This week was quite an interesting one in the FFF. Most of the contests were tight and came right down to the wire on Monday Night. The result is a muddying of the FFF standings (7 teams are 2-2) that opens things up to just about everyone. Both of our undefeated teams took tough first losses, and the injury bug continues to bite every week to many of our big names. To make matters worse, this week begins the dreaded Bye weeks.
WEEK #4 RESULTS:
TROYSBOYS UPSET DUTCHMEN: One week removed from their worst game of the season, TroysBoys stunned Dutchmen by having their best game of the season in convincing fashion. Dutch suffers his first loss with his worst game so far. Troy was carried by Dak (40.1) on Sunday Night, who had his best of the season too. Huge game from Lions Defense also bolstered Boys, while Dmen had subpar games from Herbert and Henry.
GENERALS NIP XTREME: It was the closest game of the season so far as Xtreme loses by 0.4 points to Generals. Hard luck Xmen have now lost two games this year by less than one point (Week #2 to TroysBoys by 0.9 pts.) The two players Gmen had on Monday Night did just enough to top X's one Monday Nighter. (Fields). Generals dynamic WR tandem (Amon and Puka) led the way for them again. Xmen have scored over 113 points two weeks in a row and have nothing to show for it.
SCHEME TEAM COME BACK TO EDGE HAMMERHEADS: Hammerheads lose their first game of season on Monday Night as Schemer's did just enough to obtain the victory. Both teams lost key players to injury. Scheme missed Metcalf's big game on their bench. Heads finally got their RB's going, but everyone else flopped. The loss broke the Hammerheads' 10 game winning streak, dating back to last season (Record is 13 - Xtreme, 2003-2004)
HONEYMOONERS HOLD OFF ND: A furious ND rally on Monday Night fell short as Honeymooners come away with a big win here. Bijan led a balanced Mooner attack, while ND was buoyed by another big Patrick performance. Both squads had lousy efforts from their defenses. Loss of Nabers hurt ND badly.
WHITE CITY DEVILS TOP BARON'S CORNER: In a hard fought 'A' Division battle, James Cook led Devils to a big win here. Baron was led by Josh Allen again, but came up a little short as they were let down by Raven defense.
RAIDERS8 UNPLUG TOASTER OVEN: Raiders had by far their best game of the season in an easy win over Toaster. Jordan Love (thanks to Dallas D) led the way for Raiders, who finally got a good game from star Jeanty. Oven was let down by their WR corps.
WEEK #5 MATCHUPS:
DUTCHMEN VS. ND: Big 'B' Division showdown pits two of the top four in FFF Power Rankings against one another. ND has lost two in a row and will have tough sledding in this one with many attractive player matchups for Dutch and ND thinned by injuries.
GENERALS VS. SCHEME TEAM: Surging Gmen have scored over 100 three weeks in a row and are now #2 in Power Rankings. Both teams coming off of close victories and in the midst of "B" Division title chase.
XTREME VS. TROYSBOYS: Winless Xtreme already get a rematch of their painful Week #2 loss to TroysBoys (by 0.9 pts). Their two QB's go head-to-head in a football version of Schlockfest.
HAMMERHEAD VS. RAIDERS8: Also a Week #2 rematch which Hammerheads won easily. Raiders playing well now as their young stars begin to emerge. Thin Heads weakened by Bye and injuries, particularly to star Lamar. Great player matchups should allow Raiders to pile on the points.
BARON'S CORNER VS. HONEYMOONERS: Big 'A' Division matchup is yet another Week #2 rematch, which Baron won in a battle. Baron on two game slide are now in a dogfight for division supremacy. Bye Week and injury cripple Honeymooners here, who will be without Bijan.
TOASTER OVEN VS. WHITE CITY DEVILS: One last Week #2 rematch, a game White City won handily. Oven needs more firepower, not having topped 91 points yet this season. Bye Week hurts both teams a bit.
