Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) 'doesn't have to come off the field on third down,' according to head coach Jay Gruden.
Fantasy Spin: Assuming he is fully recovered from knee surgery by the start of the year, Guice could be positioned for a heavy workload in the Washington backfield and RB2 production in 2019.
Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) is able to sprint in a straight line but is still not able to do any lateral movements at full speed yet. He also wants to build the strength in his legs over the next few months.
Fantasy Spin: Guice was the team's starting running back last season but missed most of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He may have to share playing time with Adrian Peterson in 2019 if Peterson re-signs with the team. Guice can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy back if he receives most of the playing time.
Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) has progressed to the point that he is able to sprint at full speed.
Fantasy Spin: Unless he suffers an unexpected setback, Guice should be ready for the start of the 2019 season. He should have a chance to lead the backfield sooner rather than later, and RB2 production isn't out of the question.
Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson has had preliminary discussions in regards to staying on the team in 2019, according to ESPN.com's John Keim. Keim posits that Peterson would be a valuable pairing for RB Derrius Guice (knee), who is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Fantasy Spin: Peterson just put in a pleasantly surprising campaign, but this is Guice's backfield as long as he's healthy. If Peterson is retained, he'll merely be a late-round handcuff for those who draft Guice.
Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) posted a video of himself on social media running and doing other drills on the field.
Fantasy Spin: Guice's rookie season was lost to a knee injury, but he should still have a chance to show he can lead the Washington backfield as early as next season. For now, he's a great stash candidate in keeper leagues.
Washington Redskins rookie running back Derrius Guice (knee), who suffered a torn ACL in the first preseason game, has dealt with an infection in his knee that has delayed his rehab. Guice required three additional surgeries to combat the infection. The No. 59 overall pick of the draft was expected to have a big role in the running game this year. There is no timetable on when his recovery will be over, and he's just hoping to be ready when organized team activities start early in the summer. Guice's fantasy value heading into the 2019 season will be based on how much he can do heading into training camp, but this is clearly bad news. He should be stashed in dynasty/keeper formats.
Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) required three additional procedures following August surgery to repair his ACL due to an infection, all of which has slowed his rehab. Guice is no longer dealing with the infection, however, and still hopes to be ready for OTAs next summer.
Fantasy Spin: Guice's recovery will be a story to watch as he looked the part of a quality NFL back prior to injury. He's obviously a nice stash candidate in keeper leagues as well.
