The Last Real Champion Issue #524
The Cowboys win again and reign supreme in the Southern Comfort division.
The start of The Cowboys 2025 season is how each of us envisions the way things should be. The Cowboys are the reigning, defending, undisputed, undefeated champions. No reigning champion has ever gone this deep into a season undefeated. It’s got to be a great feeling and they deserve the accolades and ink. In week 5, The Cowboys faced G-Force with total control of the Southern Comfort division lying in the balance. The battled back and forth all game log, but The Cowboys prevailed victorious, defeating G-Force, 268-252.
The win gave the Cowboys a full 2 game and 158 point lead. Locking The Cowboys into first place until at least the end of October no matter if they win or not. This has been one of the most impressive and dominant year and a half runs in OSFL history. G-Force falls to 3-2, 2 games and 158 points behind The Cowboys in 2nd place.
G’ss Mafia erupted in week 5. Five of G’ss Mafia’s players cored 36+ points, lead by Rico Dowdle who set the yearly high with 206 yards rushing/73 points, G’ss Mafia demolished Dynamic Duo, 331-239. The 331 points scored wasn’t just the weekly high score, it was the seasonal high score thru 5 games. It was a huge victory for G’ss Mafia who improve to 3-2 and are now tied with G-Force for the second best record in the Metro West division. Dynamic Duo fall to 0-5, their worst start to a season in team history. Bronx Swag were able to fend off a late run by XXXL, 248-227, improving to 2-3. Led by CMC who continues his impressive comeback. McCaffrey has scored 36+ points in every game this season. He is the poster boy for consistency. XXXL suffers their second loss of the season but remain in first place at 3-2 and they still have the most points in the division, but there are now 4 teams within 43 points of XXXL. Phriends of the Devil improved to 3-2 as they stopped Allbrite Picks, 252-199. POTD are in 2nd place, trailing XXXL by just 25 points. Allbrite Picks has lost 2 in a row and fallen into the Metro West basement at 2-3. In the closest game of the season, led by their 2 biggest stars on the roster (Baker Mayfield/63 points and Jaxon Smith-Njigba/46 points) The Wolfpack outlasted TWB, 211-210 to save their season from collapse. The Wolfpack have the 12th ranked offense but are hanging onto the 4th place spot for dear life at 2-3. It’s a devastating loss for TWB who fall to 1-4.
I predicted last week that everything would get a lot tighter. 1 game separates the entire Metro West division. I don’t care if your undefeated or winless. Nothing has been remotely decided yet. Neither good nor bad luck lasts forever. All tides turn. Injuries are occurring with more frequency than ever. You have to roll with the punches and battle your way forward. Hold the line until something good happens. We are all 3 feet from gold. Don’t stop digging.
Games of the Week
Week #6
Week 5 picks (3-3)/Season (12-12)
The Wolfpack (2-3) Vs Phriends of the Devil (3-2)
I didn’t come into the week with the intention of writing what I’m about to write but it needs to be said. I want to say I got some great advice from Ron Zednik. He told me not to feed into any of this stuff. It’s great advice, but I can’t take it. I have to say what I have to say. For the Phriends of the Devil’s benefit I’m going to explain my point of view and the way we do things in The OSFL. We play the game with honor here. Win or lose I know to a man you did the best you could with the information you had. You didn’t cheat, you didn’t circumvent the rules, you weren’t looking for an angle to squeeze something by. The league that Kon runs is much different than the OSFL. That league is called Phriends of the Devil. There are dozens if not a 100 trades a year in that league and some of the trades are questionable at best. Players are frequently traded back and forth from team to team after one week. The OSFL has 6 supplemental drafts a year and 3 compensation picks, capping teams pick ups to 9 players per year, barring a trade. In Kon’s league it’s an all you can eat free for all buffet immediately after the draft. You can drop and pick up as many players as you want in a week at any time after Wednesday including on game day. The rules are a flag flapping in a strong breeze. Sometimes they blow this way, sometimes they blow that way. It’s very chaotic, Kon is the commissioner and he thrives on the chaos. I pay my $225 league fee and I accept the madness. The best way I can describe Kon’s league compared to the OSFL is like being in an open relationship where you attend a gangbang orgy every week to being