The New Orleans Saints defense/special teams has been a solid unit so far in 2023, surrendering just 16 points per game to opponents and averaging two takeaways per game. They have also totaled seven sacks in the first two games, succeeding at putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. This should be the toughest test that Green Bay Packers first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love has faced, and he could struggle against a sound New Orleans defense. Start the Saints' defense in Week 3.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell caught all six of his targets, but only for a grand total of 24 yards, in the team's 30-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. His longest effort on the day went for seven yards. Campbell became a primary option on the offense as the Giants' game plan focused on short passes and screens. Only tight end Darren Waller had more targets for the Giants on Thursday night. There are not any Giants' pass-catching options that need to be rostered, other than Waller.
From RotoBaller
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is a must-start again as he's set to take on a Colts team in Week 3 that can be exploited in the passing game. Through two games, Jackson has completed 74.5% of his passes for 406 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The Colts gave up 31 points and 241 yards through the air against the Jaguars and then just let up another 20 points and 384 yards to the Texans. Jackson's weapons and his escapability from the pocket allow him to be a high-end QB1 option in this matchup.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (chest) was injured during Monday's win over Cleveland Browns. The superstar safety was sent to the hospital for precautionary scans, but luckily he came back with no serious injuries. Fitzpatrick missed Wednesday's practice, but was able to get in a limited session on Thursday. Right now, Fitzpatrick is on track to suit up for the Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. His return would certainly be a significant boost for this secondary.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants tight end Darren Waller caught just three of his seven targets for 20 yards in the team's 30-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Giants' game plan was to get the ball out of Jones' hands quickly, and he rarely took the chance downfield to the veteran tight end. Jones' lone interception came on a target to Waller late in the fourth quarter. The former Pro Bowler will have another chance to prove himself as a top tight end option in fantasy football next Monday against the Seattle Seahawks.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams (knee) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice session. The All-Pro safety opened the week with a full session, so possibly the team decided to dial it back on Thursday. It's unclear if the limited session Thursday was for rest purposes or a setback. Regardless, his session on Friday will go a long way to determining his availability for Week 3. His absence would obviously be a significant hit to the Seahawks defense versus the Carolina Panthers this weekend. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Friday for another update on Adams.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones completed 22 passes for 137 yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception in the team's 30-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Giants' game plan focused on screens and short passes due to injuries along the offensive line. Jones rarely took shots down the field in an effort to avoid the San Francisco pass rush. The 26-year-old's interception came on what ultimately proved to be his final pass. Tyrod Taylor replaced him on the next drive with the game out of hand. Jones and the Giants will next host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
From RotoBaller
Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane could be looking at a bigger role heading into the Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The rookie back sat out Week 1 to fully recover from a preseason injury. He made his NFL debut last week, but played in a limited role. The expectation is that Achane will have larger role this week with the backfield banged up. Raheem Mostert will be the starter, while his primary backup in Salvon Ahmed (groin) is unlikely to play. That means, Achane could step into the No. 2 role for this upcoming game. It would likely lead to increased snaps and hopefully some streaming appeal. However, Mostert will handle a majority of the snaps, so Achane would mainly be a deep league option, assuming he serves as the primary backup.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints rookie kicker Blake Grupe has been reliable when called upon in his first NFL season and has not yet missed a field goal or extra point attempt. Grupe is a top-10 kicker in fantasy, and should be in lineups this week against the Green Bay Packers. The rookie has averaged 2.5 field goals per game and should continue kicking at a high clip.
From RotoBaller
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (ankle) hasn't practiced this week and is not expected to suit up for the Week 3 matchup versus the Seattle Seahawks. The rookie quarterback suffered an ankle injury at some point during last week's matchup against the New Orleans Saints. He was able to play through the pain, but will now possibly miss some time. The organization doesn't expect Young to miss more than two games. That being said, Young could possibly be on the sideline for Week 4 as well. The team will likely wait and see how his ankle issue progresses over the next week or so. Until then, Andy Dalton will be under center for the Panthers.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints second-year wide receiver Rashid Shaheed has lived off of big plays over the early portion of his career. He has had no shortage of them this season, keeping the former undrafted free agent on the fantasy radar. Shaheed has only been targeted ten times this season, but has a total of 163 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. He has operated as both a deep threat and YAC receiver for Derek Carr and has been effective in his role. Shaheed can be started, but be cautious as he needs to rip off a big play to pay off.
