Brightwell had a hamstring injury that limited him to seven games last season. He didn't get much work even when active, rushing nine times for 19 yards. He has topped 100 total yards just once in three seasons. At this point, he is just trying to keep a roster spot as a reserve back. Brightwell is a power back that does well at getting downhill in a hurry. He is tough to bring down once he gets going. He doesn't have great moves in space, though, and won't make many defenders miss.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Brightwell is not worth a draft pick but might be worth picking up on the waiver wire if he starts getting some consistent work. He could get around 200 total yards with a score or two.

The New York Giants waived running back Gary Brightwell (undisclosed) with an injury designation on Thursday, according to NFL.com. The former 2021 sixth-round pick by the G-Men out of Arizona has remained on the roster over the last three seasons, but his time looks to be coming to an end. So far in his career, Brightwell has rushed 41 times for 164 yards and one touchdown and caught 11 passes for 92 yards in 37 games. He played 100 snaps on special teams last year. With Brightwell out of the building, Devin Singletary, Eric Gray, and Tyrone Tracy Jr. now have less competition for touches.