in a monogamous faithful relationship. There is canyon between how we conduct ourselves here and how they conduct themselves there. They deal with the same issues over and over again. It is the definition of insanity. Kon has a heavy influence over many owners which often drifts into manipulation where he has cultivated a pigeon coop. He has a group of 3 or 4 owner that he bamboozels into these crazy trades that would never fly here. I believe there is much behind the scenes talk with these owners about who they should and shouldn’t start against multiple opponents. I have pictures from their draft where 3 different teams have converged at one table to discuss who should be selected. It is behavior that isn’t excepted here. If we had 3 different owners converge at one table to discuss who should be picked, I think there’s a strong possibility that fisticuffs would arise. I do not expect Kon to agree with me on any of this. Much of this is my opinion, but where there’s smoke there’s fire. I believe Kon is attempting to form his own pigeon coop here and Jay Greenless is #1 one on that hit list. I like Jay a lot, I respect him and I do not think he is at fault in any way in this matter, nor do I believe he will become one of Kon’s pigeons. I think all of you are too intelligent for that. Having said that, Kon sent me a text on Tuesday saying that “Jay texted me and I had to convince him to play Rico Dowdle.” Now why he would think that’s a good text to send to me is baffling. Kon is in another division and while he didn’t break any rules, he showed that he is attempting to bring that “Outlaw style” to the OSFL. When you’re playing me I expect you to want to kill me, I do not expect any mercy, but once we move on I don’t expect you to continue to try to hurt me. I don’t understand the attacks on me, I don’t know what I did to Kon. I’m 0-5, I’m a dead man walking. There’s no need to try and “convince” my opponent who he should play. I along with Ron Zednik was one of Kon’s biggest advocates for getting his own team. I wanted him here, I still want him here. I thought his free-wheeling trader style could inject excitement. You don’t need to be convincing anyone of anything when it comes to their starting line up. I write an opinion in the gazette and then leave it, which most of you ignore. I do not call/text owners and try too convince them of anything. If I have done this, call bullshit on me. I want you to post on the website that I’m a liar and that I’ve attempted to convince you to do anything against anybody. I’m not saying you can’t talk to other owners, talk about anything you want, you have no restrictions on what you can or cannot talk about unless you’re trying to convince other team owners what they should or shouldn’t do. I wonder if you would be convincing owners who they should play if they were playing you. Again I do not believe anyone in the OSFL can be convinced of anything by anyone except your own partners, I’m not trying to insult anyones intelligence but even the attempt to try to convince someone of something is unacceptable behavior. By one of his own partners admissions, he said while this might not be a hanging offense, Kon’s behavior is a slippery slope. Again I do not expect him to agree with me but he can be manipulative in his own league. He’s got his fingers in too many peoples business over there. I’ve dealt with similar personalities here in the OSFL in the past and they’re all gone now. We’ve come too far to backtrack into this nonsense again. This is my one and only attempt to scare Kon straight. I have said things to him off the record that have probably gone too far. I’ll admit that. I told him that Dino is the commissioner and I trust his decisions to no end and while I haven’t always agreed with them. We talk about it like gentlemen, and Dino’s decision has always been final. I have never reversed a decision, I cannot. I play with integrity and honor and I will protect that to the ultimate end. That is 100% true, but I also told him as far as the OSFL as a whole entity goes, I am the alpha and the fucking omega. I am the beginning and the end. If I turn out the lights, the lights are out forever. If I’m not here there is no OSFL and I was willing to present to the OSFL it’s a him or me scenario, which would end badly for him. While all of this might be true, I went too far. This is not a rules violation. To me this is a personnel issue and an understood code of conduct issue that I thought Kon understood because he was part of the Cowboys for 3 years and we didn’t have any of these problems. Kon has tried to paint this issue in many other broad strokes.
