for now while the Players Union and MLB owners negotiate salaries and health concerns for a potential shortened 2020 season. Ohtani was expected to be ready around mid-June for a rotation spot following his recovery from Tommy John surgery, so he should be ready if the season were to start in early July. The Japanese two-way star is more valuable as a pitcher in fantasy, but he also should be owned in all leagues for his power/speed combination as a designated hitter. Canning dealt with issues to his UCL back in February and is trying to avoid the surgical route. Everything appears to be good for now, but the second-year hurler is a bit risky in shallow mixed leagues, especially in what would be a shortened season.

    From RotoBaller

Griffin Canning May 31 3:13pm ET

Los Angeles Angels RHP Griffin Canning (elbow) has thrown three live batting practice sessions and is throwing around 55 pitches during the sessions.

Shohei Ohtani May 31 3:13pm ET

Los Angeles Angels RHP/OF Shohei Ohtani (elbow) has thrown three live batting practice sessions and is throwing around 55 pitches during the sessions.

Mike Papi May 31 2:23pm ET

Cleveland Indians OF Mike Papi was recently released by the Indians.

Luis Severino May 31 1:20pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino (elbow) is reportedly progressing well from his offseason Tommy John surgery. Severino underwent the surgery in February, and if he can continue to progress without setbacks then he should be healthy for the start of the 2021 season. Severino is a fantasy ace when healthy with an impressive 3.13 ERA and a 4.53 K:BB over the past three seasons. Although sometimes portrayed as injury-prone, Severino had back-to-back seasons with more than 190 innings pitched before last season. Fantasy owners should expect Severino to miss at most a few weeks to start next season and draft him as a future ace in dynasty leagues as a result.
