Perfection
For the first time since Week 5, we have perfection in the Real Power Rankings©!! With The Baggers 117pt demolition of The Chaos this week, totally skipping the 800s in points scored, and 11-0 performance against the league, they have achieved a perfect ranking of 36pts!
On the other end of the spectrum of notoriety, we have The Doves who logged a win that was downright providential—scraping by with one of the lowest scores in the league. It felt less like skill and more like divine intervention, literally needing a turnover in the closing seconds to allow The Warlocks to drop below them. Somehow, numerically speaking at least, they ARE NOT the luckiest team in the league. (I'm genuinely questioning the whole algorithm...)
The Smash jumped five points in the rankings this week with their 96pt performance, going 9-1-1 against the league! It should come as no surprise that The Phoenix dropped SEVEN points with their 45 point showing, but I use that term very loosely. Perhaps we are in the "ashes" point of the cycle?
The Wombat Platoon continue to be the luckiest team in the league. The Doves, however, seem to firmly hold this title when using the eyeball test. The only way to explain it is that they have scored a few more points and hold a few hundredths of a point lead in the breakdown...
We have an absolute log-jam for unluckiest team! The Gamblers, The Brute Squad, and The Chaos all claim the title! A luck factor of -4 isn't actually that bad, though, considering we've seen as unlucky as -7 this season. It is interesting that they are spread pretty evenly down the rankings board.
This week's Poor Bastard is The Brute Squad who posted 72 points in a loss. They were still under the league average, so I'm not sure too many tears should be shed for them, but they did go 6-4-1 against the league.
Our Lucky Bastard - and possibly laying claim to the season title - is The Doves. Not only did they NOT top 60 points, NOT come close to the league average of 75, but (as stated earlier) needed The Warlocks to (beep, beep, beep) back it up on a last second turnover from 60 to 58, HANDING them a win. (The only redeeming quality to this situation is the turnover secured the Eagles win over the Packers, to the delight of most of the league!)