Kon has attempted to twist this to whatever narrative fits. I’m 0-5 so I’m salty, he screwed me on the trade so I’m mad about that, he didn’t break any rules, he’s flipped from telling me to go fuck myself that he’s talked to Dino and there’s nothing I can do, to posting a crazy rambling apology that turned into an attack on me on the message board. I don’t care about any of it. None of it is accurate and I don’t believe any of it. If one of you came to me and told me you were talking to Kon’s opponent, trying to “Convince” the opponent who to play, I would tell you, you’re out of your mind and stop it immediately, but I know I don’t have to do that because all of you play with a high standard of integrity. None of you have to be convinced of anything. You paid your league fee and make your own decisions. No one is manipulating anyone here. That behavior will be snuffed out immediately and that’s what this is about. Kon didn’t break a rule, but in my opinion his behavior lacked integrity. I am as much to blame for this as Kon is. I facilitated his ownership into the OSFL. I have to give Ron Zednik a lot of credit, he apparently kept Kon in check. For 3 years there were no issues, but he has no governor here. His partner Marc Moody has attacked me in their group message chat, telling me he won’t be silenced and that I can’t tell them what they can or cannot do. Talking to another team and giving an opinion and convincing them of making a decision on who they should and shouldn’t play are 2 different things. The latter is crossing the line. Marc is always looking for an angle to exploit and an inciter looking to burn everything down and never offering a solution. It’s so bizarre to me because in real life Marc is one of the most honest, level headed people I know. In Fantasy Football it’s like that scene in Breaking Bad when Hank says to Walt, I don’t even know who I’m taking to. This guy is out of his mind, just looking to argue and incite the chaos. Mr Renzi is a reasonable wiseman but his voice is soft and I don’t know if it’s enough to reel the rest of Phriends of the Devil in. If Kon fails then I failed all of you. I’ve seen Kon’s behavior in his own league and I’ve dealt with owners who’ve behaved just like him over the years, they’re all gone. I’m not putting up with this. This is my doing so I’m dealing with this. There’s nothing he can say to anyone that will change my perception of what this situation is at it’s core. I’m trying to nip this in the bud. Kon will act like a Boy Scout from here on out or Phriends of the Devil will be gone at the end of the season. I don’t want to do that, but I know where this road leads with him. It’s not pretty and it will undermine the status quo The OSFL has had for the last decade or longer.
This is not a threat. If Phriends of the Devil cannot play with honor and integrity that’s on them. There are no stables here on the OSFL. Each team is an island. That’s the way we like it, that’s the way we want it and that’s the way it will be. If I have to nuke Phriends of the Devil I will. The latch is up and my finger is on the button. I really don’t want to press it. I want him here. I sincerely do. I don’t like giving up on people. I think Kon has something to offer the OSFL. I admire his aggressiveness, passion and tenacity to win. He is willing to trade anyone, that is why I brought him into the fold. I know Kon knows football, but no one wants or needs him to convince them of anything in this league. Not that he even could, but even attempting to use manipulation in the OSFL is not going to fly. I refuse to allow it. As far as Kon’s narratives, I’ll answer all of them. I am 0-5, it sucks. If any of you faced what I have faced, the majority of you would be 0-5 or 1-4. It is what it is, if we go 0-14 we go 0-14. I would love to mount a come back and win but it might not be in the cards. Obviously I’m not happy with my record but reaction to Kon’s behavior has nothing to do with my record. As far as the trade. I would make the trade I made with Kon 100 times out of 100. The guys got hurt what can you do. For the first 2 weeks of the trade, we’ve won the points differential in the trade. It was a good trade, I still think it’s a good trade. To say I’m doing this because of the trade is madness. He didn’t break any rules, but he’s a pirate. The age of pirates is over in the OSFL. There was a time when the OSFL was the Wild West but that ended 28 years ago. He can tell me to go fuck myself, I don’t take it personal. I said a lot of things to him that might have gone too far because I’m trying to nip this in the bud. Kon also said he was breaking my balls with the text. Ask Ron Zednik how many times I’ve fined or suspended him over the years over texts or actions he thought was funny and I thought breached the integrity of the league. I don’t wan’t or need his apology. Just show me you can play this game the right way. I know you can. This is about accountability. There’s too much at stake here. I want you here. I really don’t want to do what I can almost guarantee Kon is going to force me to do. I really don’t know if Kon can control himself, that remains to be seen. What I know is that we had no drama, you created this drama and no one wants to deal with it. This week has been my most stressful week in the OSFL in well over a decade. I really don’t care if you disagree with everything I just wrote, or you think I took something the wrong way or I offended you or any of it. I don’t care. I’ve had to walk a 29 year veteran to the door. If you think it will bother me to nuke you, I will forget you like the fart I just blew. You will stop this behavior immediately or you will be gone. I cannot be any clearer than that. If I get a whiff of impropriety from any of the members of Phriends of the Devil there will be a crater where they used to be. Complaining about this or causing drama over this is the wrong approach. I also don’t want the OSFL to shun Phriends of the Devil that’s not what this is about. If you do the right thing, we embrace you. You may discover Phriends of the Devil might be the most reasonable trade partner in the OSFL. I’m going to end on a positive note. I know the OSFL is different than almost any other league. I want this to work. I’m asking a lot from you. I want your loyalty, your integrity and I want you to play with honor. I want you to be a part of us. This is for all of you. I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it. You’re way too smart to not know when you’ve crossed the line. I don’t need words from you. Show me you can do the right thing and want to be here.
