Kyle Crick May 12 11:23pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates RHP Kyle Crick (triceps) will not throw for a few days, but the team expects him to resume throwing this weekend.

Kevin Newman May 12 11:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kevin Newman finished 2-for-5 with a run scored in a 5-1 loss to the Reds on Wednesday night. It was his second multi-hit performance in his last five games, as he is now hitting 6-for-22 with a triple, one RBI and four runs scored in that span. It looks like he may be starting to heat up after a slow start to the season, as he is now slashing .208/.238/.267 in 33 games. He'll need to continue to show improvement at the plate before managers in any format should even consider rostering him.

Josh Fuentes May 12 11:10pm ET

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 3-2 win over the Padres in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Fuentes put the Rockies on the board in the bottom of the second inning when he took Blake Snell deep for a two-run shot, his third of the season. He then played the hero in the bottom of the eighth inning (extras) when he hit an RBI single off of Nick Ramirez to plate Charlie Blackmon and win the game. The 28-year-old accounted for all of Colorado's runs on Wednesday but his season has not gone according to plan. He's hitting just .204/.218/.306 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and a 23:2 K/BB ratio over 98 at-bats.

    From RotoBaller

Isan Diaz May 12 11:10pm ET

Miami Marlins second baseman Isan Diaz was removed from Wednesday's game because he was feeling unwell and fatigued, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald. McPherson adds that Diaz was cleared by the team's doctor after he was pinch-hit for in the top of the third. It sounds like it's probably nothing serious, and he should be considered day-to-day for now. Diaz has gotten off to a slow start this year, hitting .156 with a .644 OPS, although he has managed to hit two home runs in 11 games.

    From RotoBaller

Jose Urquidy May 12 11:03pm ET

Houston Astros RHP Jose Urquidy (shoulder) left the game early Wednesday, May 12, because of posterior shoulder discomfort. He is considered day-to-day at this point.

Jose Soriano May 12 11:03pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates RHP Jose Soriano (elbow) is expected to start a rehab assignment in five to seven days.

Colin Moran May 12 11:03pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates INF Colin Moran (groin) participated in light baseball activities Wednesday, May 12, as part of his rehab.

Trevor Story May 12 11:00pm ET

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went a combined 2-for-7 with a run scored, an RBI, a walk, a stolen base, and three strikeouts in Wednesday's doubleheader vs. the San Diego Padres. Story did all of his damage in Game 1, a 5-3 loss when he put the Rockies on the board with an RBI single in the first inning off of Yu Darvish. He picked up another single, a walk, and stole his fifth base of the year later in that game. He went 0-for-4 in Game 2 with three strikeouts. Story is now slashing .278/.351/.474 with four home runs, 21 RBI, and five thefts over 133 at-bats this season. Fantasy managers were probably hoping for more power at this point in the season but his home run numbers should start to tick up as the weather warms in Denver.

    From RotoBaller

Joe Panik May 12 10:53pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays INF Joe Panik (calf) hit in the batting cage Wednesday, May 12.

Aaron Judge May 12 10:50pm ET

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge collected three hits in Wednesday's win over Tampa Bay. Judge was responsible for half of his team's hits on a night when the bats went cold- and he scored the only run of the game. The slugger now has five hits and a home run in his last two games- he has put his slump behind him quickly and looks poised to go on a hot streak. Judge will have the platoon advantage on Thursday against veteran lefty Rich Hill. Judge has mashed left-handers this season to the tune of a 1.149 OPS in 34 plate appearances.

    From RotoBaller

Diego Castillo May 12 10:43pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays RHP Diego Castillo (groin) may be activated from the disabled list Friday, May 14.

Cody Bellinger May 12 10:40pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger (leg) has made "very encouraging progress" regarding his rehab efforts as of late. Bellinger hasn't played since April 14 due to a fracture in his left leg. He was running the bases a few days ago, so Wednesday's latest report is more good news for the fantasy managers who have depended on his overall production over the years.

    From RotoBaller

Daniel Bard May 12 10:40pm ET

Colorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard blew the save on Wednesday vs. the Padres in Game 2 of their doubleheader when he allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings. The Rockies eventually won the game 3-2 in extra innings. Bard entered in the sixth inning with one out and one runner on to replace starter Austin Gomber. He was able to secure the next two outs and get out of the inning with the Rockies holding a 2-1 lead. He then came back out for the seventh inning to close the game out but allowed a double and two singles to tie the game up. It was Bard's third blown save of the year and is raised his ERA to a hideous 7.13 to go along with a 2.13 WHIP and 16:7 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings. He's still been getting the bulk of ninth-inning work but sooner than later the team needs to move on from him.

    From RotoBaller

    Ji-Man Choi May 12 10:33pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Ji-Man Choi (knee) is dealing with some soreness with his knee, but manager Kevin Cash said he expects Choi to be activated from the injured list in the near future.

Edwin Rios May 12 10:30pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Edwin Rios (labrum) is done for the remainder of the year. The 27-year-old will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Rios hasn't done much this season, sporting a miserable .078 average and four hits throughout 51 at-bats while striking out 18 times. Hopefully, surgery will help with Rios' statistical output next season, but in the meantime, fantasy managers outside of dynasty formats can safely part ways with him.

    From RotoBaller

Aroldis Chapman May 12 10:30pm ET

New York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman notched his ninth straight save of the season in Wednesday's victory over Tampa Bay. It was slightly concerning when Chapman came out for the ninth and wasn't throwing as hard- especially a night after he had to be checked on by the trainer- though he reared back and hit 100 MPH on the radar gun at one point in a 1-2-3 ninth. The veteran southpaw has been the most dominant closer in the game this season and has now pitched the most innings, 15, without allowing an earned run this season. Chapman won't be out there for a save chance on Thursday, given that he pitched Tuesday and Wednesday, though the night off will be well-earned.

    From RotoBaller

Aaron Hicks May 12 10:30pm ET

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Rays. Hicks supplied the only run of the night for the Yankee offense- and it was all they needed with Gerrit Cole on the mound- when he lofted an 0-2 pitch into center field for a sacrifice fly to score Aaron Judge. The veteran outfielder is hitting over .300 in May with four RBI- and has definitely taken steps forward at the plate after his rough start. He also returned to the lineup quickly after missing a game due to a shin bruise, which is good news for his ability to manage the issue moving forward.

    From RotoBaller

Luis Severino May 12 10:23pm ET

New York Yankees RHP Luis Severino (elbow, back) was not able to throw during a recent live batting practice session because of back stiffness.

Teoscar Hernandez May 12 10:20pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez walloped a pair of homers to help lead the club to a 4-1 victory over the Braves on Wednesday. His solo shot in the seventh put them ahead by a run before he added some insurance in the top of the ninth with a 464' two-run shot for his 10th multi-homer game of his career. Hernandez added a walk in the contest and is now 7-for-11 over his past three games which has pushed his slash line to an impressive .293/.338/.507 through 19 games. The 28-year-old was slowed up to start the season with COVID-19, but he now appears to be in fine form hitting in the middle of the Jays lineup.

    From RotoBaller

Hyun Jin Ryu May 12 10:20pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu was excellent in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Braves, limiting the team to one run over seven innings. The lefty struck out six while allowing five hits and a walk with the only damage coming off of a William Contreras home run in the fifth. Ryu is making fantasy managers happy with a sterling 2.95 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 39 2/3 IP on the year despite striking out less than a batter per inning (32 K). He'll look to keep his strong start to the season going in his next scheduled matchup at home versus a daunting Red Sox lineup.
