New Orleans Saints DE Marcus Davenport (foot) and DT Sheldon Rankins (ankle) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The New Orleans Saints officially placed defensive end Marcus Davenport (Achilles) and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (ankle) on season-ending Injured Reserve on Wednesday. The combination of losing both defensive linemen is a pretty big blow to this Saints Defense to close out the year. Davenport, a first-round pick in 2018, had 31 tackles, six sacks and three forced fumbles in his 13 games, while Rankins, a first-rounder in 2016, had 10 tackles and two sacks in his 10 games in 2019. New Orleans' defense will be a low-tier fantasy play on Monday night in Week 15 against the fading and injured Colts offense in the superdome in a bounce-back game.
Free-agent DE Noah Spence (Redskins) is signing an undisclosed deal with the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, Dec. 11.
New Orleans Saints DT Sheldon Rankins (ankle) has a significant ankle injury, and it's unlikely he returns this season, according to sources.
New Orleans Saints DE Marcus Davenport (foot) suffered a 'significant' foot injury in Week 14 versus the San Francisco 49ers and is expected to undergo season-ending surgery in the near future, according to sources.
The New Orleans Saints Defense posted three sacks and an interception in a 48-46 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately for New Orleans, they couldn't get a stop all afternoon en route to allowing 516 total yards and 48 points. In leagues that penalize for points or yards, the Saints defense was a total letdown. New Orleans will look to rebound in a semi-tough matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15.
New Orleans Saints LB Craig Robertson made five solo stops, three assisted tackles and one pass defensed vs. the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 on Sunday, Dec. 8.
New Orleans Saints LB Demario Davis recorded six solo stops, an assisted tackle and one sack vs. the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 on Sunday, Dec. 8.
New Orleans Saints SS Vonn Bell made nine solo stops and four assisted tackles vs. the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 on Sunday, Dec. 8. He also chipped in a sack.
New Orleans Saints DT Sheldon Rankins (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the Week 14 game and is considered questionable to return.
The New Orleans Saints have declared LB A.J. Klein, OT Andrus Peat, LB Kiko Alonso, CB Patrick Robinson, S Saquan Hampton, C Will Clapp and FB Zach Line inactive for Week 14.
New Orleans Saints OT Andrus Peat (forearm), LB Kiko Alonso (thigh), LB A.J. Klein (knee), FB Zach Line (knee) and TE Jason Vander Laan (head) did not practice Friday, Dec. 6, and have been ruled out for Week 14 versus the San Francisco 49ers. C Will Clapp (elbow) and CB Patrick Robinson (also did not practice Friday but are listed as questionable. OT Terron Armstead (ankle) was limited Friday and is also listed as questionable.
The New Orleans Saints Defense will face off with Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14. The Saints are coming off an excellent Thanksgiving night performance where they recorded nine sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble. New Orleans may have trouble repeating this effort against the 49ers, considering they've allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing defenses. San Francisco also ranks 12th in adjusted sack rate and have given up the 10th-fewest sacks in the league. There are better options out there than New Orleans this week.
New Orleans Saints G Andrus Peat (forearm), LB Kiko Alonso (thigh) and LB A.J. Klein (knee) didn't participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 5. FB Zach Line (knee), OT Terron Armstead (ankle), TE Jason Vander Laan (head) and G Will Clapp (elbow) were limited in practice.