I’m not breaking down this game piece by piece, you forced me to go places that drained me. The Wolfpack are still all beat up, even coming off a huge win, I’m taking Phriends of the Devil to win.
Bronx Swag (2-3) Vs The Cowboys (5-0)
I have to deal with more foolishness in this game. I have to post a retraction to the story reported on last week about Don getting beat up by a girl at a bus stop years ago. It was all bull shit. I asked both Vin Roc and Ron if the story was true and they both said it was so I printed the story and then on Tuesday morning I asked Ron again and he said, it wasn’t true, he was trying to feed his mouthpiece mascot material. What the fuck is wrong with you guys? You made me write about a story that was fake. I wrote that it was a true story because you told me it was a true story. You know what I realized the other day, the two rats that cheated in the OSFL’s first year, making a trade that backfired, a trade that was supposed to load up Ron but ended up pushing Vin to the very first and his only championship to date, are now together 30 years later. I find that ironic. They are the reason why we call the OSFL trophy The Cheetah Cup. In 1996, Vin did a similar thing Kon did. We didn’t have cell phones back then. Vin called me and told me, “We tried to make a supa team.” I said what did you just say Vin? I told him that he just admitted that they cheated and he hung up on me. I fined both of them and the rest is history. Not for one second have I ever placed the integrity of this league in front of anyone including myself. I refuse to be a part of it. I refuse to accept it. The Cowboys love controversy. It’s not enough for them to be 5-0 with the #1 offense in the OSFL, they had to embellish this stupid story to embarrass Don, who to his credit took it in stride. Don I apologize for printing that garbage. Vin Roc needs new material, his tied old jokes are landing like a lead balloon. Ron stop making up bullshit and passing it off as real things. Class dismissed. The Cowboys lose Jordan Addison to his BYE, but get Josh Jacobs and DK Metcalf back from their BYE. Chubba Hubbard could miss his second consecutive game. The Cowboys offense boasts the #2 overall player Dak Prescott/50.2 PPG, the #1 RB Jonathan Taylor/45.6 PPG and #1 TE Jake Ferguson/30.2 PPG. Stefon Diggs has flashed back to his youth with back to back 100+ yard games. If anyone could give The Cowboys a run it’s Bronx Swag. If there’s any team that really improved themselves over the last few weeks it’s Bronx Swag. They stole Jaxson Dart from 3 All The Way for Bhyshel Tuten and a supplemental draft pick. Dart looks like a young Josh Allen, passing and rushing his way to 46 points in his 2nd consecutive start for Bronx Swag. CMC leads all RB’s with 130 touches, 39 receptions, 387 receiving yards and 669 total yards. McCaffrey is the #3 RB averaging 42.3 PPG. Tony Pollard had his best game of the season with 27.8 points while scoring his 3rd TD of the season. Calvin Ridley also had his best of the season (5-131/33 points). Jaylen Waddle had his best game of the season (6-110 and a TD/42 points). Garrett Wilson has scored a TD in 4 out of 5 games. Bronx Swag also picked up the Green Bay Packers defense from G’ss Mafia for a supplemental draft pick. Packers face Cincinnati this week. Bronx Swag is putting their best foot forward. This is very commendable work. I love what Swag is doing and they look good this week, but I’m not picking against The Cowboys. Yes they made a mistake by not starting Dallas Goedert (61 points) on Thursday night, but where were they supposed to put him? This is going to be another war but I’m taking The Cowboys.
