New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been rumored to potentially be placed on Injured Reserve or sit out late-season games as the team's season has fallen apart, but the 41-year-old is aiming to put those rumors to rest. On his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said his goal after suffering an Achilles tear in Week 1 of last season is to play all 17 games in 2024. He wants to "finish the season the right way." The four-time MVP has completed 62.5% of his passes for 2,627 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions this year. His play hasn't been horrible, but it hasn't been what we've come to expect from the future Hall of Famer. The veteran still has fantasy value in Superflex/two-QB leagues, and it sounds as if he'll be available during the fantasy football playoffs.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers will remain the starter, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said Monday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Spin: Even without all the off-the-field storylines, Rodgers has struggled to produce any value for fantasy. He has just two QB1 (top-12) performances this season and just one since Week 4. Still, he remains the best passer for Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson, who are both WR2 options.

Dec 2 11:10am CT

New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said he still thinks veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers gives the team the best chance to win, and the organization will stick with him as the starter for a Week 14 contest in Miami against the division-rival Dolphins this Sunday. "We have great belief in Aaron and we think he gives us the best opportunity to win," Ulbrich said. The 41-year-old future Hall of Famer came up short yet again in a 26-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13, dropping the Jets to 3-9 on the year. Through 12 games in his second year in New York, Rodgers ranks as the QB19 with 2,627 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 419 pass attempts. He's sporting a career-low 6.3 yards per attempt, and things haven't gotten much better for the Jets' offense since acquiring receiver Davante Adams. Rodgers will be a QB2 once again against Miami in Week 14.

Dec 2 1:33am CT

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers' status as starting quarterback could be in jeopardy, in the opinion of ESPN's Rich Cimini, who notes that, when asked if he was contemplating a quarterback change, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich replied, 'Not at this time.' Ulbrich also indicated he needed to watch the film before evaluating Rodgers' performance in Week 13.

Fantasy Spin: It's all speculation at this point, but New York's season has gone completely off the rails, so nothing seems out of bounds. It shouldn't matter much to fantasy owners, though, as Rodgers' play has banished him to the outskirts of QB2 territory, having now passed for less than 200 yards in three straight games.

From TheHuddle

Dec 1 5:43pm CT

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers completed 21-of-39 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks, and he ran twice for six yards.

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers has picked up the pace, at least in terms of touchdown passes, record two or more scoring strikes in four of the past five outings. However, he has 233 or fewer passing yards in five in a row, and 185 or fewer yards in three straight. He has devolved into a low-end QB2 in most fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 1 4:20pm CT

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 185 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception off 21-for-39 passing in Sunday's five-point loss to the Seahawks. He had one of his better showings of the 2024-25 campaign in the loss to the Colts ahead of the team's bye. Unfortunately, the veteran couldn't keep things going versus Seattle, with the Seahawks defense only allowing the signal-caller to complete just 53.9% of his attempts. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich stated entering the contest that the team has no plans of shutting down Rodgers. However, while speaking to the media after Sunday's loss, Ulbrich didn't rule out a potential quarterback change moving ahead. Either way, the clock is ticking, so his time under center (and possibly in New York) could be ending soon if the Jets don't show signs of life in the AFC East clash with the Miami Dolphins in Week 14.

Dec 1 10:30am CT

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is viewed as a long shot to remain with the team in 2025, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rodgers carries no guaranteed money into next season but does have a $35 million option bonus. The decision of whether to exercise that option will fall on the Jets' front office, including their new head coach and general manager. Rapoport notes that Rodgers is having the worst stretch of his career and has consistently dealt with nagging injuries, though he's finally off the injury report for Week 13. To this point, the veteran quarterback has completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 2,442 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, ranking as the overall QB19 in fantasy football.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers comes out of his bye to face off against the Seattle Seahawks at home in Week 13. The Jets had been sputtering on offense heading into the bye as they scored just 33 total points in their two previous games before the week off. The Seahawks represent a middle-of-the-road matchup for Rodgers as they are allowing the 18th-most fantasy points per game to opposing signal-callers this season. Rodgers has just 335 passing yards and two touchdowns over his past two games and should be treated as a mid-range QB3 in fantasy in Week 13 against Seattle.

Nov 27 10:10am CT

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will remain the starter as long as he stays healthy, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed Wednesday. There had previously been some chatter about a potential benching after it was reported that owner Woody Johnson proposed starting Tyrod Taylor over Rodgers. However, Ulbrich has now confirmed that the job belongs to Rodgers, barring an injury. The topic of health is an interesting one given recent rumors that Rodgers refused to undergo medical scans and was a candidate for injured reserve. Nevertheless, Ulbrich cleared the air Wednesday, saying Rodgers is healthier than he has been in several weeks. The veteran quarterback ranks as the overall QB19 in fantasy football this season, completing 241 passes for 2,442 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He'll rank as a high-end fantasy QB2 heading into a somewhat favorable matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he has not decided if he wants to play in 2025 yet. On a Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee show, the future Hall of Famer said his No. 1 option would be to return to the Jets if he plays, but there is still uncertainty ahead. There have been several reports of drama with Rodgers within the New York organization, but Rodgers said he has not spoken to people who would know his plans for the upcoming season. Either way, things are not panning out as Rodgers hoped this season, as head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas have been fired before Week 12. The Jets are a longshot to make the playoffs this season after getting out to a 3-8 start. Rodgers has thrown for 2,442 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2024.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday, Nov. 26, that he's unsure whether he wants to play in 2025 but prefers to stay with the Jets if he does.

