CFL WEEK 2 RECAP

Hello, CFL! Injuries are already kicking in, and some managers are getting a little…unsettled.

Here’s what happened in Week2:

  • #1 Something Wicked (2-0, N1) beat #4 Pour Decisions (1-1, N2) by a hair on a 2-minute drill on Monday Night Football, with both teams missing their 1st round draft picks, and the Wicked take the early lead in the Norwest.
  • #2 Dukeforever (2-0, L1) survived the Tua concussion and held off #11 Da Ghetto Boyz (0-2, L5) on MNF to hold onto the #2 spot – for now, at least.
  • #3 Blank Slate* (2-0, L2) didn’t do anything too remarkable, other than stepping back into the league and winning two, after 26 away from managing a CFL team, but posted a big 160 to beat #9 New OG (1-1, L4) and stay one of 3 unbeaten teams.
  • #5 Doctor Doom (1-1, N3) left no doubts this week, scoring 177 to bury an outmanned #10 Tar Heel Haters (0-2, N6) team.
  • Defending champ #7 Show me the TDs (1-1, L3) has learned that winning ugly can be more effective than losing pretty, and beat newcomer #12 Tighty Whities (0-2, L6), who loses their 3rd round draft pick to a broken leg.
  • #8 Breeceful Takeover (1-1, N5) bounced back from a Week 1 loss to clip #6 Patton’s Third (1-1, N4).

Remember, for better or worse, Week 3 comes with one of our two doubleheaders, so it’s an opportunity to erase a bad start or to cement a good one. Good luck in Week 3!

*You know you can still change that name, right?  😀

CFL WEEK 1 RECAP

Hello, CFL, new and old! We have officially resumed the annual love/hate relationship with fantasy football. Some teams are ready to play, and some are still in draft mode.

Week 1 is over, and here are the highlights:

  • #1 Pour Decisions (1-0, N1) kicks off with another big Week 1, carving up the #7 Tar Heel Haters (0-1, N4) with 195 points to get off to a good start. The Haters will try to reset against Doctor Doom in Week 2.
  • #2 Dukeforever (1-0, L1) got 24+ from 5 different starters, and rolled to a win over #8 Show me the TDs (0-1, L4) to start off in playoff bye position.
  • #3 Something Wicked (1-0, N2) hit the gas when the green flag got waved and jumped out to a big lead over #10 Breeceful Takeover (0-1, N6), never giving it up. Something Wicked and Pour Decisions will fight an early divisional showdown in Week 2 to see who takes control in the Norwest.
  • #4 Patton’s Third (1-0, N3) got a big game from QB Josh Allen, and it was enough to outlast a #9 Doctor Doom (0-1, N5) team that had no great starters and no bad ones.
  • It’s been 27 years since Pontarelli managed a team in the CFL, and #5 Blank Slate (1-0, L2) didn’t exactly look polished, but a win is a win, and the BS was enough to knock off #11 Da Ghetto Boyz (0-1, L5).
  • And in the least notable game of the week, rivals #6 New OG (1-0, L3) and #12 Tighty Whities combined for just 18 points less than Pour Decisions put up alone, but any game you walk away from with more than your opponent is a win, and New OG, led by the Denver D, starts 1-0, while the newcomer starts, unfortunately, in dead last.

One week down, and 13 to go before the regular season is over. There’s still time to regroup before the Week 3 doubleheader, so hit the waiver wire if you need to, and take comfort in the knowledge that no team is more than a game out of first. Good luck in Week 2!

Commissioner Mon Jul 29 10:12pm ET

I have updated the divisions and the draft page, and I will be updating the schedule this week. I will let everyone know when that is done. Please note that the NFL has put Byepocalypse in both Weeks 12 and 14 this year, which will impact the schedule and may impact your draft choices.

Commissioner Mon Jul 29 10:06pm ET

Mssrs. Ruck and Newell have traded the 3rd and 5th draft positions, and this is now reflected in the updated draft order.
