Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice will not play again this season after being placed on IR with an MCL sprain. Both Guice's real-life team and fantasy owners have to be starting to wonder just how many serious knee injuries one player can withstand. After missing the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL and now this move to IR, Guice will wrap up the first two years of his career having appeared in just five games. Adrian Peterson will lead Washington's running game for the rest of the season, while Chris Thompson figures to step back into a somewhat prominent pass-catching role for the Redskins.

Dec 10 6:23pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a sprained medial collateral ligament Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Spin: The Redskins will finish out the season with Adrian Peterson carrying the load on early downs and Chris Thompson handling most of the work on passing downs. Guice has flashed several times during his two-year NFL career he's been healthy, but he has only been healthy for parts of five games. While Guice could open 2020 as the starter, Washington will almost certainly make sure it has a viable fallback option, which will likely include Peterson.

From TheHuddle

Dec 10 2:00pm ET

Washington running back Derrius Guice was diagnosed with a sprained MCL on Monday. Guice left early in his team's Week 14 loss to the Green Bay Packers after injuring his knee. The second-year running back has dealt with a litany of knee injuries in his short career, most notably a 2018 torn ACL which ended his rookie season. While it is good news that it wasn't Guice's ACL again, this is still yet another setback for the promising running back. There is a strong chance that Washington shuts him down for the final three games of the season as they will be cautious with the situation. Look for Adrian Peterson to handle the early-down work while Chris Thompson will see passing-down duties going forward.

Dec 10 9:03am ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) was diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament, but his anterior cruciate ligament was intact. He'll be out in Week 15, and he could miss the rest of the season.

Fantasy Spin: Adrian Peterson has rushed 33 times for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the last two weeks, and he'll be a flex consideration against the Philadelphia Eagles.

From TheHuddle

Dec 9 3:23pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) will not play in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles due to the knee he suffered in Week 14 versus the Green Bay Packers, according to interim head coach Bill Callahan.

From TheHuddle

Dec 8 4:33pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) rushed for 42 yards on five carries against the Green Bay Packers in Week 14 before he left the game because a knee injury.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Guice will have a chance to play in Week 15. He can be a flex option in fantasy leagues if he plays, but players should have other options available in case he is ruled out.

From TheHuddle

Dec 8 3:33pm ET

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) will not return to the Week 14 game because of his knee injury.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players should know more about Guice's injury in the next day or two. Adrian Peterson will receive most of the work if Guice misses time and can be at least a flex option in leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 8 3:10pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 14's game against the Green Bay Packers. Guice exited due to a knee injury and was immediately labeled as questionable to return. Not much later, he was ruled out for the rest of the contest. Before being forced to leave, Guice ran the ball five times for an explosive 42 yards. With all of Guice's previous knee issues, this is of course something to keep an eye on heading into Week 15 as well. Adrian Peterson will carry the load for Washington on the ground for as long as Guice is out.

From RotoBaller

Dec 8 2:40pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice (knee) exited Sunday's game vs the Packers and is being evaluated for a possible knee injury. Guice walked off under his own power, but given his injury history, there's reason to be concerned. The team doctors were looking at his left knee which is the one he injured earlier this season. The Redskins have listed him as questionable to return. Adrian Peterson would see an uptick in carries in Guice's absence.

From RotoBaller

Dec 8 2:23pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) suffered a knee injury during the Week 14 game and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players should keep an eye on the situation to see if Guice will be able to return to the game. Adrian Peterson will receive most of the snaps at running back if Guice misses time and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option.

From TheHuddle

Dec 6 1:40pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice couldn't have many better matchups in which to follow up on his excellent Week 13 outing. The Packers are allowing the sixth-most yards per game to running backs, and their 13 rushing touchdowns surrendered to RBs is the second-most. We know the Redskins would run the ball on every single play if they could, so look for Guice to once again be a focal point of his team's offensive game plan. Continuing to cap his upside is the presence of Adrian Peterson, but Guice proved last week that a backfield split isn't enough to totally neutralize him when the matchup is right. Guice should be viewed as a fantasy starter in all formats for Week 14.

From RotoBaller

Dec 1 8:40pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice erupted for 129 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries in Sunday's win over the Panthers, marking by far the best performance of his young career. There was promise coming into the matchup against a porous Panthers run defense, with the downside being that Guice might continue to suffer from the even backfield split he's been sharing with Adrian Peterson. As it turns out, neither Guice nor Peterson were held back by limited touches, combining for 228 yards and three touchdowns between the two of them. Whether Guice earned himself a larger share of the opportunity going forward remains to be seen, but it's hard to ignore what he's capable of at this point. He should be firmly entrenched in the fantasy conversation for the remainder of 2019.