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers has clearly battled leg injuries this season and has been a QB2 for much of the season. He'll be matchup play the rest of the way as he possibly auditions for his team.

From TheHuddle

Nov 25 2:20pm CT

Per New York Jets head coach Jeff Ulbrich, quarterback Aaron Rodgers will start next Sunday when his team takes on the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium. Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported the news. There were some rumblings over the Jets' Week 11 bye that the 40-year-old veteran would be removed from his job as New York's starting signal-caller, but it appears those reports lacked any veritable truth. "There has been no discussion about shutting down Aaron Rodgers," said Ulbrich. The long-time Green Bay Packer is in his twentieth season and hasn't been at his best, leading a reeling New York team that's lost seven of their last eight contests. Perhaps the bye week did this team some good, allowing them to sort out whatever issues they've had. However, that remains to be seen. They'll take on a Seahawks squad that sits atop the NFC West at 6-5.

Nov 25 9:33am CT

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (hamstring, knee, ankle) has resisted getting scans done this season, not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. The hamstring injury he suffered against the Denver Broncos Sept. 29 was believed to be a particularly significant one, but Rodgers assured everyone it was fine.

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers is a QB2, but when you put the injuries into perspective, he really hasn't played that poorly, for fantasy purposes at least. He'll be a matchup play the rest of the way following his bye week.

Nov 24 9:40am CT

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been subject to a few rumors over the last week or so. First, it was being reported that the Jets were planning to bench Rodgers or place him on the injured reserve. After that news came out Rodgers reportedly said that he plans to play elsewhere in 2025. It seemed that the two sides were in agreement to move on after this season. Now, it's being reported that the drama between Rodgers and Jets owner Woody Johnson has been overblown. Both parties agreed that the 2024 season has been disappointing with the team underperforming and Rodgers playing through injuries. This doesn't mean that Rodgers will return in 2025, but it certainly doesn't sound like the two sides have completely cut off communication.

Nov 24 8:30am CT

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was recently in discussions to be benched or possibly placed on the injured reserve. It sounds like the Jets are done with the Rodgers experiment in New York. The feeling sounds mutual as Rodgers as expressed interest in playing for another team in 2025. The 40-year-old has 2,442 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions heading into Week 12. It has been a disaster of a season for the Jets as they were expected to be legitimate playoff contenders. It sounds like the organization would like to wipe the slate clean and move on from Rodgers. Now, it remains to be seen if any team would be willing to add the former MVP in 2025.

Nov 23 11:10am CT

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has lost confidence in quarterback Aaron Rodgers' ability to lead the team to their first playoff berth in 14 years, according to sources. No decisions have been made yet, but it's increasingly likely that Rodgers, who isn't 100% healthy, could be placed on Injured Reserve or benched over the next few weeks. Some around the NFL wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers is cut mid-season. The four-time MVP's relationship with Johnson has been strained for months, and sources with the team and around the league think Rodgers wants to play in 2025, just not for the Jets. The 40-year-old tore his Achilles in Week 1 of 2023, and while he hasn't been terrible in 2024, he hasn't been very good, either, throwing for 2,442 yards, 17 TDs and seven interceptions in 11 starts. It appears Rodgers' tenure with the Jets will come to an end soon.

Nov 21 12:50pm CT

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson broached the idea of benching quarterback Aaron Rodgers in an internal meeting on Sept. 30 after the team lost to the Denver Broncos to fall to 2-2 on the year, according to multiple sources. One source indicated the suggestion was "said in jest in a provocative nature," while others in the meeting took it differently. "If Woody really wanted Rodgers benched, he would've been benched," another source said. Two people in that meeting aren't with the team anymore, as both head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas have been canned. Sitting at 3-8, the Jets are poised for an organizational reset in the offseason, and although Rodgers said he wants to continue playing in 2025, it will likely have to come somewhere other than New York. The 77-year-old Johnson has taken a more hands-on approach since the end of last year.

Nov 20 8:40am CT

There are "far more questions than answers" surrounding the future of the New York Jets and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Jets already have started cleaned house, firing coach Robert Saleh earlier this season and general manager Joe Douglas on Tuesday, which leaves Rodgers' future with the team in doubt. The veteran quarterback is under contract for next season, but will turn 41 next month, has no guaranteed money remaining on his deal, and is in the midst of a 3-8 season. The former MVP has said he is leaning toward playing in 2025, but whether it's for the Jets is yet to be decided.

From RotoBaller

Nov 19 2:40pm CT

The New York Jets named Phil Savage as their interim general manager after firing former GM Joe Douglas on Tuesday, according to a source. Savage was serving as the team's senior football adviser and was formerly the general manager of the Cleveland Browns from 2005 to 2008. Owner Woody Johnson said the Jets "will begin the process to identify a new GM immediately." Douglas signed a six-year contract when he was hired in June of 2019 and was scheduled to be a free agent after the 2024 season. The Jets went 30-64 under Douglas, with no winning seasons or playoff appearances. Douglas traded for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers in April of 2023, but Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1 of last year and has been a big disappointment this season. With major changes coming this offseason, Rodgers isn't expected back in 2025.

From RotoBaller

Nov 19 2:03pm CT

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to remain the team's starting quarterback heading into the 2025 season, according to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini. Per Cimini, the dismissal of general manager Joe Douglas ended whatever possibility existed of Rodgers returning.

Fantasy Spin: Cimini notes that Rodgers had a good relationship with Douglas and advocated for interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, so the fact that the former was fired and the latter has almost no chance of sticking around is probably enough evidence to suggest the 40-year-old quarterback has no interest in remaining in New York.