G-Force (3-2) Vs XXXL (3-2)
This is a marquee matchup pitting the top team in the Metro West division XXXL, against the #2 team in the Southern Comfort division G-Force. XXXL owns the #3 offense and G-Force owns the #2 offense. This is going to be another war. Both of these teams enter this game on losses. The Chargers have lost star rookie RB Omarion Hampton. This will probably force G-Forces’s QB Justin Herbert to throw more. Herbert has a great match up against a horrible Miami Dolphins defense. Saquon Barkley had 9 touches in week 5. It was his lowest touch total in 4 years. We can attribute some of that to the fact that Philadelphia is playing on a short week on Thursday night, but we cannot ignore Barkley’s drop in production. Barkley has compiled 100 touches thru 5 games, compared to 105 touches from a year ago. The usage is 1 touch less per game than a year ago, but the production is 10 PPG less than a year ago. That’s not good. Kyren Williams had the best receiving game of his career in week 5, setting career highs with 8 caches, 66 yards and 2 TD’s. Williams also scored a seasonal high 50 points. Kyren Williams has a match up to salivate over against a destroyed Ravens defense that looks like they’ve packed it in. Quinshon Judkins rushing totals have increased every games he’s played in, rushing for his first 100+ yard game last week (110 rush yards). Steelers have allowed the 12th fewest rush yards this season but Judkins might be the best RB Pittsburgh has faced in 2025. Alvin Kamara had his fewest touches (12) and fewest points (17.5) of the year last week against a Giants defense that has allowed the 6th most rushing yards in 2025. Deebo Samuel is having a phenomenal season. In week 5, Deebo set seasonal highs with 8-96 and a TD/32.6 points. He’s playing on Monday night against Chicago who’ve allowed the 10th least receiving yards. Xavier Worthy has compiled 7 touches in each of his last 2 games. Brock Bowers is starting to become a problem for G-Force. Bowers has hit one bonus/double bonus, but has zero TD’s and is set to miss his second consecutive game. Zach Ertz has faced some very difficult defenses the last couple of weeks. He threw up a donut in week 5. Don needs to upgrade his kicker because Evan McPherson just hasn’t had enough scoring opportunities. McPherson ranks 30th/8.3 PPG. There are 12 kickers on the waiver wire scoring more points.
I’ve seen enough, he’s back. Patrick Mahomes completed a seasonal high (29) passes for 316 pass yards and he rushed for 57+ yards for the third time in 2025. Travis Etienne and De’Von Achane have compiled 60 PPG average. They’re both in the top 12 and legitimate RB1’s. XXXL is one of 4 teams with 2 top 12 RB’s in their offense (along with The Cowboys, Showtime and Phriends of the Devil). Amon-Ra St. Brown is a lock and load 35+ PPG WR. Davante Adams has a great match up against Baltimore. Quentin Johnston had his first rough game of the year in week 5 and now he’s dealing with a hamstring injury. Travis Kelce had a seasonal high 7 catches and scored his second TD of the year in week 5. Kelce has yet to hit a bonus this season. XXXL has a top 3 K Jason Myers/16.5, twice as much as G-Force’s kicker. I do not like what I’m seeing from Saquon Barkley. Brock Bowers has been missed. We don’t know how the Chargers will perform without an established running game. All of a sudden there’s a lot of uncertainty in G-Forces offense, and there’s nothing but stability on XXXL’s. I still think G-Force is a tough out, but I’m taking XXXL to rebound and win.
Showtime (3-2) vs G’ss Mafia (3-2)
G’ss Mafia is coming off their highest score in 4 years, when Hammer Time scored 341 points in week 5 of 2021. They have emerged as a legitimate threat in the Southern Comfort division. QB Jared Goff leads the NFL thru 5 weeks with 12 TD passes, he’s 10th with 1187 pass yards and 11th with 109 completions. Rico Dowdle/76 points had the best game of his career with 206 rush yards which is the seasonal high by any RB in 2025. Rico Dowdle appears to be a massive part of this offense but that is a fragile structure moving forward. Rico Dowdle looks like a world beater right now and has a tremendous match up in week 6 against his former team (The Dallas Cowboys), but when Chubba Hubbard returns, does Dowdle get relegated back to what he was for the first month of the season, which was unusable? On a per touch basis (1.65 points per touch) Breece Hall has been very good, and that’s without scoring a TD yet. JK Dobbins has scored a TD in four of 5 games. Dobbins is averaging 26.2 PPG. There are no outliers in Dobbins scores, he has scored between 22.8 and 30.5 points in every game of the season. G’ss Mafia will be without their best WR Justin Jefferson/26 PPG who is on his BYE. It leaves them a little exposed at WR. Marvin Harrison Jr had a seasonal high of 98 yards last week, but Kyler Murray is dealing with a foot injury. A hobbled Murray could affect Harrison’s productivity, but on the other hand a change could be good. Brian Thomas Jr. had a seasonal high 80 receiving yard but he has yet to hit a bonus or score a TD in 2025. Thomas has been a weak link in G’ss Mafia’s offense, averaging just 13.2 PPG. Jameson Williams is a playmaker but his usage has dwindled to almost nothing. Williams only has 14 touches in his first 5 games/2.8 touches per game. It’s just not enough to be relevant. In week 5, Sam LaPorta hit a bonus (92 yards) and scored a TD in the same game for the first time since December 2023. Kyle Pitts is coming out of the BYE and off of his best of the season but he does have a rough match up against the Bills on Monday Night.
