Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt was spotted doing 11-on-11 work during Sunday's practice. The veteran didn't participate in team drills over the last few days and recently requested a trade. However, with the Browns denying the demand, it appears Hunt has already raised the white flag. Although the 27-year-old is listed behind Nick Chubb on the depth chart, a spot he's very familiar with, he has historically been a relatively reliable PPR option due to his pass-catching ability. Still, he's dealt with injuries and off-the-field issues over the years, which remain concerns for fantasy managers heading into the 2022-23 campaign.

Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt shocked many when he decided to request a trade from the organization. He started skipping team drills in camp while he seeks a new contract. The organization has responded by fining Hunt and declining his request for a trade. This ultimately might backfire on Hunt since the Browns do have depth at the running back position. Nick Chubb is a stud and D'Ernest Johnson has proven himself to be a capable option. The Browns would likely move Hunt if the team received real assets in return. However, it seems unlikely that the Browns are going to move Hunt just because he requested a new deal.

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt participated in team drills on Sunday, Aug. 7, after not doing so in previous practices because of his desire for a new contract or trade.

Fantasy Spin: Despite Hunt's demands, the Browns reportedly won't oblige, and his participation in practice on Sunday may mean he's accepted that fact. This situation still bears monitoring, but Hunt will be a borderline RB2 in a contract year.

Aug 7 1:10pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt, who is seeking a new contract as he heads into the final year of his current two-year, $13.25 million deal, has requested a trade. However, the Browns have already told him they won't trade him. Hunt hasn't taken part in team drills at training camp in the last two days as he "holds in" for a new deal. The 27-year-old only played in eight games last year due to an injury, but he rushed for 841 yards and six touchdowns on 198 carries and caught 38 passes for 304 yards and five more scores in 2020. Hunt doesn't have much leverage as he asks for a new deal while also taking part in individual drills this summer. If he stays in Cleveland for the 2022 season, he'll be an RB3/flex option with more upside in PPR leagues while working behind Nick Chubb.

Dynasty | Browns running back Kareem Hunt is not participating in team drills as he angles for a new contract Dynasty Analysis: The team will be fining him for lack of participation. Furthermore, Hunt has little to no leverage with his hold-in though may prefer a trade or his outright release. The nature of his contract, being very "incentive laden" may allow for greater trade potential to teams in need but the Browns have informed Hunt he will not be traded. With the regular season just over a month away, the timing of Hunts hold-in is not ideal for himself, or the team. Now 27, Hunt has only one (2020) 16-game season on his resume over his past four campaigns and only appeared in eight games in 2021, producing a 78/386/5 stat line as a runner combined with a 22/174/0 line as a receiver. He's a valuable complement but would have upside as a lead back in a new situation while also providing greater upside for Chubb at the same time. Hunt is listed as DLF's RB31 and could be an intriguing risk-on acquisition target for competitive dynasty teams.

Aug 7 11:53am ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt has requested a trade, according to a league source. However, the team reportedly has no interest in honoring that request.

Fantasy Spin: Hunt is entering the final season of his current deal and had previously been seeking a contract extension but negotiations haven't been as productive as initially hoped. If he remains in Cleveland, he will be listed behind Nick Chubb on the depth chart, although he should have plenty of value as a flex option in PPR fantasy leagues on a consistent basis.

Aug 6 5:40pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt will not participate in team drills. The veteran is determined to receive an extension and has reiterated multiple times he will only perform individual sessions until then. Hunt's agent was reportedly at the Browns' facility recently for negotiations, although it's unknown how close the sides are to an agreement. The 27-year-old would like to remain in Cleveland. However, a trade also hasn't been ruled out. Nevertheless, despite being involved in a timeshare with Nick Chubb, Hunt has been a potent PPR fantasy producer over the years when available. He's battles injuries and off-the-field issues. Yet, no matter where he suits up this season, he should continue to be a reliable fantasy option as long as he stays healthy.

Aug 6 5:23pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt skipped team drills during training camp practice Saturday, Aug. 6, according to a source. Hunt reportedly told the Browns to either pay him or trade him.

Fantasy Spin: In the final year of his contract, Hunt has been a strong complement to starter Nick Chubb. It isn't clear how long this situation will last, but this adds more risk to drafting Hunt as a borderline RB2.

