Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will not play in Thursday's Hall of Fame game against the Las Vegas Raiders, per head coach Doug Pederson. Jake Luton will get the start while C.J. Beathard (groin) will also be among the team's inactives. Travis Etienne Jr. won't suit up either, as the team will take a cautious approach with last year's first-round pick who missed his rookie season with a foot injury. As James Robinson (Achilles) still recovers from a torn Achilles he suffered late last season, Snoop Conner will likely see the most action out of the backfield in the team's first preseason game.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence hasn't lived up to expectations since entering the league. The 2021 No. 1 overall selection finished his inaugural year by throwing for 3,641 yards and 12 touchdowns throughout 17 games. Yet, he also threw 17 picks and completed only 59.6% of his throws. However, legendary wide receiver and current broadcaster Cris Collinsworth expects a "major jump" from the signal-caller in 2022-23 while also calling his pairing with new head coach Doug Pederson "a match made in heaven." Lawrence will undoubtedly have plenty of options on the offensive end this season. Though he may not see a substantial increase in fantasy production, he has a chance to significantly improve his statistical totals from his rookie campaign.

Jacksonville Jaguars second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence has looked the part in each phase of his first true offseason in the NFL. Quarterbacks coach Mike McCoy saw Lawrence take strides in organized team activities while getting more repetitions in head coach Doug Pederson's offense while developing his comfort level. "The last couple of days through the OTAs, you see some of the checks that he's made at the line of scrimmage," McCoy said. "He's making quicker decisions now." The 22-year-old signal-caller had his growing pains in his rookie season, but he also showed flashes of why he was the No. 1 overall pick, completing 59.6% of his passes for 3,641 yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. With added aerial firepower, Lawrence is expected to take a step forward in Year 2, but fantasy managers should be drafting him as a low-end QB2 with upside.

Jacksonville Jaguars second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence has shown improvement at organized team activities compared to where he was at last year heading into his rookie season. Lawrence showed his elite arm strength in his rookie season, but he now looks more decisive and sure of himself when it comes to delivering the ball, especially in tight windows. The first overall pick struggled in Year 1, throwing more interceptions (17) than touchdowns (12) while throwing for 3,641 yards in 17 games. The Jags spent big in free agency on receiver Christian Kirk and Zay Jones to give Lawrence more help through the air, and the healthy return of running back Travis Etienne should help as well. Lawrence still has plenty of long-term upside, but he'll be no more than a QB2 with upside in redraft leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been happy with new wide receiver Christian Kirk so far this offseason. "He's great. Just from a football IQ sense, I think he's really quarterback friendly," Lawrence said. The Jaguars signed Kirk to a four-year, $72 million deal with $37 million guaranteed in March, and he'll be asked to lead a receiver room that had just one wideout with more than 620 receiving yards in 2021. Jacksonville's receivers caught just nine touchdowns last year, with almost half coming from Marvin Jones Jr. Lawrence struggled to make big plays consistently last year, but the addition of Kirk should help in that regard. Kirk had a career year with the Arizona Cardinals, catching 77 passes for 982 yards and five TDs, but his overall success will depend on how much Lawrence improves in Year 2.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and franchise-tagged offensive tackle Cam Robinson reached an agreement in principle on a three-year contract extension worth $54 million on Wednesday, according to sources. Robinson will receive $18 million per year. The Jaguars can now ignore left tackle in this week's NFL draft with Robinson locked in for three more years. The 26-year-old was the most consistent player on Jacksonville's offensive line a season ago, and his presence into the future is great news for young quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Robinson will continue to protect Lawrence's blind side after he was originally a second-round selection by the Jags in 2017 out of Alabama.

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson signed his franchise tender on Wednesday, locking in his one-year, $16.662 fully guaranteed contract for the 2022 season. The Jaguars and Robinson can still work out a long-term contract extension before the deadline before training camp. The 26-year-old former second-round pick has played only one full season in his five years with Jacksonville. While he was pretty average overall as a left tackle last year, he was better in pass-blocking for rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and the Jaguars will hope that continues in 2022 and beyond.

The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't receiving calls on the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, which likely means that they'll wind up hanging onto the pick. This year's crop of quarterbacks is considered to be pretty weak, so it's not a huge surprise that teams aren't looking to move up to the top of the draft to take a QB. Signal-callers will probably be taken in the first round this month, but none of them are seen as good enough to go that high in the first round. As a result, the Jaguars are expected to keep their No. 1 overall pick to select Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. This will be the second straight year that the Jaguars have had the first overall pick. They took quarterback Trevor Lawrence at No. 1 overall in 2021.

Former Washington Commanders Pro Bowl offensive guard Brandon Scherff intends to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a source. Scherff was a first-round pick (fifth overall) by Washington in 2015 out of Iowa, and he's been a key cog on their offensive line ever since. Scherff is a five-time Pro Bowler, including in each of the last three seasons, so he'll be an immediate upgrade for the Jaguars offensive line as they look to protect second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence better. Scherff played in only 11 games in 2021, but when healthy, he remains one of the better blocking guards in the NFL.

The Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed offensive lineman Tyler Shatley to a two-year deal worth up to $6.8 million with $2.35 million guaranteed on Monday, according to a source. The Jaguars made it a priority to re-sign Shatley, who started 18 games over the last two seasons and is one of the team's leaders. The 30-year-old hasn't missed a game for Jacksonville in the last six seasons, so he's been a staple on their offensive line and will continue to do so while helping to protect young quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Shatley will be the primary backup option to Brandon Linder at center.

Feb 26 12:00pm ET

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence's progress during his second professional season is undoubtedly the team's quickest path to contention in 2022. Already equipped with new head coach Doug Peterson, Lawrence will have even more experienced voices overseeing his development: Press Taylor (offensive coordinator), Mike McCoy (quarterbacks coach), and Bob Cooter (passing game coordinator). "He's eager to learn," Pederson said of Lawrence, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN. "He wants to grow. I've got great teachers in the room that can help him and help him be successful." Lawrence started all 17 games during his rookie year, but he finished tied for the league lead with 17 interceptions. His 602 pass attempts were seventh most, even though he completed those throws at just a 59.6% clip. He is likely solely a two-QB season-long league option at this stage, although Jacksonville's ability to surround him with playmakers could change that dynamic.
