Ronald Jones II Aug 25 12:22pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber, who led the team last year with 871 rushing yards and five touchdowns, has gotten first-team carries ahead of Ronald Jones II this preseason. Barber is good at getting yards after contact and is more trustworthy with the ball in his hands. Jones was gaining steam after a strong spring, but he has yet to supplant Barber as the lead back despite having a nice camp and averaging 4.2 yards per carry on six attempts. Jones will be a game-time decision for Friday's third preseason game after hyperextending his knee in the second preseason game. Jones is using his hands better and is more confident between the tackles after gaining weight in the offseason, but he's also had some busts in blitz pickups this preseason and continues to work on his route running. Jones should improve in Year 2 after a terrible rookie season and he should see plenty of playing time next to Barber, but Barber is still slightly more attractive as an RB3/flex option.

    T.J. Yeldon Aug 25 12:22pm ET

Buffalo Bills running back T.J. Yeldon was one of the highlights of the team's passing game on Friday, catching three of his four targets for 51 yards. He had a 31-yard reception that was the team's biggest gain on the day. Yeldon didn't have the most effective rushing game, carrying the ball three times for zero yards, but it's nice to see him deliver in the passing game. Yeldon currently appears to be fourth on the team's running back depth chart behind LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore and rookie Devin Singletary, so he can be left undrafted in all standard fantasy leagues.

    C.J. Anderson Aug 25 12:22pm ET

Detroit Lions running back C.J. Anderson was able to gather 24 yards on eight rushing attempts and 17 yards on two catches during the Lions third preseason game against the Bills. Anderson has proven that he is solid running back but his touches this season are currently unpredictable. If the Lions decide to let Kerryon Johnson take charge, Anderson could see very little touches but if the Lions are careful with Johnson throughout the season, Anderson could be very valuable to any fantasy team. Following touch counts throughout the first couple of weeks will be essential in predicting fantasy value for the rest of the season for Anderson.

Alvin Kamara Aug 25 12:22pm ET

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara carried the ball twice for four yards and added two catches for 29 yards in his team's third preseason game against the New York Jets on Saturday. Kamara played with the starters on their first drive of the game and was then removed for rest. The star running back finished the preseason with 30 rushing yards on 10 carries and four catches for 44 yards. Kamara is one of the top pass-catching running backs in the league and can be safely selected as a top-six pick in fantasy drafts.

Chris Carson Aug 25 12:20pm ET

Seattle Seahawks starting running back Chris Carson only touched the ball three times on Saturday night against the Chargers, but when he did, he stomped over the defense. Carson finished with 23 yards on his three carries, averaging more than seven YPC. He was quickly replaced because the team already knows what they have in him and didn't feel like putting him at greater injury risk, but it was a nice reminder of what Carson can accomplish with Seattle's offense. Seattle will run the ball a ton this season, his offensive coordinator has already said that they want to get him more catching opportunities, and Carson is a proven back. He should be a valuable fantasy commodity again this season.

Geno Smith Aug 25 12:17pm ET

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith was the only QB to appear in Saturday's game besides Russell Wilson, and he took full advantage of the opportunity. Smith went 11-for-17 through the air for 117 yards, only got sacked once, and hustled in a touchdown on the ground. Smith showed poise in the pocket and regularly threw strong passes from awkward positions and while running. He looked like a solid backup quarterback who easily moved the ball up and down the field against LA's second- and third-string defense. With Paxton Lynch still in concussion protocol, this was a golden opportunity for Smith to show what he could do, and he took full advantage.

Ronald Jones II Aug 25 12:11pm ET

Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones II started off hot and then fizzled out in Friday's matchup against Cleveland. He carried the ball twice for 12 yards to start and then lost yardage on his next two carries. He was targeted once on a screen but had the play blown up by the defense and was not targeted again. Overall, Jones showed some flashes and has throughout the preseason, yet we have not seen a large enough sample to make a case either way on him. He, unfortunately, was dealing with a knee issue coming into the game and that may have limited his touches. Hopefully, there is more work handed in the final week of the preseason to get a better gauge on where he should stand in fantasy drafts.

    From RotoBaller

Damare Crockett Aug 25 12:10pm ET

Houston Texans running back Damarea Crockett had just four touches in Saturday's preseason loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but he had 27 rushing yards and five receiving yards on those touches. Crockett looked like a better back than Karan Higdon, but Higdon had nine more touches. Crockett could be a fantasy sleeper with Lamar Miller missing the season with an ACL tear, but the situation in Houston is too difficult to figure out right now. Crockett should be grabbed in dynasty leagues, but in shallower re-draft leagues, leave him on waivers or undrafted until we know more.

Chris Godwin Aug 25 12:10pm ET

Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin looked the part of a breakout stud against Cleveland. He caught for of his six passes for 52 yards and most impressively gained a good chunk after the catch. Godwin is eating out of the slot and looks to be a mismatch against nickel corners all season. He and quarterback Jameis Winston have built a solid rapport through two offseasons together and if things click, Godwin may catapult himself into WR1 territory soon.

