Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross has had issues with consistency during spring practices, according to Jay Morrison of The Athletic.

Fantasy Spin: This news certainly isn't going to surprise fantasy owners. His big-play speed is well known, but between frequent injuries and his up-and-down production, Ross is no more than a late-round lottery ticket.

May 28 8:50pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross, the team's first-round pick in 2016, has shown fluidity as a receiver in head coach Zac Taylor's system so far in organized team activities. The 24-year-old third-year wideout figures to move all around the field as a threat, a decoy and dynamic weapon for the offense. "With John he's still thinking," wide receiver Tyler Boyd said. "He's thinking and then he reacts. I feel like once he gets comfortable and makes plays he'll be fine. He's just got to cut it loose." Cincy's coaching staff isn't babying Ross either, so he'll have plenty of chances to make an impact this year. Ross is still only 23, too, so he could easily break out in Taylor's offense this year, but fantasy owners won't need to invest anything more than a late-round flier in deeper leagues.

May 19 8:43pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (tightness) missed voluntary minicamp with general tightness.

Fantasy Spin: While it doesn't sound serious, his injury history isn't exactly encouraging. Ross has the speed to produce big plays, but he's yet to show he can produce with any sort of consistency. At this point, you can probably leave him on the waiver wire.

Apr 16 9:43pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross will get a clean slate to prove himself under new head coach Zac Taylor, who called Ross 'electric' during his college days.

Fantasy Spin: Ross has battled injuries for most of his two seasons in the NFL, although he was available much more often in 2018. On one hand, it speaks to his playmaking ability that he turned 21 catches into seven touchdowns last season. On the other hand, he only corralled 36.2 percent of his 58 targets, which is an abysmal catch rate at any competitive level. There's still a chance he could experience a post-hype breakout, but fantasy owners would be wise to play the wait-and-see game at this point with him.

Feb 28 2:33am ET

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin refuted a report the team is looking to deal WR John Ross. Tobin said Wednesday, Feb. 27 that the organization has had no talks internally or externally and there are no plans to trade the receiver.

Feb 27 9:30am ET

After a pair of disappointing seasons to open his career, the Cincinnati Bengals are currently shopping wide receiver John Ross. Ross caught 21 balls for 210 yards and seven touchdowns last season, but he hauled in just 36.2 percent of his total targets. While the touchdown numbers were impressive and suggest plenty of upside, Ross having just 21 receptions over his first two seasons isn't what the Bengals expected when they drafted him. Ross should find himself in a better situation once he's dealt, but dynasty owners shouldn't hold their breath if they're expecting Ross to instantly become the speedy, top-tier threat that his college career suggested he'd become.

Feb 26 2:23pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross is being shopped around the NFL, according to sources. Ross was the ninth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. According to NFL media insider Ian Rapoport, a fresh start will be welcomed by both parties.

Fantasy Spin: After Ross was held to exactly zero catches in three games as a rookie, he managed to score seven times over just 21 grabs in 2018. A change in regime may be the impetus for this move, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up in 2019. There are several teams in need of a burner, and Ross only helped his case by proving to be a capable weapon in the red zone last year. He could be as valuable as a low-tier WR2 in the right setting, but gamers should safely treat him as a WR3 or flex, depending on the size of their league.

Dec 23 4:33pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross caught one pass for three yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Ross has been targeted 10 times over the last two games but has only recorded two catches and nine yards during that span. He does have five touchdowns in the last seven games but should only be considered a flex option for desperate owners in deeper leagues.

Dec 21 2:43pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Ross probably will be in the starting lineup this week with Tyler Boyd out of the lineup. He has some fantasy value because of his touchdown potential, but owners in most leagues should be able to find better options.

Dec 21 1:43pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd (knee), LB Jordan Evans (ankle) and CB Tony McRae (hamstring) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns. LB Vontaze Burfict (concussion) returned to a full practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is listed as questionable. OT Cordy Glenn (back), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (ankle), RB Joe Mixon (wrist, thigh), OG Alex Redmond (illness), WR John Ross (knee) and CB KeiVarae Russell (finger) were full participants in practice Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Dec 20 2:33pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Fantasy Spin: Ross may see more targets in the passing game if Tyler Boyd is not able to play. He has posted at least 50 yards in only one game this season but does have four touchdowns in the last six games. He will be facing a tough Cleveland Browns secondary and probably can be avoided in most leagues.
