2019 RTSports Outlook

Keenum had an erratic first season as the starter for the Broncos. He had too many turnovers, getting picked off 15 times on the season. He also lost three fumbles, giving him 18 total turnovers. He did have 20 total touchdowns and finished 110 yards shy of a 4,000-yard season. He showed well at times, having six multiple touchdown games and three 300-yard games. His up and down play puts his future a little in doubt going forward. He was traded to the Redskins this offseason and will compete for their starting job this year with rookie Dwayne Haskins and Colt McCoy. Keenum has two straight seasons with 3,500-plus passing yards and 20-plus touchdowns. Keenum moves around the pocket pretty well and has a good arm. He had some accuracy issues earlier in his career, but really made strides in that area in recent seasons. He plays very well outside of the pocket and throws an improving deep ball. He forces some throws, though, and needs to do a better job of taking care of the ball.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Keenum was 19th in fantasy quarterback scoring last year. A new more pass-friendly offense is a positive for Keenum but he is not guaranteed to start. And even if he is the starter, he has been mediocre in a starting role to date. He might be worth a spot start or two but that is about it.

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum didn't have his best statistical performance on Sunday, completing just over 50% of his 25 pass attempts for 166 yards. What mattered more than any of that was the two touchdowns he threw to help the Redskins earn their first win of the 2019 season over the Dolphins. Keenum found his favorite target Terry McLaurin for scores of 25 and 33 yards, and to his credit committed zero turnovers. Washington's next opponent is a 49ers Defense that has routinely made capable offenses look bad this season, so Keenum's decent bounce-back game isn't enough to consider him a fantasy starter in Week 7.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 4:23pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum completed 13-of-25 passes for 166 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum was back after a foot injury and the Redskins were able to narrowly escape with their first win under interim coach Bill Callahan. Still, Keenum isn't a recommended fantasy option heading into Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 3:43pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum has thrown seven touchdowns and four interceptions in four games this season and has regained the starting job for the time being. He should have a favorable matchup but is still only a starting option in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 3:23pm ET

Washington Redskins LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring), OG Wes Martin (chest), TE Jordan Reed (concussion) and S Deshazor Everett (ankle) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 6 versus the Miami Dolphins. TE Vernon Davis (concussion) was limited in practice all week and has also been ruled out. OT Donald Penn (hamstring) was upgraded to a full practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is listed as questionable. OT Morgan Moses (shoulder), OG Brandon Scherff (ankle) were limited. C Ross Pierschbacher (illness), TE Jerome Cunningham (concussion), CB Quinton Dunbar (shoulder), DT Matt Ioannidis (foot), QB Case Keenum (foot), CB Josh Norman (hand), C Chase Roullier (knee) and DB Simeon Thomas (wrist) fully participated in practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 2:10pm ET

Washington Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan named quarterback Case Keenum the starter for Week 6 against the Dolphins, with rookie Dwayne Haskins set to back him up. Colt McCoy will likely be inactive after starting in Week 5. Keenum racked up some big games earlier this year, but he's a turnover machine and will still be a shaky QB2, albeit with some upside against the lowly Dolphins on Sunday. Keenum being under center is good news for rookie wideout Terry McLaurin, although he's likely to be shadowed by cornerback Xavien Howard. Expect Washington to try to establish the ground game with Adrian Peterson early and often.

From RotoBaller

Oct 11 2:03pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) will start in Week 6, interim coach Bill Callahan said Friday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum and winless Washington haven't been any great shakes of late, but he's a low-end QB2 start Sunday against the floundering Miami Dolphins.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 7:13pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum is expected to regain the starting job this week and should have a favorable matchup but may only be a fantasy option in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 5:20pm ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum (foot) has practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday of this week. After being benched in Week 4 and then being replaced by Colt McCoy last week, the Redskins seem to be leaning towards going back to Keenum for a winnable Week 6 matchup with the Dolphins. You can't trust many Washington players in fantasy, but Keenum took a liking to rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the first three games of the season. McLaurin has more WR3 upside with Keenum under center. If Keenum does get the nod this week, he'll be a more attractive QB2 going against Miami.

