Week 12 Results
By The Commissioner Tue Nov 25 7:28pm CT
Down to the final 2 weeks of the season and 1 playoff spot has been secured and some other teams are almost in absent a complete collapse. The wildcard playoff spots are still up for grabs as are 2 of the 3 division titles. The division race scenarios are summarized below, but the possibilities for the wildcard are too numerous to realistically be able to cover them all. We’ll just have to wait for things to clear up after this week's games. Here is the unofficial summary of some of the possible results:
- Beer Division --- Winning Colors has clinched the division title no matter what happens in the last 2 weeks.
- Bourbon Division --- ExStominator holds a 2-game lead over DaRifRaff so unless ExSt loses out while DRR wins out, ExSt gets the division title (15 of 16 possible scenarios). In the other scenario, ExSt and DRR end up tied on overall record but DRR gets the playoff spot based on the better division record.
- Tequila Division --- This remains the most wide open division race as 3 teams are still in the hunt. A Lambeau Leap is in control after his head to head win over Timba’s Tigers last week and wins the division in 8 of the 16 possible scenarios (all due to best overall record). Ace Packer Backer wins the division based on best record in 2 of the 16 scenarios and Timba’s Tigers gets the nod with the best record in 1 of the 16 scenarios. The remaining 5 scenarios end up with a tie for the best record (2-way tie in 4 of the 5 and 3-way tie in the other). LL is involved in all 5 of those ties --- 2 with APB, 2 with TT and 1 with both APB and TT. In each case, it will come down to head to head points to break the tie (or total points if still tied after looking at head to head points).
The possibilities for the 3 wildcard playoff spots are always a bit more complicated, and there are always a lot more possible scenarios --- too many to fully analyze all the potential outcomes. Here are some of the possibilities --- unofficially of course ---
- ExStorminator and A Lambeau Leap are both in pretty good shape for at least a wildcard based on their current 8-4 records which are 2nd best in the league trailing only Winning Colors best mark of 9-3.
- The 3 teams sitting at 7-5 (FloJoRo’s, Ace Packer Backer and Timba’s Tigers) would all make the playoffs if the season ended now, but still have some work to do. One win in the final 2 weeks would go a long way to securing a playoff spot and 2 wins would clinch it.
- The 2 teams at 6-6 (Jimmy’s Boys and DaRifRaff) could move into serious consideration for a wildcard with wins in each of the final 2 weeks. In fact, if DRR wins out, he still has a shot at the division title.
- Wrinkled & Green sits at 5-7 and must win out to get to 7-7 and have several other teams lose out to have any remote chance at a wildcard.
- Teams with no chance of making the playoffs --- last year’s league champ Risky, along with Colts and The Bungals are all mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
Congratulations to our week 12 winners (listed in order of points scored): Ace Packer Backer, Wrinkled & Green, Winning Colors, A Lambeau Leap, Jimmy’s Boys and DaRifRaff.
Ace Packer Backer gets his 2nd high scorer award for the season, joining Winning Colors and FloJoRo’s as the only 2-time winners this season. DaRifRaff has the lowest points by a winning team with the 4th lowest total points. Colts is unlucky as he has the 3rd highest points but plays the highest scoring team this past week.
Colts hits the 100% efficiency mark for the 2nd straight week and The Bungals also hits 100%, but neither can secure a win with that high efficiency mark. Jimmy’s Boys is at the bottom with his 69.0% mark, but still enough to get the win. Year to date, Winning Colors moves into the top spot with his 91.5% rate while DRR drops to 2nd place at 91.3%. TT slides below 90% for the 1st time in a long while. Wrinkled & Green remains at the bottom year-to-date at 80.7% but at least crawls above the 80% level for the 1st time in forever.
No scoring records this past week, but one negative performance --- Timba’s Tigers gets –3 from his D/ST. High scorer by position this past week and all time marks are as follows:
- QB – 30 (FloJoRo’s) for the week --- high for the season is 46 (Timba’s Tigers in week 11); all time high is 57 by Winning Colors (2013, week 1)
- RB – 43 (Ace Packer Backer) for the week; high for the season is 46 (A Lambeau Leap in week 10); all time high is 52 by The Bungals (2020, week 16)
- WR – 28 (Ace Packer Backer) for the week; high for the season is 29 (Colts in week 2 and Risky in week 9); all time high is 41 by Jimmy’s Boys (2013, week 13)
- TE – 10 (A Lambeau Leap) for the week; high for the season is 30 (The Bungals in week 9); all time high is 32 by Da Bears (Mike Kirkham in 2014, week 8)
- K – 18 (Colts) for the week; high for the season is 22 (Jimmy’s Boys in week 2); all time high is 30 by A Lambeau Leap (2012, week 15)
- D/ST – 27 (A Lambeau Leap) for the week; high for the season is 38 (ExStorminator in week 3); all time high is 45 by A Lambeau Leap (2012, week 14)
In the NFL Picks Timba’s Tigers goes 11-3 to move into a 2nd place tie with A Lambeau Leap, each trailing leader Wrinkled & Green by 2 games.
