2019 RTSports Outlook

Wentz had another injury-plagued season, missing five games. He did not play the first two or the last three games of the season. He played pretty well when on the field, though, having multiple touchdowns eight of 11 games. If he plays a full season, he is eighth overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. The issue is Wentz has missed time each of the past two seasons and played a full season just once in three years. He needs to stay healthy to reach his potential as an elite quarterback. Wentz is a big kid with a plus arm but also has the athletic ability to make plays with his legs. He limits turnovers and completes a high percentage of his passes. He is a good fit for the Eagles offense and knows his limitations as a player.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Wentz is a top-10 fantasy quarterback but make sure you get a competent backup if you draft him. He can carry a fantasy teams but also has question marks because of his health. But he could end up being a steal if he plays a full season in this offense. He can throw for 4,000 yards and 35 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He has huge upside for this coming year.

RotoBaller's Outlook

2018 was somewhat a lost season for Carson Wentz. However, in just 11 games he amassed 3,072 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Even with the injury concerns surrounding him, the Eagles felt good enough to let Nick Foles go to the Jaguars and throw their full support behind Wentz for 2019. If the Eagles, a well-run organization, is willing to be confident in him, so should we.Before his torn ACL against the Rams in 2017 Wentz was on pace to be the NFL MVP and would have finished as the number one fantasy quarterback for the season. Finishing with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions he still finished as the QB4 and made the Pro Bowl, as he got Philadelphia into position at 11-2 to get home field advantage.Alshon Jeffrey and Zach Ertz, his two main targets are still there and along with them are additional players in Jordan Howard, Dallas Goedert and rookie Miles Sanders which should allow him to thrive yet again. Reports out of Philadelphia are that Wentz is a full go in OTAs with no limitations, and a full offseason of work with his team will make for a wonderful season in the city of brotherly love.Being taken in drafts as the ninth quarterback behind Drew Brees, and just ahead of Jared Goff means his eighth-round price is not reflective of his ability to finish as the QB1 this season. Although this may not be the likeliest of results, he must be in consideration as the offense in Philadelphia will run through him. Additionally, with DeSean Jackson back in town to fill the deep threat role, Wentz will have a player to catch those deep balls. If Wentz holds up and the offense is what it should be, then the sky is the limit for Wentz in 2019. Getting him in the eighth round could just end up being the steal of your draft as his trajectory soars skyward.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz finished 16-of-26 for 191 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Week 7 versus the Dallas Cowboys. He also added four carries for 12 yards but fumbled twice.

Fantasy Spin: Wentz fumbled on an opening drive sack and bobbled a snap that led to a fumble in the second half. He was under pressure for most of the night and was not particularly sharp when he did have some time to throw, although his 28-yard TD pass to Dallas Goedert was a thing of beauty. However, the extended absence of DeSean Jackson continues to hurt this offense because the Eagles simply have no one else to stretch the field. Wentz will continue to be a low-end QB1 in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 11:50pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz couldn't get much going in what ended up being a blowout loss to the Cowboys in Week 7. Wentz completed 16 of his 26 passes, gaining 191 yards and throwing one touchdown and one interception. He also fumbled twice, losing both. It was an all around struggle for the Philly offense against a strong Dallas defense, but Wentz was certainly at least somewhat to blame. He added 12 yards on the ground on three scrambles. He and the entire Eagles offense will hope for better results in Week 8 despite another tough matchup against the Bills.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 11:30am ET

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said that left tackle Jason Peters (knee) is "week-to-week." Peters, 37, injured his knee in the Week 6 loss to the Vikings. Rookie first-rounder Andre Dillard will likely slide into the starting lineup and protect quarterback Carson Wentz's blind side, beginning on Sunday night in Week 7 against the Cowboys in a big divisional tilt. The move to Dillard might not necessarily be a downgrade, but it's something to watch moving forward.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 11:30am ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will have a tough matchup in a Week 7 battle for first place in Dallas. The Eagles hit the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys, a team that has done well in limiting opposing passing games. Wentz will still be ranked as a QB1, but he's as close to the QB1/2 border as he's been so far this season for this one. He may still be without DeSean Jackson (abdomen), and the Eagles passing game has been very one-dimensional without him. Wentz is still a startable option, but fantasy owners should temper expectations this week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 8:30pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was solid despite an Eagles loss in Week 6. He threw for 306 yards, completing 26 of his 40 pass attempts. Wentz ended up with two touchdowns and threw an interception. It was the first 300 yard game since Week 1 for the Eagles quarterback, who matched up with Miles Sanders and Alshon Jeffery for his two scores. Wentz also added 23 yards on the ground, on two rushing attempts. He's a back-end QB1 and should a solid option next week against the Cowboys.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 5:33pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz went 26-for-40 for 306 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. He also rushed for 23 yards on two carries.

Fantasy Spin: Wentz posted his first 300-yard game of the season against the Vikings and has thrown 12 touchdowns in six games this season. He will be facing a solid Dallas Cowboys defense next week but can still be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 13 4:30pm ET

Eagles' QB Carson Wentz passed for 306 yards on 26-of-40 with two touchdowns in Sunday's loss in Minnesota.

Oct 9 11:20am ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will face off against a tough Minnesota Vikings Defense in Week 6. Wentz underwhelmed in Week 5 mostly because the running game was working so well that he wasn't needed. Still, his fantasy owners ended up with just one touchdown and 189 yards on just 17 completed passes. Wentz will likely need to throw more in Week 6, so he does carry a decent ceiling, but the tough Vikings defense makes him a lower-tier QB1 this week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 6 8:33pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz completed 17-of-29 passes for 189 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 5 against the New York Jets while running for five yards.

