Dec 11 1:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner (ankle) had a productive week of rehab and head coach Mike Tomlin is leaving the door open for his potential return in Week 15 against the Patriots. However, a lot would have to go right for Conner to play this weekend. That means that you shouldn't plan on having Conner for the fantasy semifinals. Rookie Jaylen Samuels worked as the clear lead back in Week 14, although Stevan Ridley did vulture a goal-line touchdown. Samuels will have RB2 upside, while Ridley is just a desperation flex if Conner misses another game.

Dec 11 12:33pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) was not ruled out of returning in Week 15 by head coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Tomlin added that whatever Conner can do in practice this week will be his guide.

Fantasy Spin: Of course the Steelers are going to leave the door open as long as possible, but Conner's return remains unlikely two weeks after the injury. We'll see what the practice reports out of Pittsburgh say this week, but in the meantime, plan on Jaylen Samuels and Stevan Ridley carrying the RB load Sunday against the Patriots.

Dec 9 3:13pm ET

The Pittsburgh Steelers have declared RB James Conner, DE Olasunkanmi Adeniyi, DE L.T. Walton, OT Marcus Gilbert, FS Marcus D. Allen, QB Mason Rudolph and OT Zach Banner inactive for Week 14.

Dec 9 10:03am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) will be evaluated Monday, Dec. 10, but there is a possibility that he could miss Week 15's game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Spin: Conner was injured during Week 13's game versus the Los Angeles Chargers and has already been ruled out for Week 14's contest against the Oakland Raiders. Jaylen Samuels will receive the bulk of the carries for as long as Conner is sidelined and warrants consideration as a flex option in most fantasy formats. Stevan Ridley could also see a handful of carries but should be avoided in all leagues.

Dec 7 3:33pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) and OT Marcus Gilbert (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 7, and have been ruled out for Week 14. LB Anthony Chickillo (ankle) and FS Morgan Burnett (back) fully participated in practice but are listed as questionable. WR Ryan Switzer (concussion), FB Roosevelt Nix (shoulder) and LS Kameron Canaday (knee) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Dec 6 4:53pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle), LB Anthony Chickillo (ankle), OG Ramon Foster (rest) and OT Marcus Gilbert (knee) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 6. WR Ryan Switzer (concussion), FS Morgan Burnett (bacK0, FB Roosevelt Nix (shoulder) and LS Kameron Canaday (knee) participated fully.

Dec 5 4:43pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown (not injury related), LB Anthony Chickillo (ankle), RB James Conner (ankle), OT Marcus Gilbert (knee), CB Joe Haden (not injury related) and C Maurkice Pouncey (not injury related) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 5. S Morgan Burnett (back), LS Kameron Canaday (knee), FB Roosevelt Nix (shoulder) and WR Ryan Switzer (concussion) practiced in full.

Dec 4 12:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner (ankle) looks to be dealing with a high ankle sprain, which would likely keep him out for multiple weeks. Jaylen Samuels and Stevan Ridley will likely split time in the backfield starting in Week 14 against the Raiders. Samuels had a 10-yard touchdown reception shortly after Conner left the Sunday night game against the Steelers, and he'd likely lead this backfield in touches moving forward. He should be one of the most coveted names off the waiver wire this week and will have RB2 upside against a poor Raiders defense this Sunday. Conner's injury couldn't come at a worse time for the both the Steelers and Conner's fantasy owners, with the fantasy playoffs starting in most leagues this weekend.

Dec 4 12:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said it's the team's "intention" to use a running-back-by-committee approach with James Conner (ankle) possibly out multiple weeks with what could be a high ankle sprain. That could very well be the case, but we would expect rookie Jaylen Samuels to see most of the work alongside Stevan Ridley and Trey Edmunds moving forward. Samuels had a 10-yard touchdown catch late in the Sunday night loss and has RB2 upside against Oakland this weekend. He'll be a hot commodity off the waiver wire as the fantasy playoffs begin.

Dec 4 12:23pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) will miss Week 14 with a sprained ankle, head coach Mike Tomlin said in a news conference Tuesday, Dec. 4. Conner's injury wasn't a leg contusion as first reported, and the ankle sprain is more significant than first expected.

Fantasy Spin: Conner is the latest RB1 to go down and miss time late in the season -- just in time for the fantasy postseason. Hopefully, Conner owners have heeded the warnings and secured the services of likely replacement Jaylen Samuels.

