    Le'Veon Bell Jul 20 1:50pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell, who will play under the $12.1 million franchise tag in 2017, believes he's worth more as a rusher and receiver. "Hopefully down the line I can get valued at, not as much a guy who gets the ball 30 carries and that's it," Bell said. The talented back was second on the team in 2016 in catches (75) and receiving yards (616) behind Antonio Brown despite missing four games. Former cornerback Ike Taylor thinks $15 million per year from the Steelers would've gotten a long-term deal done with Bell. Along with Bell, maybe only Cardinals running back David Johnson is as versatile a running back, which is why both are in the conversation as the No. 1 overall fantasy pick.

Ezekiel Elliott Jul 20 1:50pm ET

The Dallas Police Department is suspending an investigation into an incident at a bar last weekend that involved Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott "due to the lack of a complaint," Dallas Police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez wrote in a statement. Elliott wasn't arrested in the incident and the police didn't name him or any other suspects in the assault. The police could reopen the investigation, and the NFL is still looking into the matter. Last year's leading rusher is still facing the possibility of a suspension to begin the year for a separate assault case from last year, and he's made several other questionable off-field decisions within the last year. That makes his status as a locked-in top-three fantasy selection shaky to say the least.

Danny Woodhead Jul 20 12:13am ET

Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead has impressed his new teammates thus far -- specifically QB Joe Flacco -- not just with what he can do after making a reception, but also before making the catch. 'Really, ever since we lost Ray Rice, we haven't had a type of back that's quite like how Ray was and quite like how Danny is in the passing game,' Flacco said. 'They just have a very good feel for when they're open and how to get open, how to sit in holes, how to find my eyes, and you can already see that. You can see he has a really good feel for those kinds of things. If you remember back, obviously, Ray was really good at doing that, and that gives a lot to your offense for sure.'

Adam Vinatieri Jul 20 12:03am ET

Indianapolis Colts PK Adam Vinatieri wants to play two more seasons, based on all indications. If he were to play through 2018, he would likely pass retired PK Morten Andersen for the NFL lead in career points and field goals made.

Mike Williams Jul 19 5:33pm ET

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams' (back) back injury is improving, and surgery for Williams is not on the table at this time, according to sources.

Geronimo Allison Jul 19 4:23pm ET

Green Bay Packers WR Geronimo Allison has been suspended for the first game of the 2017 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Mike Williams Jul 19 4:23pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) may need to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back, according to sources. He recently received a second epidural in his back to see if he could return at some point during training camp, but the team are preparing as if he will not be able to return during that time frame. The team is still hoping that Williams will be able to avoid surgery.

Deone Bucannon Jul 19 3:33pm ET

Arizona Cardinals LB Deone Bucannon (ankle) said he hopes to be ready to start in Week 1 but will not rush back to the lineup. Bucannon is still recovering from offseason ankle surgery.

Cam Newton Jul 19 3:10pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) has been throwing with teammates in Baltimore, and head coach Ron Rivera said, "apparently his shoulder is fine." Newton should be good to go for training camp later this month after having surgery to fix a partially torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder in March. Superman's 2015 MVP season is looking like the outlier, and his fantasy stock is further on the decline now that Carolina wants to take even more pressure off his shoulders in the offense. With Newton running less, it's hard to endorse him as a legitimate QB1 for fantasy owners moving forward.

Jake Butt Jul 19 2:03pm ET

Denver Broncos TE Jake Butt (knee) likely will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list because he is still recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Mitch Trubisky Jul 19 2:03pm ET

Chicago Bears first-round QB Mitchell Trubisky signed his four-year rookie deal Wednesday, July 19. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gary Barnidge Jul 19 1:43pm ET

Free-agent TE Gary Barnidge (Browns) is scheduled to visit and work out for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, July 25, according to a league source.

