Robinson got to start from day one for the Commanders last year and did pretty well in that role. He had 1,101 total yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games. Robinson was 20th overall in fantasy running back scoring. Robinson was much better in the passing game, having 36 receptions after getting just nine his rookie season. His improvement in that area showed he can be a three-down back. Robinson should get first shot at starting for the Commanders once again this year but the addition of Austin Ekeler is going to cut into his playing time. Robinson is a big back that does his best work between the tackles. He excels in short yardage and is tough to bring down with the ball in his hands. He isn't the most elusive back and doesn't always read the holes well. He is a much improved pass catcher since entering the league.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Robinson is not the most exciting fantasy option but has value as a low-end No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy back. He will get his yards and has some touchdown potential in what should be an improved offense. Ekeler limits his value, though, cutting into his playing time on passing downs. Robinson could get around 1,100 total yards with eight or so touchdowns.
Washington Commanders' running back Brian Robinson Jr. showed improvement as a pass catcher in year two of his career despite the presence of Antonio Gibson. Despite playing in three more games than he did as a rookie, Robinson actually saw less rushing attempts as his passing game usage spiked for a career-high 36 catches for 368 yards and four touchdowns. That could reverse course in Robinson's third season, as the Commanders added a capable veteran pass-catching back in Austin Ekeler along with a rushing quarterback in Jayden Daniels. That being said, Ekeler's efficiency saw a significant hit in 2023. His addition to the team will once again make Robinson a strong candidate to have a solid return on investment much like in 2023 when Gibson's presence allowed Robinson to be priced much lower than his low-end RB2 finish. Expect the Alabama product to again carry most of the early downs, and even see some passing down usage despite the presence of Ekeler.

According to 33rd Team's Marcus Mosher, Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. is still viewed by some as the No. 1 option on the depth chart. Without question, Austin Ekeler's presence has many believing Robinson's role will significantly reduce. However, Mosher indicated this might not be the case, especially with a change in the coaching staff, including new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who helped James Conner remain a viable fantasy threat during his time as the head coach in Arizona. Robinson has appeared in 27 games for the Commanders over the last two seasons. Although the 25-year-old wasn't always consistent, he still amassed 1,530 yards and seven touchdowns off 383 carries. He also scored five times on the receiving end. Surely, Ekeler will get his touches. Yet, fantasy managers shouldn't dismiss Robinson, with his ceiling rising even more if Ekeler goes down with an injury at some point in the year.