Fantasy Spin: Wentz didn't do much for his fantasy owners, as the Eagles actually posted 14 of their 31 points thanks to the defense. You had to figure it was going to be a blowout, with not a lot of passing anyway. He faces a difficult matchup on the road in Week 6 in Minnesota.

From TheHuddle

Oct 6 5:20pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz didn't have to do much in Week 5. With the defense absolutely dominating the New York Jets "offense" in this one, Wentz wasn't asked to do a lot. He ended up completing 17 of his 29 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown. His score was on an 11-yard pass to his tight end, Zach Ertz. Wentz could likely have had a bigger game if he'd needed to, but the Eagles were nursing a lead almost from the kickoff. The Eagles travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings next week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 2 12:50pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is a strong fantasy option in Week 5. The Eagles will take on the New York Jets at home and should have little trouble moving the ball against them. Wentz is coming off a three-touchdown performance against a strong Green Bay Packers Defense, and could have a similar or even better game this week. He's an easy QB1 and will be ranked somewhere in the QB6-8 range overall.

From RotoBaller

Sep 27 12:23am ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz completed 16 of 27 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns on Thursday, Sept. 26, against the Green Bay Packers. He added 13 yards on six carries.

Fantasy Spin: With the running game carrying the day, Wentz was content to throw high-percentage passes, none of which covered more than 20 yards. His three TDs salvaged his fantasy value, though, and with the extra rest the team may be ready to welcome back DeSean Jackson in Week 5.

From TheHuddle

Sep 27 12:00am ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz tossed three touchdowns on Thursday night. Otherwise, he wasn't great. He completed 16 of his 27 pass attempts for just 160 yards. Wentz's first touchdown pass was a six-yard strike to Alshon Jeffery. His second was a three-yard toss to Dallas Goedert, and his final score came on a 20-yard catch and run by Jordan Howard. Wentz added 13 yards on the ground on six carries. His fantasy performance was saved by the three touchdowns, but Wentz didn't look great for most of the night. Still, he should be getting wide receiver DeSean Jackson (abdomen) back soon, and Alshon Jeffery (calf) should be healthier for the next Eagles game. Wentz remains a QB1.

From RotoBaller

Sep 25 10:50am ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is just an okay option as a fantasy starter in Week 4. Wentz was blamed for several things that were not realistically his fault in Week 3, but those same things (like blatant drops and careless fumbles from his skill players) could resurface in Week 4 against the Packers. Playing on a short week, Wentz will get wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (calf) back, but will still be without DeSean Jackson (abdomen). With the Thursday Night Football stigma thrown on top of everything else, Wentz is on the QB1/2 turn this week despite usually being solidly among the QB1 ranks.

From RotoBaller

Sep 22 10:13pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz completed 19 of his 36 pass attempts for 259 yards and two touchdowns and rushed four times for 33 yards in a 27-24 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Fantasy Spin: Wentz has completed under 60 percent of his passes in back-to-back weeks, but he has delivered multiple touchdowns in every game this year. With the Eagles dealing with a lot of injuries, he's a low-end QB1 candidate.

From TheHuddle

Sep 22 7:00pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was solid in Sunday's Week 3 loss, tossing two touchdowns. He completed 19 of his 36 passes for 259 yards. He added 33 yards on four carries as well. Wentz's touchdowns came on a 20-yard pass and a two-yard pass, both to wide receiver Nelson Agholor. Even without his top two wide receivers, Alshon Jeffery (calf) and DeSean Jackson (groin) in the game, Wentz was still able to move the offense for most of the game.

From RotoBaller

Sep 18 11:40am ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz likely won't be quite as strong a fantasy option as usual against the Detroit Lions in Week 3. Wentz watched both of his top wide receivers, DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery, leave the game in Week 2 with injuries. Both are officially questionable for Week 3, but most beat writers are expecting the two wide receivers to miss at least one game. Wentz will still have tight end Zach Ertz to throw to, but his top wide receiver will be drop-machine Nelson Agholor. Wentz is still a QB1 for Week 3, but he's on the lower 10-12 range instead of his usual 4-6.

From RotoBaller

Sep 16 3:03am ET

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz completed 25 of 43 passes for 231 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 15. Wentz also ran for a touchdown.

Fantasy Spin: Wentz was dealing with a skeleton crew on offense after injuries knocked several of his top weapons out of action. Wentz even came off the field for a bit and was replaced by Josh McCown. Given all that, and the fact that Nelson Agholor dropped a possible long touchdown, Wentz played a pretty respectable game. He remains a QB1, though do keep an eye on those injuries.

From TheHuddle

Sep 16 12:10am ET

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz found a way to make two touchdowns happen on Sunday night despite losing his two top receivers to injuries. With DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery both leaving due to injuries in the first half, Wentz was left with a preseason-like supporting cast for most of the game. Still, he threw for 231 yards, completing 25 of his 43 passes. His touchdown through the air was on a four-yard pass to Nelson Agholor. His other touchdown was on a one-yard QB sneak. Wentz missed some time due to an injury as well, but he was able to return shortly afterwards. Despite coming up short in the end, Wentz showed an immense amount of talent in this game, but his fantasy outlook would still take a hit if his two top wide receivers are not able to return next week.

From RotoBaller

Sep 15 10:03pm ET

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (concussion) went to the medical tent to be evaluated for concussion. He passed the test and re-entered the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons late in the second quarter.

Fantasy Spin: It's been a tough first half for Wentz and the Eagles, as he took a shot to the ribs, and apparently banged his head. He is also without Alshon Jeffery, Desean Jackson has been in and out, and Nelson Agholor and Dallas Goedert have also departed. Ouch.
