Teams were really slugging it out in FFF Week #12 as we near the end of the regular season. Scoring was even lower than the previous week, with only three teams topping 100 points. Our Division title battles are still undecided. For three weeks in a row now we have had a different player top 48 points.
'A' Division: This is a bit complicated. Hammerheads lead by two games with two games to go, and they are tough ones. If Hammerheads lose both games and Raiders8, Baron's Corner, or Honeymooners win two games, we would have to use the Division title tiebreaker process. First is Head-to-Head, and if it's multiple teams it's their combined record against each other. Next is Division record. Third tiebreaker is Total Points. So, a lot is still up in the air.
'B' Division: Dutchmen have a one game lead over ND and Scheme Team, and two games over TroysBoys. The top three have all split with each other, and TroysBoys play both ND and Scheme Team in their last two weeks to decide their fate.
Here are the Total Points Standings (with 10 points included for each win):
1) DUTCHMEN: 1376 + 80 = 1456
2) ND: 1257 + 70 = 1327
3) SCHEME TEAM: 1215.4 + 70 = 1285.4
4) TROYSBOYS: 1214.7 + 60 = 1274.7
5) HAMMERHEADS: 1167.1 + 80 = 1247.1
6) BARON'S CORNER: 1167.6 + 60 = 1227.6
7) HONEYMOONERS: 1162.5 + 60 = 1222.5
8) XTREME: 1191.6 + 30 = 1221.6
9) GENERALS: 1163.7 + 50 = 1213.7
10) RAIDERS8: 1097.4 + 60 = 1157.4
11) WHITE CITY DEVILS: 1099.1 + 50 = 1149.1
12) TOASTER OVEN: 1084.9 + 50 = 1134.9
WEEK #12 RESULTS:
DUTCHMEN DESTROY ND: The Dutchmen had the 10th best game in FFF history with their 161.8-point eruption against ND, propelling the Dmen into sole possession of first in the 'B' Division. Dutch had every starter in double digits, four of them over 20 points each, led by RB Gibbs' 49.9-point game. Gibbs has three games over 35 points in the last six he has played. ND was led by Smith-Njigba's best game of the season, but their RB's let them down here. Dutchmen now control their own destiny for Division title.
GENERALS OUTMUSCLE WHITE CITY DEVILS: Generals had the second best FFF performance of the week as they beat White City Devils and kept their playoff chances alive. Gmen had their best game since Week #7 and all but one starter in double digits, led by St. Brown. Devils had big game from QB Williams and RB Cook, but needed more help from others.
TOASTER OVEN BURNS SCHEME TEAM: This was a big upset and very damaging to the Scheme Team's chance for a Division title as Toaster shocks Schemers. Hurts led Toaster, who overcame a zero from WR Williams, who had been averaging double digits for three weeks. Injury to Baker doomed Schemers here, who had McCaffrey and little else.
XTREME BEST BARON'S CORNER: For only the second time this season Xtreme had an opponent score less than 100 points, which enabled Xmen to win with a less than stellar performance. X's Stafford had a solid day, as did TE Henry. Baron was hurt by poor game from QB Allen, who usually carries his team. RB Kareem Hunt led Corner, who had their worst game of the season.
TROYSBOYS SLAP RAIDERS8: Impressive win for TroysBoys as they keep their playoff and division title hopes alive. AJ and Drake led the way for Troy, who had no faith in Dak (34.6 points on bench). Bad game for Love hurt Raiders, who had nice performances from RB's Jeanty and Brown.
HONEYMOONERS HOLD OFF HAMMERHEADS: It came right down to the end on Monday Night, but Honeymooners held on for a key victory over rival Hammerheads. With the win Mooners keep their playoff and Division title hopes alive and simultaneously hurt both for Hammerheads. Loss by 1.2 points was Hammerheads closest of the season. Neither team performed well, but Mooners did just a little better. Backup defense Green Bay bailed out Mooners. Hammer was hurt by yet another poor game from QB Lamar, and missed some big games on their bench.
WEEK #13 MATCHUPS:
DUTCHMEN VS. WHITE CITY DEVILS: Old rivals, but two teams headed in opposite directions (Dutchmen #1 in FFF Power Rankings and White City Devils #12). Combined they have won three of the last four FFF Super Bowls, but Dutchmen are looking to successfully defend their Championship while White City have had a disappointing year. Devils have lost two in a row while Dmen are coming off best FFF game of the season. Dutchmen players have some attractive matchups.
GENERALS VS. RAIDERS8: Both teams on the outside looking in on the playoffs, but hoping to make a strong final push. Gmen have won two in a row while Raiders have lost last two. Gmen are led by great WR duo, while Raiders hoping Ja'Marr can add to their growing young stars.
SCHEME TEAM VS. TROYSBOYS: Must win for both as they struggle to keep up with Dutchmen for Division title. Teams are 3 and 4 in playoff seeding right now, so this should be a competitive contest. Schemers won Week #1 matchup. Possible concerns at QB for Scheme, and injuries have hurt both teams.
XTREME VS. HONEYMOONERS: Teams are nearly identical in point totals in rankings above, with both just a few points out of playoffs. High scoring is needed here, though both teams coming off of big wins despite low scoring. Mooners also competing for chance at Division title and must win here for that.
ND VS. HAMMERHEADS: Huge game for both. Both teams need a win in their respective fights for Division titles. Both teams coming off of painful losses to Division rivals and need to rebound here after not playing so great recently. Hammer hoping to avoid a Mets-like collapse. ND is #2 in Overall Points while Hammerheads are #2 in FFF Power Rankings.
BARON'S CORNER VS. TOASTER OVEN: Baron fighting for playoffs and Division title and thus must win here. Toaster Oven relishing the spoiler role, having beaten some of the highest ranked teams already, as well as having their best game of season in Week #10 win over Baron. Baron has lost 4 of 5, while Toaster has won 4 of last 6. As Josh Allen goes, so goes the Baron.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL! HAVE A GREAT DAY AND ENJOY FAMILY AND FOOTBALL.
