Kansas City Chiefs running back Keaontay Ingram has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Ingram, who began the season with the Cardinals, signed with the Chiefs' practice squad back in late November. Ingram's elevation could mean that Isiah Pacheco (concussion) or perhaps Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) will not be available for Sunday's game against the Bengals. CEH is currently listed as questionable while Pacheco has not yet been medically cleared to play despite returning to practice on Friday.

The Arizona Cardinals released running back Keaontay Ingram and defensive lineman Ben Stille from the active 53-man roster on Tuesday and released offensive lineman Austen Pleasants from the practice squad. The Cardinals are fully stocked at the running back position now that James Conner is back from Injured Reserve and after the team claimed Michael Carter off waivers from the New York Jets a few weeks ago. The Cardinals also have rookie Emari Demercado currently operating as the No. 3. The 24-year-old Ingram played in eight games (one start) for Arizona this year and had 35 rushing attempts for only 74 yards (2.11 yards per carry) while adding four receptions for an additional 26 yards through the air. Ingram will be hoping to latch on with another team as RB depth.

While many expect James Conner (knee) to make his anticipated return from IR, Conner did not practice on Friday and is currently listed as questionable. Even if Conner does play, Arizona will likely be cautious with his use. This could allow Ingram to get some solid work against a Falcons defense rated in the middle of the pack against the run. Additionally, with quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) expected to make his long-awaited season debut, some running lanes could be available for Ingram to make an impact. Fantasy managers should consider Ingram an RB3/Flex play with upside for more.

The Browns stifled the Arizona run game all day, which impacted the ability of rookie quarterback Clayton Tune to get anything going in the passing game. The combination of a stingy Cleveland defense and stacked fronts made it a day to forget for Ingram before the game script necessitated switching to the aerial attack. With James Conner (knee) eligible to return as early as Week 10, Ingram may be relegated back to a complimentary role in the Arizona backfield sooner rather than later.

Arizona Cardinals running back Keaontay Ingram should remain on the fantasy bench in Week 9. In Week 8, Ingram was hardly on the field and received no touches, while teammate Emari Demercado played the bell-cow role. With Demercado out for the Week 9 game, one would assume Ingram would get the starting nod. That is a realistic possibility. The matchup, however, is a brutal one. The Cleveland Browns sport one of the best defenses in the NFL, most notably against the run. Even if Ingram is named the starter, it will likely be tough sledding for the second-year running back. Additionally, it appears that the Cardinals will go with rookie Clayton Tune under center, further complicating matters. With that in mind, Ingram is best left on the fantasy bench.