Dec 3 1:50pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner's (leg) right lower leg injury is not considered to be serious, and he's believed to be dealing with a lower leg contusion. It seems like Conner will be OK to play in Week 14 in an excellent matchup against the Raiders, but we'll have to see how much he practices this week. Conner had 60 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and added three catches for 14 yards in the Sunday night loss to the Chargers before he left late in the fourth quarter. Rookie Jaylen Samuels had a 10-yard touchdown catch after Conner departed, and he'd benefit the most if Conner was forced to miss the next game. If Conner winds up playing through his injury, he'll be an RB1 in a game the Steelers should win.

Dec 3 11:13am ET

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (leg) wasn't believed to have suffered a major injury, and it wasn't to his ankle. The swelling will be somewhat of an indicator.

Fantasy Spin: It looks like Conner has avoided anything serious, and he should remain in the RB1 discussion in the interim.

Dec 3 1:43am ET

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (leg) suffered a lower leg contusion on Sunday, Dec. 2, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Prior the injury, Conner ran 15 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns; he added 14 yards on three receptions.

Fantasy Spin: Conner was reportedly moving around alright after the game, but owners will need to keep an eye on what news the next 24 hours brings. If Conner misses time you'd probably be looking at a combination of Jaylen Samuels and Stevan Ridley. Stay tuned.

Dec 2 11:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner (leg) was injured in the fourth quarter of the Sunday night game against the Chargers and limped off with trainers. Conner was injured on a screen play in which the defender rolled up on his leg. It could be the dreaded high ankle sprain, but we'll have to wait and see what his tests show on Monday. Before departing, Conner had 15 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns and added three receptions for an extra 14 yards on four targets. He's been a high-end RB1 all year with Le'Veon Bell holding out, but he could be looking at missed time heading into the fantasy playoffs. Rookie Jaylen Samuels immediately scored a short receiving touchdown after Conner left and would have RB2 appeal moving forward if Conner is forced to miss any games.

Dec 2 11:23pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (lower leg) left the Week 13 game against the Los Angeles Chargers due to an apparent lower right leg or ankle injury. He limped off to the locker room to be evaluated.

Fantasy Spin: Conner was able to punch in a pair of rushing touchdowns before departing, but obviously fantasy owners are concerned with the playoffs right around the corner. Jaylen Samuels would be the player to target if Conner is forced to the shelf.

Nov 28 9:50am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner will be at home to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. Conner is coming off of two straight subpar outings but he remains a fantasy RB1 based on his heavy workload and solid production in the passing game. The Chargers have been average against the run this season, ranking 16th in the league in DVOA and allowing the 19th-most fantasy points per game to the position. Los Angeles has been tough against the pass, so Conner could see some extra work if the Chargers are able to slow Ben Roethlisberger and company through the air. Treat Conner as a mid-range RB1 for Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Nov 27 2:03pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner has fumbled four times this season, with the latest resulting in a turnover in the Week 12 loss to the Denver Broncos Broncos. Head coach Mike Tomlin said he's not 'overly concerned' with the issue in his weekly news conference Tuesday, Nov. 27, but knows upcoming opponents will put the running back's football security to the test.

Fantasy Spin: Ranking fourth in the league with 235 touches, Conner remains a weekly RB1 starter, but he has tailed off of late with 217 total yards and one TD on 46 touches over the last three games.

Nov 25 11:23pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner rushed 13 times for 53 yards in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos and he added four grabs for 42 yards.

Fantasy Spin: It wasn't a great fantasy day for Conner. In fact, it was a bit disappointing considering the Broncos had allowed more than 200 rushing yards to Isaiah Crowell of the Jets and Todd Gurley of the Rams earlier this season. He'll look for better results in Week 13 against the Chargers.

Nov 25 9:10pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner rushed 13 times for 53 yards and added four receptions for 42 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Denver Broncos. Conner was held out of the end zone for the second straight game on an afternoon where the Steelers passed the ball 56 times, leaving him as an afterthought on offense. The second-year running back has now turned in two subpar outings in a row but he remains a solid RB1 in fantasy. He will look to bounce back in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

From RotoBaller

Nov 21 7:20am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner will look to shake off one of his few slow performances of the season when he travels to Denver to take on the Broncos in Week 12. Conner was limited to just 25 rushing yards in Week 11's comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Look for the Steelers to lean more heavily on Conner in Week 12 as run defense has been the weak spot of Vance Joseph's defense this season. The Broncos are allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs while playing tough pass defense. Look for Conner to benefit from this, making him a top-six running back in fantasy for Week 12.
