LATE TD BY DANIELS GIVES JAY 3 POINT WIN OVER TIM
By The Commissioner Tue Oct 7 8:15pm CT

71 - 68 win also gives Jay the week's high score
WEEK 5 IN REVIEW: In the whackiest game of the year so far, Jay (3 - 2) blew a big lead then came back to beat Tim 71 - 68. Already up by two scores with only 1:08 to play, Jayden Daniels somehow found it necessary to pile on the Chargers with a late TD pass, which allowed Jay to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Also with 1:08 to play in Seattle, Mayfield's TD not only gave Tim the lead, but also deducted 3 defensive points from Jay. Then Daniels threw his totally unnecessary TD and Tim fell to 2 - 3. But even with that record, Tim still clings to 1st place in the Curly Division....In another game decided late, Darren gets 20 Monday night points (19 from Mahomes) to edge Hack 57 - 56. Darren would have won comfortably if his kicker hadn't blown out his knee. And Hack may have won comfortably if Jameson Williams would have had more than 2 touches and 10 yards. Both teams are now 2 - 3....Scott had 6 guys listed as out and 4 more on bye as his shorthanded squad lost to Charlie 65 - 50. Not that it would have made a difference, but complicating things more for Scott was one of his few healthy guys got inadvertently left on his bench because he was playing at 9:30 am in England. Watch out for those stupid foreign games. Charlie, now 5 - 0, maintains his 3 game lead in the Larry Division....Also staying unbeaten is the Commish after his 61 - 52 win over Troy. Troy, who lost Omarion Hampton and possibly Barkley to injuries, took an 8 point lead into Sunday night. Things were dicey for a while as the Bills played like crap, but Josh's 2 second half TD's put me over the top....Ryan finally got some production from JaMarr Chase and a monster game from Dowdle, but he still came up short in his quest for his 1st SFL win. Steve, now 2 - 3, comes away with a 66 - 58 win after Ryan's Monday night comeback attempt falls short. Ryan was down by 15, but with B.Thomas failing to get in the endzone, again, and with Butker attempting 0 field goals, he only added 7 to his total....And finally, Nate wins his 4th in a row by pummeling Doc 59 - 33. Both teams entered tied for the lead in the Shemp Division at 3 - 1. With Lamar Jackson out, Doc had to go with Geno Smith and that did not go very well. Doc had zero TD's in his lineup as he falls a game behind at 3 - 2.....Elsewhere: It was a tough week in the Pick'ems as the best record was 7 - 7, won by yours truly with the tie breaker. And in the Survivor Pool, choke jobs by the Bills and Cardinals led to a mass casualty event. Scott and myself are now out, and Darren, Ryan, Nate and Jay all got their 1st strike. So, those 4 plus Doc have 1 strike while only Charlie and Hack move on unblemished. Everybody else has been eliminated.