Washington Redskins LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring), OG Wes Martin (chest) and TE Jordan Reed (concussion) remained out of practice Thursday, Oct. 10. OT Donald Penn (hamstring), TE Vernon Davis (concussion), OT Morgan Moses (shoulder), OG Brandon Scherff (ankle) and S Deshazor Everett (ankle) were limited. C Ross Pierschbacher (illness), TE Jerome Cunningham (concussion), CB Quinton Dunbar (shoulder), DT Matt Ioannidis (foot), QB Case Keenum (foot), CB Josh Norman (hand), C Chase Roullier (knee) and DB Simeon Thomas (wrist) were listed as full participants,

From TheHuddle

Oct 9 4:43pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) got in a full practice Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum will start Sunday against the Miami Dolphins as long as he's able to get back on the field. He'll return to being a high-end QB2/streaming option, especially in the plush Week 6 matchup.

From TheHuddle

Oct 9 1:53pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) will start this week if his foot injury allows him to play, according to sources.

Fantasy Spin: He has a great matchup against the Miami Dolphins this week. If you're looking for a streamer option, you could do worse than Keenum this week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 9 1:40pm ET

The Washington Redskins are expected to start quarterback Case Keenum in Week 6 against the Dolphins, assuming he's healthy, according to sources. Colt McCoy started in Week 5 and was predictably bad against the Patriots. Keenum wasn't terrible to begin the year other than turning the ball over left and right. It's hard to trust most of Washington's skill players no matter who is under center, but Keenum probably gives rookie receiver Terry McLaurin the highest fantasy ceiling. So at least there's that. In a matchup against the lowly Dolphins, Keenum will have QB2 appeal if he indeed starts the game.

From RotoBaller

Oct 7 10:33pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) might start in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins, while QB Colt McCoy is also a candidate, but interim head coach Bill Callahan declined to name a starter. Callahan said they are watching the medical report on Keenum.

Fantasy Spin: Neither Keenum nor McCoy are terribly attractive from a fantasy perspective, although facing the Miami Dolphins could potentially make whomever starts a decent streaming option if you're desperate for a bye-week replacement.

From TheHuddle

Oct 7 4:23pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins will not be a candidate to start in Week 6, according to interim head coach Bill Callahan. QB Case Keenum or QB Colt McCoy will be the starting quarterback against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Spin: Haskins may not receive a start until late in the season, so fantasy players can avoid him. The Redskins should have a favorable matchup this week, but Keenum or McCoy probably should still only be considered as low-end No. 2 quarterbacks in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 6 11:43am ET

The Washington Redskins have declared CB Aaron Colvin, OG Brandon Scherff, QB Case Keenum, TE Jordan Reed, OG Ross Pierschbacher, SS Josh Harvey-Clemons and TE Vernon Davis inactive for Week 5.

From TheHuddle

Oct 4 4:23pm ET

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis (concussion), LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring), TE Jordan Reed (concussion) and TE Brandon Scherff (ankle) were unable to practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 5 against the New England Patriots. QB Case Keenum (foot), WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) and C Chase Roullier (knee) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and are listed as questionable. CB Josh Norman (knee) returned to a full practice Friday and is also listed as questionable. DLs Matt Ioannidis (foot) and Da'Ron Payne (knee) fully participated in practice Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Oct 3 10:20pm ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum (foot) was limited in practice on Thursday, while tight end Vernon Davis (concussion) sat out for the second straight day. Keenum was in a walking boot on Wednesday, but the Redskins still aren't ruling him out for Week 5 against the Patriots after he was benched for poor performance in Week 4. Washington might take it down to the wire on Sunday morning before deciding if it will be Keenum, Colt McCoy or rookie Dwayne Haskins under center. Whoever it is, you should avoid them in fantasy. The Patriots Defense is once again an elite play. Davis looks to be doubtful for this weekend. With Jordan Reed (concussion) still out, Jeremy Sprinkle could have tight end duties all to himself this week. He can be safely avoided in this disaster of an offense, though.

From RotoBaller

Oct 3 5:03pm ET

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis (concussion), LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring), TE Jordan Reed (concussion), OG Brandon Scherff (ankle) and CB Josh Norman (knee) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3. QB Case Keenum (foot), WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) and C Chase Roullier (knee) were limited. DL Matt Ioannidis and DL Da'Ron Payne (knee) were listed as full participants.

From TheHuddle

Oct 3 1:33pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) returned to practice Thursday, Oct. 3, a day after sitting out while wearing a walking boot on his injured foot.

Fantasy Spin: A good sign for Keenum who's started all four of the team's games so far. If he's practicing and trending upward, he's the favorite to start in Week 5, but let's first see how things go over the next few days.

From TheHuddle

Oct 2 7:23pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum was the starting quarterback for the first four games of the season, but now the Redskins are not ready to name the starter for Week 5. Fantasy players probably should avoid the Redskins situation until they find a consistent option at the position.
