The Arizona Cardinals released running back Alfred Morris on Friday, according to a source. The veteran back had just one carry for four yards in Thursday night's loss to the 49ers. The Cards recently acquired Kenyan Drake from the Dolphins, and he looked surprisingly good against a strong defense. Arizona also has David Johnson, Chase Edmonds and Zach Zenner in their running back room, so there just wasn't space for Morris to stick around.
Arizona Cardinals RB Alfred Morris was released Friday, Nov. 1.
Arizona Cardinals running back Alfred Morris had one carry for four yards in the Week 9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The team gave newly acquired running back Kenyan Drake a lot more work than they anticipated, and Morris suffered. Running back David Johnson (ankle) should have enough time to heal up before the next game, and Morris' window of opportunity is likely closed. He can be cut in all formats.
Arizona Cardinals running back Alfred Morris is expected to see some action Thursday night with David Johnson (ankle) and Chase Edmonds (hamstring) likely out. Newly acquired running back Kenyan Drake's workload will be restricted, and Morris figures to see a lot of the carries on first and second down. The San Francisco 49ers Defense is among the best, though, and Morris has very little upside in the matchup. Morris is a desperation flex option in all formats, and it's best to avoid the situation entirely.
Arizona Cardinals RB Alfred Morris is expected to be active against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9 on Thursday, Oct. 31 against the San Francisco 49ers after being inactive in Week 8.
Fantasy Spin: Morris, Kenyan Drake and Zach Zenner are likely to be part of a running back by committee with Chase Edmonds out and David Johnson questionable and likely to be a game-time decision. It's a mess from a fantasy perspective, and probably best to avoid the situation.
The Arizona Cardinals have declared WR KeeSean Johnson, RB Alfred Morris, C Lamont Gaillard, RB D.J. Foster, DL Zach Allen, RB David Johnson and DL Michael Dogbe inactive for Week 8.

The Dallas Cowboys released veteran running back Alfred Morris on Saturday, according to a source. The move was made in order to make room on the roster for Ezekiel Elliott, who ended his long contract holdout by signing an extension on Wednesday. Rookie Tony Pollard will be Zeke's direct backup in 2019, but Pollard won't really have any standalone fantasy value unless Elliott goes down with an injury. Morris could latch on with another running back-needy team, but he's unlikely to have any fantasy appeal.
Dallas Cowboys RB Alfred Morris was released Saturday, Sept. 7, to make room for Ezekiel Elliott on the 53-man roster.
Dallas Cowboys running back Alfred Morris could be a surprising source of fantasy value in 2019. It all depends on Ezekiel Elliott of course, as if he's on the field, Morris will be almost exclusively on the sidelines. If Elliott sticks with his holdout, however, Morris will be the one to take the ball on early downs while rookie Tony Pollard likely gets passing game work. Morris is familiar with the Cowboys offense and while he's now 30-years-old and unlikely to have a ton left in the tank, he should still have enough to have some solid games if he works as the starter.
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Alfred Morris signed a one-year contract that will count $735,000 against the cap. Morris will receive a $90,000 bonus and a $903,000 base salary if he makes the roster.
