Week 13 Results
By The Commissioner Mon Dec 1 11:25pm CT
Still one week to go in the regular season, but all 6 playoff spots have been secured. The only thing left now is the seeding of the playoff teams. Here are the ‘unofficial’ scenarios ---
- All 3 division titles have been secured --- Winning Colors in Beer Division, ExStorminator in Bourbon Division and A Lambeau Leap in Tequila Division. There is still the possibility of a tie for 1st place in Tequila Division between LL and Timba’s Tigers, and this would still be tied base on head to head record and division record, but LL gets the nod based on head to head points.
- Timba’s Tigers, FloJRo’s and Ace Packer Backer have all secured a wildcard playoff spot. DaRifRaff and Jimmy’s Boys could each tie APB with a win this coming week coupled with a loss by APB, but since APB beat both of those teams in their head to head matches, he would still get the nod for the wildcard playoff spot.
- As far as the top 2 seeds --- which get 1st round byes --- essentially 3 teams are in the running (although there is a remote chance of FloJoRo’s moving into the #2 seed) --- Winning Colors at 10-3 and ExStorminator and A Lambeau Leap at 9-4. If WC wins next week, he secures the #1 seed. But a loss by WC coupled with a win by either ExSt or LL results in a 2-way tie for the best record. In a tie between WC and LL, WC is #1 and LL is #2 by virtue of WC winning their head to head match. But if the 2-way tie is WC and ExSt, then ExSt won their regular season match and would get the #1 seed with WC then being #2. And if both LL and ExSt win coupled with a WC loss, then there is a 3-way tie and it would go to head to head points since each team won one and lost one against the other two. Head to head points has WC getting the #1 seed with 234 points in his head to head matches against the other 2, and ExSt edging out LL for the #2 seed with 203 head to head points versus 202 for LL. LL would be the #3 seed. There are some other scenarios where 2 of the 3 lose or even all 3 lose. WC is going to get no worse than a #2 seed in any case, but LL and ExSt with a loss next week could drop as low as a #3 or #4 seed, or even a #5 seed in the case of ExSt. It depends on whether FloJoRo’s or Timba’s Tigers (or both) win in the coming week.
- The bottom part of the seedings have a lot of possible scenarios and not going to even attempt to cover all of those. But here are a couple of key points. FJR could get into the #2 seed with a win this coming week coupled with losses by both ExSt and LL since he won his head to head match against both of them (and also against Timba’s Tigers). Neither TT or Ace Packer Backer have any shot of getting a 1st round bye. TT could get anywhere from #3 to #6 seed and APB is going to be either #5 or #6 seed (depending on whether or not he beats TT this coming week). There are just too many other possibilities to cover.
DISCLAIMER --- These are based on quick analysis but the multitude of possible scenarios, final decision on seeding of playoff teams will be determined after week 14 game results are final.
