Loss to Charlie ends 9 game win streak

WEEK 10 IN REVIEW: In Berlin, Charlie jumps out to a 47 - 0 lead as the Jags and Texans conveniently go to overtime, just like the script said, allowing Taylor to pile on a bunch of extra yards and a 3rd, suspiciously easy TD. Charlie (7 - 3) holds on to win 72 - 63 as my comeback attempt was hampered by Dicker's doink from 55 yards out, Jacobs' late fumble, and the Bills gameplan that was dug up from the Trent Edwards drought years. "Everybody eats". Too bad most of what the Bills were serving was dropped on the floor....Amid now debunked collusion claims, which obviously motivated Jay's team, Jay (7 - 3) picks up the week 10 high score as he cruises to an 85 - 63 win over Ryan. Jay has 6 guys in double figures as Ryan (3 - 7) had to do some late week scrambling just to field a team. Injuries and byes left him with no QB and only 5 viable players before he agreed to the "controversial" trade to bolster his line-up. And, in my opinion, it was a trade that should help both teams even though we both lost this week....With Ryan losing, Tim (4 - 6) reclaims 1st place in the Curly Division by beating Scott (2 - 8) in a big divisional game, 43 - 34. Once again, the 2nd lowest score of the week beats the lowest score. "It's all about the match-ups". This sets up a week 11 showdown between Tim and Ryan with the winner holding the tie-breaker until the week 14 rematch....Also making a trade this week was Troy, who needed a kicker. He ends up obtaining Jake Bates from Tim, and Bates was 3 for 3 on FG's. But Troy (4 - 6) needed at least 3 more FG's as he lost to Darren 54 - 44. Darren (5 - 5) gets another solid game from Dart, who had 2 rushing TD's before leaving with a concussion. Troy, who's still hoping that Saquon Barkley stops running like Charles Barkley, faces off next against Steve in a game that should have huge implications on the wild card race....Speaking of Steve (4 - 6), he picks up a huge win over Nate (5 - 5), beating him 65 - 50 in a game that featured lots of Lions. Steve gets a 0 from his QB, Young, but Gibbs (24 points) matches Goff's output for Nate, and Nate's supporting cast was outscored 65 - 26. Nate will look to get back on track with a game against Scott next....And finally, with Nate losing, Hack (6 - 4) is now the new leader in the Shemp Division after beating Doc 66 - 51. Doc (4 - 6) held a slim 2 point lead after Sunday. And amazingly, that score held up into the 4th quarter in Green Bay, prompting Hack to threaten to cut Hurts mid-game. But finally, with 10:35 left on Monday, Hurts hit DeVonta Smith (also Hack's guy) in the end zone to put Doc out of his misery....ELSEWHERE: with 4 regular season games left, it's a good time to reiterate how the playoffs work. The 4 division winners are in and will be seeded 1 - 4. Yes, that means the winner of the Curly Division will be one of the top 4 seeds. After that, 4 wild card teams will be seeded 5 - 8. If 2 teams are tied for the last playoff spot, it's head-to-head results. If 3 or more teams are tied, it goes right to total points. So if the playoffs started tomorrow, Doc would be out. The 4 non-qualifying teams play round robin for the Mayors Cup....SURVIVOR POOL: after picking winners the first 8 weeks of the season, Charlie picks his 2nd loser in a row (Bills) and is out. This leaves Hack, Nate, and Darren still alive, but all are working on their last strike.... And in the Pick'ems, Doc salvages something from the week as he wins outright with a 10 - 4 mark. Had it come down to the tie breaker, nobody was even close with Jay being the nearest at 42. I was 8 - 6, but still hold a 5 game lead in the overall standings.
