Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has a big believer in head coach Brian Flores. 'He brings leadership, he brings intelligence, he brings toughness,' Flores recently told SiriusXM NFL Radio. 'We've had a couple really good talks. Obviously, I coached against him (when Flores was a defensive assistant with the New England Patriots) and I just think he's a really good player. I'm looking forward to watching him play. I think his best days are ahead.'
Fantasy Spin: The 36-year-old Fitzpatrick did average an impressive 26.7 fantasy points per game in eight appearances last season with the Bucs, but now he moves on a new and unknown offense and a downgraded set a weapons in Miami. And even if he winds up starting the majority of Miami's games this coming season, expect a top-end QB2 season from Fitzpatrick at the very best.
The Miami Dolphins agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal with free-agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 36-year-old journeyman will be joining his eighth NFL team and his third in the AFC East. Barring a draft-day selection, Fitzpatrick is in line to start over Jake Rudock and Luke Falk, who have a combined five passing attempts in four seasons. Fitzpatrick spent the last two years with the Buccaneers and started 10 games. He threw for over 400 yards per game and 11 touchdowns in the first three games of 2018 with Jameis Winston suspended. Fitzpatrick is capable of putting up big games, but the consistency won't be there and his weapons in Miami are less appealing than they were in Tampa.
Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buccaneers) on Sunday, March 17, signed with the Miami Dolphins. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has landed with his eighth team in 15 years, and becomes the immediate favorite to open the 2019 season as the starter for the Dolphins, who likely also will draft a quarterback next month. Despite the gaudy stats he posted during several games in his FitzMagic run with the Bucs last season, he's nothing more than a QB2 at the very best.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is unlikely to return to the team in 2019 because of his success last season, according to Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds, who adds new head coach Bruce Arians doesn't want Jameis Winston 'looking over his shoulder. Reynolds also reports Arians hopes to avoid 'any potential division in the locker room' as the franchise attempts to find out if Winston is worthy of a long-term contract extension.
The Green Bay Packers may look to sign a veteran in free agency to play behind QB Aaron Rodgers, in the opinion of Packers Wire's Zach Kruse, who lists QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buccaneers), Matt Schaub (Falcons), Robert Griffin III (Redskins), Sean Mannion (Rams) and Austin Davis (Titans) as possible fits; everyone on the list except Fitzpatrick previously played for head coach Matt LaFleur earlier in their careers.
The Carolina Panthers could seek a veteran backup to QB Cam Newton in free agency, in the opinion of ESPN's David Newton, who lists soon-to-be free-agent QBs Brock Osweiler (Dolphins), Trevor Siemian (Vikings), Tyrod Taylor (Browns), Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buccaneers), Sean Mannion (Rams) and Mark Sanchez (Redskins) as options they could consider.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have declared DL Carl Nassib, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, CB David Rivers, TE Tanner Hudson, WR DeSean Jackson, CB Joshua Shaw and DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches inactive for Week 17.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan W. Griffin is serving as the team's No. 2 quarterback for Week 16's game against the Dallas Cowboys. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the inactive third quarterback.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston replaced QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the Week 11 game against the New York Giants and completed 12 of his 16 passes for 199 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 38-35 loss.
Fantasy Spin: Winston and Fitzpatrick keep swapping the starting job, and both have looked better when coming on in relief of the other. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Winston draw the next start, and since the Buccaneers are usually playing from behind, he has some streaming upside.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched in the third quarter of the Week 11 game Sunday, Nov. 18, after throwing his third interception of the contest. He was replaced by Jameis Winston.
Fantasy Spin: FitzMagic has been negated by turnovers and poor red-zone offense of late, and the Bucs pulled the plug Sunday after seeing three straight possessions end in Fitzpatrick INTs, including a pick-six. Fitzpatrick has thrown seven picks and lost a fumble in the last three games since being reinstated as the team's starter, but Winston, of course, has also been benched with his own turnover issues, and it's simply going to be too hard to trust Bucs QBs going forward.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starting quarterback in Week 11, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.
Fantasy Spin: As if anyone needed another sign, the decision to stick with Fitzpatrick seems to be a clear indication of the organization's plans to move on from Jameis Winston after the season. Fitzpatrick threw for 400-plus yards for the fourth time this season in Week 10, but three turnovers versus zero touchdowns ultimately ruined his fantasy day. Owners should be considered a streaming option at best moving forward.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 29 of his 41 passes for 406 yards and two interceptions and rushed eight times for 35 yards in a 16-3 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 10. He also lost a fumble
Fantasy Spin: The stat line doesn't look too bad except that the offense just couldn't put the ball in the end zone. If Fitzpatrick remains the starter, he's already shown that he can be a useful streaming option.
The Washington Redskins defense clearly wanted to make amends for the failures that resulted in last week's 38-14 shellacking at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. They accomplished their mission on Sunday by preventing the Buccaneers to score a single touchdown. Washington also forced four turnovers and sacked Ryan Fitzpatrick twice. This is the type of outing we've come to expect from the Redskins' defensive group, with the understanding that there will be a hiccup or two along the way. The team's next task is to shut down the Texans, who are riding a six-game winning streak.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers' QB Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for a phenomenal 404 yards on 29-of-41 but no touchdowns in Sunday's game against the Redskins. He did throw two interceptions in the loss.
Buccaneers' QB Ryan Fitzpatrick scored 28.45 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 9 loss in Carolina. Fitzpatrick threw for 243 yards on 24-of-40 with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick set himself up nicely before halftime to lead fantasy teams everywhere to commanding leads. The journeyman QB found himself down by 28 points in the first half and knew it was his time to shine. Fitzmagic was all the way up as he went on to toss four touchdowns in the game while accumulating 243 yards through the air and 23 on the ground. His two interceptions are mere blips on the radar. Fitz is an every-week starter going forward if you own him because that Tampa defense is awful. He will continue to play from behind and sling it.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 24-of-40 passes for 243 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers. He also ran for 23 yards.
Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick was unable to pull off 'Fitz-magic' in the final quarter, as the team lost by 14 points. However, he still had a pretty strong day for his fantasy owners. He remains a decent low-end QB1 heading into Week 10 against the Washington Redskins in leagues of 12 or more teams for his high rate of TD throws.
The Carolina Panthers DST is a good option for fantasy owners this week, with a good matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers will be hoping that the quarterback duo of starter Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston continue to throw interceptions, both having struggled with that element of their game this season. Combining that with the Buccaneers weak offensive line the Panthers will be bringing pressure on the quarterback, with plenty of opportunities to get sacks. If that Panthers are available in your league- pick them up and start them this week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has been named the starting quarterback Monday, Oct. 29.
Fantasy Spin: Fitz Magic is back! You could really see a difference in the flow on offense when he entered the game over the weekend. He faces a midrange matchup in the Carolina Panthers this week. If you're covering a bye, he could be worth grabbing.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick came off the bench for the mistake-prone QB Jameis Winston, completing 11-of-15 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick rallied the Bucs in the fourth quarter, erasing an 18-point deficit only to lose on a last-second field goal. But it was more Fitz-magic, and a quarterback change could be coming. When he has been in there, he has been mostly effective except for one disastrous outing. The Bucs travel to meet the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.
