New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed just 12 of 30 passes (40 percent) for 88 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions during Sunday's loss to the New York Jets. He also rushed for 13 yards. Snow and wind contributed to a very shaky game for Zappe, who took over as the Patriots' starting quarterback during the second half of the season. He finishes 2023 having amassed 1,272 passing yards, seven total touchdowns, and nine turnovers. Key questions face the Patriots this offseason, especially at quarterback and head coach. Both Zappe and Mac Jones find themselves on the hot seat as the Patriots, who have clinched a top-three draft pick, could look to select a new signal-caller.

Jan 6 9:10pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe remains off the fantasy radar for Week 18 versus the New York Jets. A variety of factors make Zappe an unappealing option ahead of Sunday's season finale. First of all, the Jets, despite enduring significant dysfunction this season, have a very strong secondary. New York is averaging the third-fewest fantasy points allowed per game in 2023, making it unlikely that Zappe, who has looked inconsistent through five starts, will have any fantasy relevance. Furthermore, the forecast for this game calls for heavy snow, rain, and wind, which makes it very difficult to execute a good passing attack. The odds are stacked against Zappe this week, keeping him in the QB3 tier for fantasy purposes.

Jan 1 10:10am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 16 of 26 passes for 209 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills. He also took three sacks but did manage to rush for 37 yards and a score. Just one week removed from a big outing versus the Denver Broncos, Zappe crumbled in a divisional matchup on the road. The 24-year-old is still in the developmental phase of his career, flashing potential at times but also showing key areas where he needs to improve. He'll be relegated to the QB3 tier in fantasy football ahead of next week's clash versus a dominant New York Jets defense.

Dynasty | Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 16-of-26 passes for 209 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions in the Patriots loss to the Bills. Dynasty Analysis: This was clearly Zappe's worst game of the year and he simply didn't do anything to distinguish himself as a long-term answer in New England or anywhere else. In nine games played this year, Zappe threw for just six touchdowns and seven interceptions. With the Patriots looking like a team with a top-five draft pick and a giant hole at quarterback, Zappe can be dumped from dynasty rosters.

Dec 29 5:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe is not a very reliable option for fantasy football ahead of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. On one hand, the 24-year-old has been solid over his last three starts, amassing six touchdowns and just two interceptions. He impressed with 256 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during last Sunday's win over the Denver Broncos. However, he lacks rushing upside and has a somewhat difficult matchup on tap. Zappe does have the potential to be a high-end fantasy QB2, but he also has a very low floor, making him a risky option this week.

Dec 24 11:50pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 25 of 33 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's victory over the Denver Broncos. He also took two sacks and lost one fumble. All in all, the young quarterback had a solid game, showing poise while leading several scoring drives en route to the come-from-behind victory. It's safe to say that he has the starting quarterback job locked up for the rest of the season and might even sneak into the fantasy QB2 tier next week against the Buffalo Bills.

Dec 23 10:20pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe is difficult to trust in most fantasy leagues ahead of Week 16 versus the Denver Broncos. Although the Broncos surrendered five passing touchdowns last week, that was against Jared Goff. Zappe represents a much softer opponent for Denver, and the young quarterback could struggle against a secondary anchored by Patrick Surtain II. Furthermore, the Patriots could rely on a heavy dose of run plays and short passes given how well Ezekiel Elliott has played lately (and how much the Broncos have struggled to defend opposing running backs). All in all, Zappe is a fringe top-24 fantasy option and should be avoided in most leagues.

Dec 17 11:10pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 23 of 31 passes for 180 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He also added a two-yard rush. All in all, this was a massive step backward for Zappe after he threw for three touchdowns and led the Patriots to a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers just one week earlier. With that said, the Chiefs offer much stronger competition than the Steelers, so we can't be too surprised by Zappe's rough outing. He'll now prepare for Week 16 against a Denver Broncos defense that has shown flashes of potential but did surrender five passing touchdowns to Jared Goff this past Saturday.

From RotoBaller

Dec 17 2:20pm ET

New England Patriots left guard Cole Strange (knee) exited during the first half of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was quickly ruled out and will be replaced by Atonio Mafi. This downgrade in the trenches could have negative implications for Bailey Zappe and Ezekiel Elliott against a ferocious Chiefs defensive line led by Chris Jones.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 5:00pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe lacks fantasy appeal for Week 15 versus the Kansas City Chiefs. While he impressed to the tune of 240 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception during last Thursday's upset win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chiefs represent a much tougher test. In fact, Kansas City has surrendered just 204.3 passing yards, 0.5 interceptions, and 17.2 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on a per-game basis this season. Zappe is off the fantasy radar as a QB3 this week. He can be left on waivers.

Dec 8 12:13pm ET

Dynasty | Bailey Zappe guided the Patriots to a 21-18 victory over the Steelers in week 14. Dynasty Analysis: At a time when the Patriots arguably need it least, Zappe threw three touchdowns to only one interception and notched a 115.2 quarterback rating. The win helps give the Bears a stranglehold on the first-overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, a pick acquired from the Panthers in a move that allowed Carolina to secure Bryce Young with the first pick in the 2023 draft. As the for the Zappe and the Patriots, any number of wins in the games that remain likely won't change the outcome of what will occur in 2024, that being a high selection of a quarterback as the team performs a complete reset at the position. Bailey Zappe remains unranked on DLF's quarterback rankings.

