New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara will be tasked with an expanded role in 2019 with the departure of backfield mate Mark Ingram. 'I'm so anxious to see like, 'What else?'' Kamara said recently. 'You know what I'm saying? What else could I do? Where else could I line up? How else could I be successful? That's the best part of this profession for me. What's the next step you're going to take? 'Ok, he was good last year. How are you going to prove that you are what you are?''
Fantasy Spin: Kamara went from 201 touches as a rookie to 275 this past season with 81 receptions each season. Latavius Murray has been added to help shoulder the RB load, but look for another 275-plus touches this season for Kamara who should be one of the first five RBs off the board in any fantasy draft format this summer.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, May 30, because of an illness.
Fantasy Spin: Kamara should be back on the field in the a few days. He will receive most of the work at running back this upcoming season and should be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues.
The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent running back Javorius Allen on Tuesday, according to a source. Also known as Buck Allen, the former USC Trojan had 41 carries for 110 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in 2018 for the Ravens. He also caught 35 passes for 196 yards and two more scores. He'll help serve as depth in the backfield behind Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray. Unless one of the two ahead of him suffer an injury, Allen won't have a place on fantasy rosters in 2019.
The New Orleans Saints worked out free-agent running backs Fozzy Whittaker, Rob Kelley and Javorius Allen on Thursday. New Orleans is just looking for some extra backfield depth behind Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray. Allen is probably the most intriguing, but he'd be competing for the No. 3 role with the likes of Dwayne Washington and rookies Devine Ozigbo and A.J. Ouellette.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara was lined up in the slot on 18.9 percent of his receiving snaps in the 2018 season -- the fourth most among running backs with at least 25 slot snaps.
Fantasy Spin: Kamara's 162 receptions over his first two seasons rank second among running backs since 2017 while his 1,535 receiving yards are tops. He's one of the first few players who should some come off the board in PPR drafts, especially now that Mark Ingram has departed for the Ravens.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara became just the second running back ever to catch at least 11 passes in a conference championship game. San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon caught 11 passes in the NFC Championship game last year with the Minnesota Vikings.
Fantasy Spin: Kamara is arguably the best receiving threat out the backfield in all of football. He has caught 81 balls in each of his first two seasons and must be drafted in the first round, especially with Drew Brees expected to return.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed eight times for just 15 yards in the NFC Championship Game loss against the Los Angeles Rams and he hauled in 11 receptions for 96 yards on 13 targets.
Fantasy Spin: Kamara showed he was able to co-exists with Mark Ingram in the backfield and be a productive fantasy option, especially for those in PPR leagues. If the duo splits the workload again in 2019 in the Crescent City, Kamara is still a must-start across the board in all fantasy formats.
Saints' RB Alvin Kamara had 11 receptions for 96 yards but no touchdowns in Sunday's loss against the Rams.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed 16 times for 71 yards and caught four passes for 35 yards in a 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round Sunday, Jan. 13.
Fantasy Spin: Kamara continues to deliver for fantasy owners thanks in large part to his versatility as a runner and receiver. Expect more of the same against the Rams in the conference title game. Kamara piled up 116 total yards and three touchdowns in a win over the Rams back in Week 9.
