The Washington Commanders signed first-round wide receiver Jahan Dotson to a four-year, fully guaranteed $15.05 million rookie deal on Wednesday. The deal comes with a fifth-year team option. Dotson was taken with the 16th overall pick of this year's draft and is expected to start opposite Terry McLaurin on the outside in D.C. immediately. The 22-year-old had 183 catches for 2,757 yards and 25 touchdowns in his collegiate career at Penn State. The 5-foot-11, 178-pounder could struggle with physical cornerbacks, but he has enough speed to create separation down the field for new quarterback Carson Wentz. Dotson won't be as attractive as some of the other rookie receivers in dynasty and redraft leagues, but mainly because Wentz has been so inconsistent.

The Chicago Bears have been working rookie wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. at inside and outside receiver during organized team activities. "We've thrown him into the fire pretty quick, put him at two positions immediately," receivers coach Tyke Tolbert said. "Get him to learn it now. Because we want him to learn the whole concept but, specifically, a couple of positions to get him going. The more he can do, the more, obviously, he'll have a chance to play." Getting the ball in the hands of Jones, who will also work as a returner, will be a priority this offseason. Given the fact that Equanimeous St. Brown and Byron Pringle are behind Darnell Mooney on the receiving depth chart, Jones could be given plenty of chances to make things happen with his speed and playmaking abilities in his first NFL season.

The Chicago Bears are transitioning into a run-heavy, outside zone offense, and fullback Khari Blasingame is expected to be clearing holes and creating running lanes for running backs David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert. "He's going to be able to do some things for us outside of the traditional fullback role of just being an elite blocker," running backs coach David Walker said of Blasingame. "He's got some skills. He made a great catch out of the scramble drill today and went downfield." It's good news for Montgomery's fantasy outlook heading into the 2022, but Herbert could steal valuable backfield work from him after a strong rookie season. But if the Bears continue to commit to the run Montgomery should also be used heavily.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields ended voluntary minicamp with a poor showing in seven-on-seven drills, but he has been praised by players and coaches during organized team activities this week. "He is ahead of pace," quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko said. "I think he has really gone to work mentally in the classroom, away from the classroom, what he is doing with his iPad at night, how he studies, how he is ready and prepared the next day, how he comes and approaches every day." Fields' development will be interesting to watch as he learns a new offense under first-time offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Fields has intriguing dual-threat skills at QB, but even though the Bears added receiver Velus Jones Jr. in the draft, it remains to be seen if Fields can take a big step forward in his second year with a lackluster group of weapons around him.

Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee (knee), who did have surgery on his knee, said he's in a good place now and is progressing in his rehab. Higbee was able to start on-field work a couple of weeks ago, but the Rams won't rush him to get back to full speed at this time of the year. The 29-year-old suffered a sprained MCL in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers and wasn't able to play in the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Rams are being smart with him right now, and he should be good to go by Week 1, barring any setbacks. Higbee finished last year with 61 receptions on 85 targets for 560 yards and five touchdowns and should once again be a low-end TE1 for fantasy managers in 2022.

The Minnesota Vikings coaching staff was transparent early this offseason that they'd be taking it slow with tight end Irv Smith Jr. (knee). However, Smith did look agile during his drills off to the side during organized team activities and was running routes almost at full speed. He is working his way back from a torn meniscus that kept him out for all of last season. It sounds like Smith is close to 100 percent, so he should be full-go at training camp this summer. Now that Tyler Conklin is out of town, the 23-year-old should be Minnesota's unquestioned No. 1 pass-catching tight end, which will make him an attractive sleeper selection at the position in an offense that is expected to become more pass-happy under new head coach Kevin O'Connell.