From RotoBaller
New York Giants running back Matt Breida scored a touchdown on limited touches in the team's 30-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran got the starting nod with star Saquon Barkley (ankle) sitting out. Breida only had four carries and three catches for 18 total yards but the entire Giants team only had 11 carries on the night. He salvaged his fantasy performance with the Giants' only touchdown, which came early in the third quarter. Barkley is dealing with a high-ankle sprain and could miss even more time. Breida is worth a spot on your roster until Barkley returns.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson has had a slow start to his 2023 fantasy campaign after a strong 2022 season that included seven touchdowns. Johnson has only been targeted eight times, clearly behind Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Rashid Shaheed in the pecking order. He has totaled 49 yards and no touchdowns, disappointing anybody who has started him so far this season. Johnson is heavily touchdown-dependent due to his lackluster volume, and should be avoided this week against the Green Bay Packers in what projects as a low-scoring game.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) was unable to practice on Thursday, according to John Boyle. Dissly has now missed back-to-back practices due to a lingering shoulder issue which puts his status for Week 3 in danger. There's still a chance he practices on Friday, but Dissly is trending in the wrong direction. His absence would mean that Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson would likely split up the reps. Between the two, Fant is the better streaming choice, but is more of a deep league option.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave will continue to soak up targets in Week 3. Olave has been targeted a team-high 21 times through the first two games and likely will remain quarterback Derek Carr's go-to option in the passing game. While Jaire Alexander blanketed D.J. Moore in Week 1, Drake London (6-67-1) had more success against him in Week 2. Alexander will likely shadow Olave, which could make his matchup tough, but do not hesitate to keep him in lineups this week.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints veteran wide receiver Michael Thomas has regained a role in the offense over the first two weeks of the season, hauling in 12 receptions on 17 targets for 116 yards. Thomas has seen consistent usage, making him an attractive FLEX option for Week 3 against a Green Bay defense that has been hit-or-miss. While the game is likely to be a lower-scoring affair, Thomas should deliver due to his consistent volume. Fire him up in Week 3 but be cautious that he could be held without a touchdown again.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller (hamstring) has missed the first two weeks due to injury, but appears to be trending towards playing this weekend after fully participating in back-to-back practices. With Jamaal Williams (hamstring) trending towards missing the game and Alvin Kamara (suspension) a week away from returning, Miller should slot in as the lead back immediately. Tony Jones Jr. and Taysom Hill led the backfield in Week 2 after Williams left, but this should be the third-round rookie's opportunity to show that he can operate as a workhorse. Fire him up as an RB2 against a Packers defense that has been favorable to running backs this season, barring any last second changes to Jamaal Williams' status.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints running back Tony Jones Jr. took over the backfield in Week 2 after Jamaal Williams (hamstring) left the game. Jones ran 12 times for 34 yards and punched in two touchdowns in the win. While Williams is trending towards being out this week, rookie Kendre Miller (hamstring) has logged back-to-back practices and looks like he will be ready to make his NFL debut on Sunday. Miller should lead the backfield and although Jones should see some work, it likely won't be enough to make him fantasy-relevant.
From RotoBaller
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has led the team to a 2-0 record, but his on-field efforts have not translated into fantasy football production. Carr has only thrown for one touchdown through two games, and he is unlikely to stuff the stat sheet in what should be a lower-scoring matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Only consider playing him in superflex leagues, and even then it may be wise to explore other options.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had his best game of the young season on Thursday night against the New York Giants. The colorful tight end out of Iowa grabbed seven of his nine targets for 90 yards, helping pick up the offensive slack with receiver Brandon Aiyuk sidelined by injury. While fantasy managers are still waiting for Kittle's first touchdown, it was good to see Kittle beat projections after duds in the first two weeks. Next up for Kittle's 49ers is a home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals where he'll remain a TE1.