Showtime is finally inserting NFL passing leader (1503 yards) Matthew Stafford into their starting line up. Stafford is second with 11 TD passes. Stafford has an exceptional match up this week against the hapless Baltimore Ravens defense. Showtime gets Bijan Robinson back from his BYE as his top 2 stars Bijan and James Cook face off on Monday night. Both Bijan and Cook are top 5 RB’s collectively averaging 80+ PPG. Zach Charbonnet is TD dependent. Showtime is surviving at WR with WanDale Robinson who has caught 5+ receptions in 4 of 6 games. Robinson had his second best game of the season on Thursday night with 28.4 points. Jakobi Meyers’s usage and production has slipped over the last few weeks. Showtime boasts the 2 best rookie TE’s in Tyler Warren/24.6 PPG and Mason Taylor 21.7 PPG over his last 2 games. Showtime has the current #1 kicker in Chase McLaughlin/17.2 and the #1 defense in Jacksonville Jaguars/16.6 PPG. That is huge. Showtime’s WR’s might be a weak spot, but few teams can compete with their TE/K/Defense, and that’s where they’ll make up their points. G’ss Mafia scored the league high 331 points last week. There is a crash of 100+ points coming this week. Believe it or not Matthew Stafford is the #3 overall player averaging 49.4 PPG. Showtime comes into this game with a top 3 QB, two top 4 RB’s, the #2 TE, #1 K and #1 Defense. I’m taking Showtime in a huge rebound win.
Dynamic Duo (0-5) Vs 3 All The Way (3-2)
I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this one. Dynamic Duo is 0-5. Duo’s offense is within 65 points of the striking distance of the #2 offense in the OSFL, but we have been scored upon at an average of 268.3 points per game. The next highest scored upon team is facing 230 PPG. We’re on pace to be the second highest scored upon team in OSFL history. Every team we’ve played has scored their highest score of the season (except XXXL who scored 276, which was their second highest score of the season) at the time we played them. We’ve faced 2 weekly high scores and the highest score of the season. It’s no excuse, but it’s been a brutal experience. Two weeks ago we traded Josh Allen and the 2 biggest stars we received in the trade Omarion Hampton and Ricky Pearsall are OUT with injuries and we still won the points differential in the trade both weeks, meaning even if we had Josh Allen we would still be 0-5. I am an eternal optimist but we’re big trouble. We have yet to score below 212, but we’re facing an average of 268 a week. It’s not good. I think this streak of facing higher and higher opponents scores will subside but over the last 4 weeks it’s gone from 222, to 257, to 276, to 331. It cannot continue but it doesn’t mean that high scores will stop and we’re due for a let down. 3 All The Way has a solid team. I look at Puka Nacua’s name facing the Ravens and I have nightmares. If Puka scores under 50 I will be shocked. Jalen Hurts set a seasonal high with 24 completions and 281 pass yards. He looked horrible but scored above his average with 45 points. Ashton Jeanty has a great match up against Tennessee who’ve allowed the 4th most rushing yards. Courtland Sutton has scored 25+ in 4 out of 5 games. Those are 3ATW’s best matchups. Dalton Kincaid faces the toughest defense against TE’s on Monday night at Atlanta. The Ravens defense should get blown up again. Dynamic Duo will be down BIG after the 4pm games are over. Realistically we have to be within 100 points by Sunday night to have a chance at a comeback. I cannot in good conscience continue to pick Dynamic Duo to win games, especially when 3ATW has won 3 of their last 4 and scored 232+ points in 3 consecutive games. Ja’Marr Chase might miss the game with an illness and the hits just keep on coming. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine staring down the barrel of 0-6, but this is our reality. We are not packing anything in, we will continue to roll with the punches and fight until the end but I’m taking 3 All The Way to win this game.