    From RotoBaller

Jameis Winston Aug 25 12:10pm ET

Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston was roughed up Friday against the Browns. He finished the day 9-for-19 as he amassed 88 yards and no touchdowns. Winston getting sacked five times was a big reason as to why he struggled but, that should not take away from his indecision with the ball in his hands. There were few plays where he held the ball too long. Even without open receivers in sight, he should have thrown it away to not lose yards. Winston seemingly still has a ways to go before being a trustworthy real-life QB,. However, as long as he keeps tossing it deep in that awesome Bucs' offense, the fantasy ceiling remains high for 2019.

    From RotoBaller

    T Y Hilton Aug 25 12:08pm ET

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton saw his stock take a hit last night when his quarterback Andrew Luck announced his retirement. When Hilton and Luck were clicking together, he had a WR1 ceiling. With new starter Jacoby Brissett in place, he's more firmly in the WR2 category Hilton has the talent and explosiveness to move himself up, but he'll likely hover in that range for this season.

    From RotoBaller

Russell Wilson Aug 25 12:06pm ET

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson led two touchdown drives in the first half of the team's third preseason game on Saturday against the Chargers. He also missed a couple throws, including one clear overthrow on a third down, but overall, he looked like he was ready to start playing for real. Wilson finished with 73 yards on six completions, and though he didn't throw any for scores, his passing set them up. Wilson is one of the most reliable quarterbacks in fantasy for posting high touchdown totals and low interception totals, but the team's insistence on focusing on the running game limits his potential for a truly massive season.

    From RotoBaller

Charcandrick West Aug 25 11:30am ET

Indianapolis Colts running back Charcandrick West was signed off the street, and, in the third preseason game against the Chicago Bears, he had 13 carries for 43 yards and one touchdown. He also added a little bit in the passing game with three catches for 27 yards. With running back D'Onta Foreman being recently waived, West may have grabbed the fourth running back spot if the team decides to keep that many.

Donte Moncrief Aug 25 11:00am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Donte Moncrief is looking to make his case to become the team's second starting wide receiver and Sunday's third preseason game against the Titans will be a big factor in that decision. Moncrief caught one pass for eight yards in last week's game against the Chiefs, however, he coughed up that single touch. The 27-year-old is in his first year in Pittsburgh after catching 48 passes for 668 yards and three scores with Jacksonville last year. Moncrief is battling with James Washington for the second starting spot, but so far the reports are that the former has the edge even though Washington has played well this preseason. Moncrief has seen his ADP rise a bit recently, as high as into the seventh round according to FantasyFootballCalculator.com.

    From RotoBaller

Ben Roethlisberger Aug 25 10:50am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will open the team's third preseason game on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. It will be the 37-year-old's first taste of the 2019 preseason. While there is no guarantee for how much he'll play in the game, it is likely that Roethlisberger will get two-or three drives, depending on the results. It is also a big question mark on who of Joshua Dobbs or Mason Rudolph will follow up Big Ben in the game. Head coach Mike Tomlin doesn't want fans and media to look into who plays and when, in regards to being Roethlisberger's backup. The Steelers' veteran signal caller is going around the 11th round of fantasy drafts and is a strong option for those who wait to draft their quarterback.

    From RotoBaller

Matt Breida Aug 25 2:43am ET

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida ran for 44 yards on seven carries and caught two passes for 31 yards and a touchdown in the team's third preseason game against the can say Chiefs on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Spin: The fantasy community was quick to brush aside Breida after the 49ers signed Tevin Coleman, but the former is the same back he was last year when he averaged 5.3 yards per carry and 9.7 yards per catch. Breida looked like the better back in this one and could very well begin the season splitting touches with Coleman playing for a coach in Kyle Shanahan who usually gets good production from his running backs. The 24-year-old should be considered a strong RB3 option in fantasy drafts.

    From TheHuddle

Rashaad Penny Aug 25 2:13am ET

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny carried eight times for 22 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 15 yards in the team's third preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Spin: From an efficiency standpoint, it was easily Penny's best performance of the summer. However, he has done very little in exhibition play to put any heat on starter Chris Carson, who appears primed to push for 300 touches if he can stay healthy in Seattle's run-heavy attack. Penny's fantasy upside is immense if Carson misses time, but the second-year back may be little more than a flex option until he earns a more substantial role.

    From TheHuddle

Deebo Samuel Aug 25 12:20am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel caught two of three targets for 27 yards Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. After two solid preseason games, Samuel had a relatively quiet evening. The second-round rookie has demonstrated electric upside and could be in-line for a meaningful role immediately in the Niners offense. With a stellar college resume and advanced skillset, Samuel deserves some sleeper love as RotoBallers WR73.

    From RotoBaller

Dante Pettis Aug 25 12:10am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis grabbed three balls on five targets for 36 yards Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following two quiet games, Pettis was finally in the mix after he indicated he was playing explosive and consistent earlier this week. Despite being pushed by rookies Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd (back), Pettis appears a lock to start heading into Week 1. After emerging as the second option to tight end George Kittle last season, Pettis is shaping up as a solid backend WR2.

    From RotoBaller

Phillip Lindsay Aug 25 12:10am ET

Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay did not take action on Saturday night in the Broncos preseason game versus the Los Angeles Rams. Lindsay is coming off of preseason week two where he took reps with the second team and the backs behind him looked lackluster. The 2nd-year back seems to have the starting job locked up in Denver going into the regular season as he looks to follow up a stellar rookie year.