Dec 7 11:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 19 of 28 passes for 240 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception during Thursday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had one of the best games of his career, leading the underdog Patriots to just their third victory of 2023 (and their first since Week 7). This performance is all the more impressive when you consider that Zappe didn't have key offensive playmakers Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle), Demario Douglas (concussion), and DeVante Parker (knee) at his disposal. The Patriots will draw a tough matchup against the Chiefs in Week 15, but Zappe could remain on the fantasy radar as a low-end QB2 if New England falls behind early and has to pass a lot.

Dec 6 7:40pm ET

The Pittsburgh Steelers recorded two sacks and a forced fumble while surrendering 24 points to the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 13 loss. This was a surprising letdown but Pittsburgh will have an excellent opportunity to bounce back against the New England Patriots on Thursday night. The Patriots have scored just 13 total points over their past three contests combined and rank near the top of the league in giveaways per game. With Bailey Zappe starting at quarterback and running back Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) ruled out due to injury, New England's offense could struggle to move the ball on the road. Fantasy managers should lock the Steelers D/ST into starting lineups as it has the potential to deliver a massive performance.

Dec 6 7:40pm ET

The New England Patriots' defense has significant streaming appeal in most fantasy football leagues ahead of their primetime clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. While New England has been struggling lately, so, too, has Pittsburgh. The team recently fired its offensive coordinator, scored just 10 points against the Cardinals last week, was forced to make a quarterback change due to injury, and could also be without running back Najee Harris (knee). Meanwhile, the Patriots' defense held the Chargers to zero touchdowns last week, showing off their strength as a unit. Not only will this week's matchup be quite low-scoring, but we could also see plenty of turnovers with Mitch Trubisky and Bailey Zappe quarterbacking their respective teams. The Patriots' defense is firmly in the top-12 conversation in all fantasy leagues.

Dec 6 7:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe is not a reliable fantasy option for Week 14 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. While one could argue that he has been a slight upgrade over Mac Jones, he was still quite disappointing during his first start of the season last Sunday when he led zero scoring drives, tallied just 141 passing yards, and took five sacks. To make matters worse, Zappe won't have his top receiving threats this week. Demario Douglas (concussion) and Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) have already been ruled out, which is bad news for the passing game and the offense as a whole. Fantasy managers should avoid Zappe at all costs ahead of a game that is expected to be very low-scoring.

Dec 5 6:10pm ET

When asked if he knows who is starting at quarterback for the Week 14 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, New England Patriots signal-caller Bailey Zappe said, "Coach (Belichick) has made it pretty clear, but I'll let him announce it to everybody." Belichick usually doesn't divulge his game plans without having his arm twisted, so we may not get an official announcement from the team. But even though Zappe was unable to put any points on the board in his first start of 2023 in the Week 13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, it looks like he's going to get another chance to lead the offense on a short week. Not only is Zappe a desperation low-end QB2, at best, in two-QB fantasy leagues, but the Patriots' offense is extremely beat up and will be without lead back Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle).

Dec 3 8:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe completed 13 of 25 passes for 141 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. He also took five sacks and added 16 rushing yards. Zappe played turnover-free football in his first start of the year, but he also had a low yardage total and failed to lead a single scoring drive. He'll get another opportunity in Week 14 versus the Steelers but isn't on the fantasy radar.

Dec 1 6:50pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe has been named the team's starter ahead of the Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Zappe took over for Mac Jones in the second half of last week's loss to the New York Giants. Zappe went 9-for-14 with 54 passing yards and an interception in that half. The Pats believe Zappe gives them a better chance to win, but it's tough to imagine him being much of an upgrade. It's worth noting that the team has put together a package of plays for Malik Cunningham as well. Neither quarterback is recommended in any fantasy formats for this Week 13 matchup.

From RotoBaller

Dec 1 3:50pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe is expected to start his first game of the season in Week 13, and he immediately finds himself on the fantasy radar as a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues. The second-year quarterback is a higher-upside passer than Mac Jones and should be trusted to air the ball out on Sunday afternoon. A matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers represents a great opportunity for Zappe to be given control of the offense. Fantasy managers should view him as a mid-to-low QB2 this week.

From RotoBaller

Nov 29 11:30pm ET

The New England Patriots are preparing quarterback Bailey Zappe to start this Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers, according to sources. The Athletic's Jeff Howe says that it should be Zappe's job in Week 13 if all goes as expected. Zappe was seen taking first-team repetitions at practice on Wednesday with rookie Malik Cunningham, and not Mac Jones, working as his backup. This move had been coming for a while, with the 24-year-old Zappe having already replaced Jones mid-game on a couple of occasions, including each of the last two games. There's no guarantee Zappe will be all that much of an improvement over Jones, but at this point, the Patriots are just looking for some kind of spark on the offensive side of the ball.