Jun 30 11:50pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt struggled with injuries last season, limiting him to only eight games played. While still searching for a contract extension in an effort to remain a member of the Browns organization, it's good to know that health is no longer a concern for Hunt, who says "he feels 100%." Regardless of who ultimately ends up behind center, there are 181 vacated targets with minimal proven receiving options on the roster, creating a real opportunity for Hunt. After finishing as the RB10 in 2020 and RB8 in the first six games last season, Hunt has demonstrated his ability to produce and will again be a top-24 running back this year if he can stay healthy.

Jun 29 12:43pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt says he's fully healthy after battling calf issues last season. 'I'm good, I'm 100 percent, I have some time to heal this offseason and get back to it,' Hunt said. 'So body is feeling good, nothing's bothering me.' Hunt also reiterated that he's hoping to get a contract extension from Cleveland. 'I hope I get paid,' Hunt added. 'So you know, whatever they decide, they know I'm going to come out there and give it my all and I'll do whatever I can to help the team win.'

Fantasy Spin: Hunt looks set to play out the final year of his contract with the Browns. He'll continue to form one of the best running back duos in the NFL with Nick Chubb in 2022 and has standalone value as a flex play.

Jun 18 1:20am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt hopes to secure an extension with the club. He's entering the final year of his current deal, and while he has acknowledged that there have been discussions between both parties, nothing has come of it. Despite losing touches to Nick Chubb over the years, Hunt is considered by many to be the best backup in the league. He had his most productive season in Cleveland in 2020, where he had 841 rushing yards, 304 receiving yards, and 11 total touchdowns. However, the 26-year-old spent a significant portion of the 2021-22 campaign on the shelf due to injury. Nonetheless, if Hunt remains healthy, he has an excellent chance to see a substantial uptick in production come September, regardless of how negotiations with the franchise pan out.

Jun 17 6:23pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt said he hopes to sign contract extension with the Browns at some point but is not sure of the team's interest level. He said his agent has had some discussions with the Browns but does not know how far the talks have gone.

Fantasy Spin: Hunt will be with the team for at least one more season and should see a decent amount of touches each week. He can be considered at least a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Jun 2 4:13pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt and the team have not engaged in 'substantive extension talks,' according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. However, Hunt is still very much in the plans for the 2022 season, per Cabot.

Fantasy Spin: Cabot also emphasized that Hunt and Nick Chubb appeared on the field together on several occasions throughout Wednesday's OTA session and that the pair could be featured together more often this season. At worst, Hunt is a very good handcuff to Chubb who possesses high-end flex/low-end RB2 value even when Chubb is healthy. Both players' fantasy values could be set to increase if/when Deshaun Watson is able to play this season.

May 31 10:03pm ET

The Cleveland Browns and RB Kareem Hunt haven't had 'substantive extension talks,' The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reported. She also notes Hunt is 'still very much in the Browns' plans for this season.'

Fantasy Spin: Hunt is on track to play out the final year of his contract. He'll remain behind Nick Chubb but should have standalone value as a flex play in points-per-reception leagues on a fairly consistent basis.

From TheHuddle

May 29 1:30pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt is very much in the team's plans for the 2022 season despite a surplus of running backs on the roster. Hunt is viewed as a valuable member of the offense while heading into the final year of his contract at a maximum of $6.25 million. The two sides haven't engaged in contract-extension talks, but he isn't in jeopardy of being the odd man out in the RB room. The offense could feature more of Hunt and Nick Chubb on the field together. The 26-year-old's fantasy stock will probably be down because he played in only eight games due to injury while rushing for 386 yards and five touchdowns on 78 carries. He also had 22 catches for 174 yards. In an offense that should be much more explosive with quarterback Deshaun Watson running the show, a healthy Hunt will still have plenty of value, mostly in PPR leagues.

From RotoBaller

May 9 12:03pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt won't see his workload impacted by 2022 fifth-round pick, RB Jerome Ford, Mary Kay Cabot of writes. Kay Cabot notes Ford 'was drafted in part to have a quality back in the pipeline' with Hunt set to hit free agency in 2023 and D'Ernest Johnson's future with the team in question.

Fantasy Spin: Hunt will continue in the same complementary role he has had since going to Cleveland. Nick Chubb remains the Browns running back to own, but Hunt is a must-have for Chubb owners and should have some standalone value with his potential to produce RB2 numbers on a fairly consistent basis. Neither Ford nor Johnson are viable fantasy options unless Hunt and/or Chubb get hurt, although the rookie is an intriguing stash in dynasty formats with the uncertain futures of Hunt and Johnson.