Free-agent defensive end Morgan Fox signed an undisclosed deal with the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday, according to his agent, David Canter. Fox will be reuniting with head coach Brandon Staley, who was the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams when Cox had a career-high six sacks in 2020. The 27-year-old pass-rusher spent last season with the Carolina Panthers, recording a career-high 34 tackles (16 solo), but he managed just 1.5 sacks in 17 games (nine starts). Fox could bounce back under Staley with the Bolts, though. He has a total of 103 tackles (66 solo), 16 tackles for loss, 24 QB hits, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 69 career games (15 starts) in five NFL seasons.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell (foot) said he feels great and hasn't had any physical limitations this offseason. He is fully participating in all team drills during organized team activities. Campbell had foot surgery in the middle of last season and played in just six games, recording 10 receptions for 162 yards and one touchdown on 20 targets for the Colts. The 24-year-old has played in a total of 15 games in his three NFL seasons and hasn't been able to shake the injury bug. He still has a lot to prove and will have to earn a starting role, especially after the Colts drafted rookie pass-catcher Alec Pierce in the second round.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson remains in limbo regarding a new deal. The former MVP, who's slated to make over $23 million this year, may delay signing a new contract to receive a heftier salary down the line. If that's the case, Baltimore is then expected to utilize the franchise tag over the following season or two to keep him on the roster. Jackson's productivity declined during 2021, and he finished by racking up 2,882 passing yards, 767 rushing yards, 18 total touchdowns, and a career-high 13 interceptions. He did miss some time due to injury, so as long as he can remain healthy, he has the potential to run his way back into fantasy prominence, even without Marquise Brown on the roster. Nevertheless, more is likely to come surrounding this situation, although it shouldn't keep him from suiting up during the 2022-23 campaign.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has proven to be one of the most potent defensive backs in the league. Unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old is coming off another productive season, finishing 2021 with a career-high 124 total tackles (84 solo) along with two interceptions. Yet, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the organization "won't be rushed into a deal." Granted, that doesn't mean he won't receive one, although the Steelers may continue to play it cool over the next few months before making an offer. Nonetheless, this situation could spill into the Summer, and with Pittsburgh notorious for not negotiating during the season, a holdout may be possible. Fitzpatrick has been one of the best IDP options, so as long the contract situation doesn't keep him off the field, he should remain an elite fantasy asset.

New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston (knee) recently began planting and throwing in what is the latest sign of progress in his rehab of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Wednesday, May 18. Winston is expected to be ready for training camp.

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints WR Jarvis Landry's one-year, $6 million max value contract includes a base salary of $1.12 million and a signing bonus of $1.88 million. The veteran has incentives that include $250,000 for 55 catches or $500,000 for 65 catches or $1 million for 75 catches. In addition, he gets $500,000 for each of the following: five receiving touchdowns, playing at least 48.5 percent of snaps, 60 catches and a playoff appearance, and 607 yards and a playoff appearance.

The New York Jets reached an agreement with first-round wide receiver Garrett Wilson on a four-year, fully guaranteed $20.55 million deal on Wednesday, according to a source. The Jets now have all three of their first-round picks under contract. Wilson went 10th overall to the Jets in this year's draft after recording 143 catches for 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns in his time in Ohio State on 207 targets. The 21-year-old could struggle against more physical cornerbacks at the next level, but his athleticism and elite speed cannot be ignored. The Jets are hoping that Wilson can be a big-play threat immediately for second-year quarterback Zach Wilson. The rookie wideout has plenty of upside, but he could be inconsistent in his first NFL season while fighting for targets alongside Elijah Moore, Corey Davis and Braxton Berrios.

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has been lining up in bunch wide receiver sets in multiple formations during the team's organized team activities, The Athletic's Chad Graff reported on Tuesday, May 17.
Fantasy Spin: Cook is normally very involved in the passing game, but lining up at wide receiver would be a new wrinkle. Cook is an elite RB1 in all formats no matter where he catches passes from.

Atlanta Falcons QB Marcus Mariota is at the top of the quarterback depth chart ahead of the 2022 season, head coach Arthur Smith said recently. 'We've added competition certainly,' Smith said. 'Marcus being the veteran gives us a chance going forward. As with any position on this team, the best player is going to play, but obviously Marcus being the vet, that's the way it'll go starting out.'
Fantasy Spin: Mariota will battle it out for the starting job with 2022 third-round pick Desmond Ridder, but it's obvious the veteran has the advantage there. If he wins the starting job, Mariota will enter the season as a QB2 with QB1 upside thanks to his ability to make plays with his legs, but it's worth noting he has a shaky roster around him and a checkered past with injuries.
From TheHuddle
Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry could get a one- or two-year contract extension in order to lower his 2022 and 2023 cap hits of $15 million and $15.5 million, respectively, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fantasy Spin: Henry, 28, is coming off the first major injury of his career, and while there are concerns about his future viability because of that and his age, this would seem to indicate the Titans don't exactly feel the same. Until he actually shows decline, Henry is an elite RB1 going into 2022.

Free agent CB Maurice Canady (Cowboys) is signing an undisclosed contract with the New York Giants, NorthJersey.com's Art Stapleton reported on Wednesday, May 18. Also, Big Blue is signing free agent CB Khalil Dorsey, per his agent.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles CB James Bradberry's one-year, $10 million contract will include $7.25 million in guaranteed money, and another $2.5 million in incentives, according to a source.

Free-agent CB James Bradberry (Giants) agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal Wednesday, May 18, with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cincinnati Bengals agreed to terms with first-round Michigan defensive back Daxton Hill on a four-year, fully guaranteed rookie deal on Wednesday, according to a source. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hill was the 31st overall pick of the first round and mostly played safety in college, but he has the athleticism to play cornerback in the NFL. The 21-year-old could be an immediate upgrade over Eli Apple in the Bengals secondary in 2022 and beyond.
