Tough draft - lots of RBs taken in early rounds
WELCOME BACK for the 2025 season !!
The draft has finished and everyone starts over at 0-0. But who is likely to make the playoffs ??
We must consult the Draft Guru for his evaluations. The Guru must take note that the better-drafted teams all took different approaches to build the best possible team. So without further ado, these are the Guru's rankings, and the Guru will expain why.
GURU'S MOST LIKELY TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Goodyear Silents (70%) : The defending DFFL3 champion has done very well drafting from the #3 position. He took the RB-RB approach drafting Derrick Henry and James Cook, and filled out very nicely with QB Burrow and TE Kittle. That is a very strong core of Top-5 players. He filled the WRs spots with Cooper Kupp, Jordan Addison, Jakobi Meyers, and Jauan Jennings. He took WR Godwin late hoping he'll come back from injury sooner than later. A good platoon of mid-round WRs for flexibility. It may end up being the best drafted team.
2. Call Of Hutch (70%) - Hutch, the 2024 Silent Bowl runner-up, had the lucky draw of the #1 pick. He went with the QB-RB-WR-TE approach (one of each) to build his core. He took RB Gibbs with the first pick (seems appropriate for his team!) and followed with QB Daniels, WR A.J. Brown, and TE LaPorta. After that, he rounded up his roster with RBs James Conner/Ken Walker III and WRs Zay Flowers, George Pickens, and Travis Hunter. A superb balance of a roster ! Hutch is likely to gain another shot at the Silent Bowl, possibly another re-match with Goodyear.
3. Mayhem (65%) - Mayhem wants to do better after missing last year's playoffs. He got the #4 position, and did a good job. He also took the RB-RB approach, drafting Bijan Robinson and Jonathan Taylor, followed by WRs Puka Nacua and Terry McLaurin and then TE Travis Kelce and QB Brock Purdy. Excellent group of core players, but with some risk. He has to hope Taylor doesn't get hurt again and Kelce doesn't get too distracted with his wedding plans. He also has to deal with WR Rice being suspended for 6 games, but at least he did pick up WRs Diggs and Keenan Allen. Mayhem may just make it this time.
4. Blue Meanies (60%) - Blue Meanies is out with a new Master Plan! The #8 pick is his favorite draft position, so he took advantage. He took the balanced approach opening with RB-WR, drafting RB Christain McCaffrey and WR Malik Nabors. Then he picked up RB Omarion Hampton (rookie), WR Mike Evans, and TE Trey McBride. By waiting to draft a QB later, he ended up with Justin Fields backed up by Justin Herbert. He filled his bench with RBs Aaron Jones and Jaylen Warren, plus WRs Jameson Williams, Khalir Shakir, and Josh Downs. A balanced starter/bench combo, indeed. If CMC stays healthy and Hampton takes off, Blue Meanies will get real mean to a lot of opponents !!
5. Enforcers (55%) - Enforcers always get his piece of the action! He got the #2 pick. He took the QB-RB-WR-TE approach with QB Hurts, RB Barley, WR Collins, and TE Hockenson. He followed up with RBs Henderson/Etienne and WRs M.Harrison Jr/DK Metcalf. Enforcers is still a dangerous team. Don't forget, he won last year's Toilet Bowl, and he may just carry his momentum right over!
6. (50%) For the last wild-card berth, the competition is much much tighter. Hawks (QB Prescott, RBs Achane/Kamara, WRs Chase/London), Facemask (QB Mahomes, RBs Brown/Hubbard, WRs Jefferson/T.Hill, TE Loveland), and Bexans (QB L.Jackson, RBs Jacobs/Hall, WRs Wilson/Odunze, TE Andrews) are all strong contenders, and they will make things difficult for the other teams too.
....and we still have the Toilet Bowl ! So either way, you'll still be playing......
Waiver wire opens on Tuesday morning, and close at Wednesday midnight. Then from Thursday morning to Sunday 1pm, the free agent period will run, as long as you didn't take all 3 picks from waivers.
Lineup deadline is Sunday 1pm.
GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON ! I still wonder how the Cowgirls are gonna do this year, especially after trading away Parsons ! When will Jerry Jones go away ? I won't blame the Dallas fans if they'd just flat-out mutiny !!! They can always make a dummy of him and tar-and-feather it right in public !