Allbrite Picks (2-3) Vs. Two Weeks of Bacon (1-4)
Both of these teams are desperate to get back on track and one of them will turn the tide in this contest. On Thursday night, Cam Skattebo had a breakout game, rushing for 98 yards and 3 TD’s. Skattebo has compiled 21 touches in each of his last 3 games. Skattebo came into the week scoring the 3rd most points of any rookie RB. After a 45 point game, he vaulted to #1, 19 points ahead of Ashton Jeanty. Antonio Gibson going down is good for both of TWB’s Patriots RB’s especially TreVeyon Henderson. Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled again but rebounded to score 2 TD’s last week. Stevenson keeps fumbling, Gibson is done. The Patriots use Henderson now or never. Last week David Montgomery had a BIG day because the Lions used him as the game ending grinder late in the third and into the fourth quarter. It will be interesting to see how the Lions use him against the Chiefs this week. Drake Maye had his first sub 40 point game in week 5 and it cost TWB dearly. It’s the type of game that solidifies that real football and Fantasy football often don’t coincide. The Patriots upset the Bills in Buffalo and Maye had his worst statistical game of the season. TWB loses their best WR Nico Collins to his BYE, leaving the WR position susceptible. Neither Josh Downs/11.5 PPG nor Travis Hunter/10 PPG are currently ranked in the top 50 WR’s. Darnell Mooney has slid back into the abyss. Troy Franklin is actually the highest (39th) ranked available WR averaging 15 PPG. TWB traded away RB - Michael Carter to The Wolfpack for WR - Jauan Jennings who is questionable and playing at 4PM. Darren Waller has been back for 2 games and he’s scored 3 TD’s compiling 57.5 points. The only TE to score more points over the last 2 games is #1 TE Jake Ferguson who has scored 59 points.
Allbrite Picks got Jayden Daniels back last week and he’s got a prime time matchup this week against the Chicago Bears on MNF. Allbrite drafted Daniels as an elite QB, but he has yet to produce like one. He’s missed 2 games and his best game produced 43 points. They need more out of Daniels going forward. After week 1 Derrick Henry looked like he was going to play forever. Entering week 6, there are whispers that Henry is cooked. In week 1, Henry rushed for 169 yards. In weeks 2 thru 5, Henry has combined for 149 yards. On a positive note, Henry hasn’t fumbled in his last 2 games. Allbrite Picks does lose Jordan Mason/24 PPG to his BYE, forcing rookie RJ Harvey/14 PPG into the starting line up. Harvey has had 7 touches or less in 4 of his 5 games. All 4 of Allbrite’s best WR’s are active and available. Rookie Emeka Egbuka has emerged as one of the best WR’s to come along in a while. Egbuka set career highs with 7-163 and scored his 5th TD in week 5. He is a favorite and trusted target of Baker Mayfield. Egbuka has logged back to back 100+ yard games and currently ranks at the #2 WR, averaging 35+ PPG. George Pickens has scored 5 TD’s over 4 consecutive games. Pickens faces the surpassingly stingy pass defense of Carolina. Chris Olave/19.5 PPG hasn’t put eye popping numbers up but has been steady all year and is currently tied for 4th with 33 receptions. Drake London/23 PPG is coming out of his early season BYE and looks to continue his solid week 4 performance (8-110 and a TD). Tucker Kraft/23.6 PPG returns from his BYE after a solid first month of the season. Most of Allbrite Picks offensive output will come from their WR’s, but they need solid performances out of Daniels and Henry going forward. TWB must get BIG games out of Maye and their remaining RB’s because WR could be barren. Darren Waller has been a pleasant surprise but can it continue. These are the type of games Allbrite Picks must win but always seem to come up short in. TWB got a nice start with a massive game from Skattebo but is it enough. I think there are paths to victory for both teams but I look for Allbrite Picks to rebound after dropping their last 2 games.