Devontae Booker Jul 19 1:40pm ET

Denver Broncos running back Devontae Booker admits he wasn't quite ready for what the NFL offered in his rookie season. He was less than a year removed from two knee surgeries and hit a rookie wall late in the season when he was in the lead role with C.J. Anderson (knee) injured. Booker "worked my butt off" this offseason in order to be better prepared, and his left knee is "100 percent" after two surgeries in college. He feels he's in a better position now to show what he can really do, but he'll need to show it in order to receive touches over Anderson and Jamaal Charles. The Broncos also used a sixth-round pick on De'Angelo Henderson. As long as Anderson is healthy, Booker will likely be his backup, with Charles receiving situational work. As of now, Booker is strictly a handcuff for Anderson owners in the later rounds of drafts.

Markus Wheaton Jul 19 1:40pm ET

Chicago Bears wide receiver Markus Wheaton is intended to serve as the deep threat as the No. 3 wideout this year. That role was previously intended for Kevin White, but he broke multiple bones in his left leg his rookie season and played in just three games last year because of a shoulder injury. Wheaton has been inconsistent in his career, but he did average 14.1 yards per catch in his time in Pittsburgh. He might be worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues, but receiving passes from Mike Glennon doesn't inspire a lot of confidence for fantasy owners.

Randall Cobb Jul 19 10:53am ET

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb still has the team's belief in him after his three-touchdown performance in the wild-card game against the New York Giants. 'I think you saw him in those playoff games,' wide receivers coach Luke Getsy said, 'and he wasn't even totally healthy, and you saw who he is. He's an impactful guy. You take the Giants game early in the year, and it's third-and-long, and we throw the ball way short of the sticks and he's the only guy on the football team that makes that play for us.'

Dalvin Cook Jul 19 1:50am ET

Minnesota Vikings special teams coach Mike Priefer said he would like to use rookie running back Dalvin Cook as a kick returner this year, but the decision will ultimately be head coach Mike Zimmer's. With Cook expected to see the majority of early-down action in 2017, that means it's unlikely the Vikings will allow their prized pick to be exposed to return duties right off the bat. Cook will likely be overvalued in fantasy drafts behind an extremely shaky offensive line, but he does possess heaps of upside.

Greg Olsen Jul 18 6:43pm ET

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen can become just the fourth tight end ever to gain at least 1,000 yards in four seasons. Not only that, but achieving 1,000 yards this season would mark the fourth straight year in which Olsen has reached that mark.

Ezekiel Elliott Jul 18 1:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has some more legal trouble brewing. This time, it's a misdemeanor for speeding that he's appealing. Elliott was clocked driving 100 mph on a tollway in the Dallas area earlier this year. It seems like a minor issue, but combined with all of the other off-field decisions Elliott has made recently, it certainly raises some concern. On the field, Elliott is a top-three fantasy pick, but if he keeps making decisions that could lead to suspensions (like possibly knocking someone out at a bar or getting caught on video pulling down a woman's top) it won't matter because he won't be on the field. He's still a first round pick, but the continued disappointing news could actually drop him out of the top-five simply due to suspension risk.

Matt Ryan Jul 18 12:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper worked on his chemistry with quarterback Matt Ryan through organized team activities and minicamp. Hooper also recently joined Ryan in Southern California for three days of private workouts and training. "It felt really good, kind of getting to know my teammate a little better," Hooper said. In his rookie season, Hooper had 19 catches for 271 yards and three touchdowns, but he wanted to improve his route running in the offseason. Despite the pedestrian rookie numbers, Hooper came on strong late in the season and in the playoffs when Jacob Tamme (knee) was injured, and Hooper is expected to be the top pass-catching tight end in Atlanta this season. There is breakout potential here, but Hooper is nothing more than a sleeper selection as a fantasy backup.

Jordan Howard Jul 18 12:30pm ET

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard, who finished second in the league in rushing yards to Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott in 2016, spent parts of the offseason trying to improve on his acceleration after his longest rushing touchdown was just nine yards. The offense clearly runs through Howard in Chicago, and he could see an even bigger workload in 2017. He'll come off the board very quickly in the early rounds as a high-end RB1.