From RotoBaller

Dec 1 7:23pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice posted 10 runs for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Week 13 against the Carolina Panthers and he added two catches for eight yards.

Fantasy Spin: Guice entered with only 74 rushing yards and no touchdowns in his entire career, but he showed that he is officially back from an ACL injury and ready to share the workload with Adrian Peterson. He'll look to keep it cooking in Week 14 at Green Bay.

From TheHuddle

Nov 27 5:00pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice is the high-ceiling option in a frustrating backfield split with Adrian Peterson. Guice has taken a relative back seat to Peterson since returning from injury two weeks ago, but his youth and explosiveness make him the more likely candidate to go off despite a limited touch count. The Redskins have understandably been easing their second-year RB into action after long-term injuries cost him most of his first two seasons, but Week 13 represents a good time to take the training wheels off. Washington plays the Panthers, who are allowing just south of five yards per carry to RBs and have surrendered a league-high 16 rushing touchdowns to the position. Guice carries plenty of risk based on the evidence at hand regarding his workload, but he could be staring down flex value with an increase in opportunity.

From RotoBaller

Nov 26 9:33pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice led the team with 26 offensive snaps played Sunday, Nov. 24, against the Detroit Lions. Adrian Peterson played 20 offensive snaps while Wendell Smallwood played 16 snaps on offense.

Fantasy Spin: Guice rushed 10 times for just 32 yards and made one six-yard catch. He's averaging just 2.7 yards per carry including his abbreviated Week 1 outing. The overall quality of the Washington offense can take the bulk of the blame, but fantasy managers will want to see at least a few flashes from him to close the season before being able to trust him next year.

From TheHuddle

Nov 24 9:43pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice rushed 10 times for 32 yards and caught one pass for six yards in a 19-16 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 12.

Fantasy Spin: Guice and Adrian Peterson both logged 10 carries, but if Guice can stay healthy, his role in the offense will likely grow. He still has plenty of long-term potential, but splitting carries with Peterson and the struggles of quarterback Dwayne Haskins figure to limit his upside the rest of this season.

From TheHuddle

Nov 24 8:50pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice continues to be eased into the offense, accounting for 11 touches and 38 total yards in Sunday's win over Detroit. He and Adrian Peterson appear set to continue cutting into each other's workloads, meaning touchdowns and big plays will likely be necessary in order for either player to return high-end fantasy value. Guice owners should maintain optimism that the second-year back will eventually transition into a more featured role as the season nears its end, but there is no evidence to suggest that's an imminent development. Continue to treat Guice as a fringe starting option in fantasy lineups for the time being.

From RotoBaller

Nov 22 2:50pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice saw a relatively even split with Adrian Peterson out of the backfield in Week 11, and with Chris Thompson potentially returning this week, Guice's workload could suffer even more. The Redskins have nothing to play for, so it stands to reason that they will continue to ease Guice into a featured role as opposed to throwing him to the wolves. Expect Peterson to continue cutting into Guice's volume, with Thompson possibly reclaiming his role in the pass-catching department. Detroit has been exploitable on the ground, but Guice's sample of work is just too narrow to trust him on a limited touch count. Start him only as a flex if you must.

From RotoBaller

Nov 17 9:23pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice rushed seven times for 24 yards in Week 11 against the New York Jets and he added a 45-yard touchdown on his only reception.

Fantasy Spin: Guice was an exciting player coming out of LSU, but a serious injury wiped out his rookie season. This is essentially his rookie season, and he has missed time this season, too. If he could stay healthy, we might see him emerge as a fantasy stud, similar to what has happened to Minnesota's Dalvin Cook after injuries limited him early in his career.

From TheHuddle

Nov 14 12:20pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice (knee) will return in Week 11 against the Jets after missing eight weeks with a torn meniscus in his knee. Previous head coach Jay Gruden sat Adrian Peterson in Week 1 with Guice as the lead back, but interim head coach Bill Callahan has built the offense around Peterson since he took over. Callahan said he plans to use both running backs, and their usage will depend on game situations. Weve got a pretty good rotational system for that, Callahan said. We feel pretty confident [Guice will] see quite a bit of action this weekend. Chris Thompson (toe) remains week-to-week and is doubtful for this weekend, so it should be easier to split the load between Peterson and Guice. Still, both Peterson and Guice will cannibalize each other unless the 'Skins go with the hot hand. Guice has more long-term upside, but Peterson might be the more attractive RB3/flex given Callahan's loyalty to him in previous weeks. It's a situation to avoid if you can given Washington's poor offense overall.
