2019 RTSports Outlook

If not for Patrick Mahomes' huge season last year, Ryan's big year would have been talked about more. He had a great rebound season, finishing second overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. Ryan had 38 total touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He also threw for nearly 5,000 yards, finishing 76 yards shy of that mark. He had touchdowns all but the first game of the season. Ryan also had eight 300-yard games and eight games with three-plus scores. Ryan was super consistent. He gets Dirk Koetter back as his offensive coordinator this year, a coach that helped him produce some of his best stats to date. Ryan has at least 26-passing touchdowns seven of nine seasons and eight straight 4,000-yard seasons. Ryan is an accurate, intelligent quarterback with a strong arm and the ability to fit the ball in tight spaces. If there is a knock on him, he can flop in the big game and doesn't do well under intense pressure. The Falcons throw often but have a balanced offense with a lot of talent.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Ryan was a huge bargain last year for those that drafted him, finishing just behind Mahomes in the rankings. He won't come as cheap this year and for good reason. He has enjoyed huge seasons two of the last three years. Consider him a top-five fantasy quarterback. He can get around 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns with few turnovers.

RotoBaller's Outlook

4,924 yards 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Not a bad stat line. That is the 2018 line that meantMatt Ryan finished as the QB2 for fantasy, behind only Patrick Mahomes. He did this despite losing Devonta Freeman for the entire season, and playing behind a mishmash offensive line. In 2019 all of these obstacles look to be fixed. The Falcons added Chris Lindstrom and Kaleb McGary to the offensive line through the draft, as the Falcons have done their best to keep Matt Ryan upright this season. His ranking as the QB2 may not be repeated, with a number of talented quarterbacks looking to jump ahead of him. But this does not mean his numbers are going to regress either. He could very easily finish with the same or even better numbers and still finish in the QB 5-6 range. Some would try to say this is a disappointment, but they would be wrong. While there could be four or five quarterbacks who end up finishing higher in the ranks than Matt Ryan, they will also be drafted much higher, starting with Mahomes in the second-round, through to Baker Mayfield in the fifth. Ryan, on the other hand, is currently going at the end of the seventh or early eighth round, meaning you can use those draft savings on a better player at a more important position. The difference between QB4 and QB12 in 2018 was less than two points per game, meaning even the top-five guys are not significantly better than the middle of the pack players. If you want to get one of the top-five options anyway why not go with the player who is going latest in drafts, and even behind some players likely to finish behind him. Look for Ryan in the seventh round and be set at quarterback all season long as Atlanta rises from the ashes of 2018.

Fantasy Spin: The losses continue to pile up for Atlanta, but it is not stopping Ryan from posting some huge numbers. He has topped 300 passing yards in all six games this year, throwing at least three touchdowns four times. With the Falcons playing in high-scoring shootouts almost every week, Ryan is locked in as a QB1.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan took full advantage of a generous Cardinals Defense in Week 6, completing 30-of-36 passes for 356 yards and four touchdowns with no turnovers. This was his second game in a row with four total touchdowns, as he had three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in Week 5. Oct 11 10:20am ET

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has yet to be held under 300 passing yards in a game and has thrown for multiple touchdowns in all but one game so far this year. This week, he finds himself going up against one of the most favorable defenses for quarterbacks, the Cardinals. Ryan faces a defense this week that ranks in the bottom-five of the league in both points scored and yards allowed. He should easily be able to keep his streak of 300-plus passing yards going and throw for at least two touchdowns as he looks to improve the Falcons to 2-4 on the year.

He also ran in a touchdown, giving him four total touchdowns on the day. Unfortunately for Ryan, his team couldn't hold off the Texans and the team fell to 1-4 on the year. Ryan is a clear QB1 who has topped 300 passing yards in each game so far this year. This was his first game with four touchdowns on the season and was his best fantasy output on the year.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is second in the NFL in passing yards through four weeks, trailing only the great Patrick Mahomes. Ryan's thrown for over 300 yards in each game, including a season-high 397 yards against the Titans in Week 4. He has an uncharacteristic six interceptions through four games, which has compromised his output, but he's still thrown for eight touchdowns, tied for eighth in the league, and has been a solid QB1 so far. This week, the 1-3 Falcons face the Texans in a game they need to win. Expect Ryan to come out firing and utilizing his multitude of offensive weapons on the way to another 300-plus yardage day with two or even three touchdowns.

Sep 29 6:03pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 35-for-53 for 397 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4.

Fantasy Spin: Ryan has thrown for at least 300 yards in all four games this season but was kept out of the end zone for the first time in Week 4. He will be facing the Houston Texans next week and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback.

From TheHuddle

Sep 29 5:00pm ET

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 35 of his 53 attempts on Sunday for 397 yards. He was sacked five times in the game and lost a fumble. He wasn't able to score a touchdown in the Falcons' 24-10 loss to the Titans. Ryan has now topped 300 passing yards in each of his four games this season, but this was his first time failing to score a touchdown. He remains a QB1 going forward and will face the Texans in Houston in Week 5.

Sep 27 9:30am ET

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has thrown for over 300 yards and 2+ touchdowns in each of his first three games this season. He has a good chance to keep that streak going this week as the Falcons host the Titans. Ryan has averaged over 40 passing attempts per game this season, a number we could see going down in the near future, but even with 30-35 passing attempts in an offense that features Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, Ryan should be able to produce strong fantasy numbers. Start him with confidence this week.

Sep 24 1:00pm ET

Atlanta's QB Matt Ryan scored 26.50 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 3 loss in Indianapolis. Ryan threw for 304 yards on 29-of-34 with three touchdowns and one interception.

He passed Hall of Famer John Elway for ninth on the league's career completion list and broke a tie with Elway for No. 11 on the career TD passes list. Ryan now has 4,143 completions and 303 TD strikes.

Fantasy Spin: The Falcons might not be winning regularly but Matty Ice has been a fantasy stud, going for 300 or more yards at least two touchdowns in each of his three outings. He also has six interceptions through three games, but he remains a fantasy must-start heading into Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans.

From TheHuddle

Sep 22 4:40pm ET

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns on 29-for-34 passing in the narrow loss to the Colts in Week 3. After throwing five picks during the first two games of the year, his lone interception in this one was a step in the right direction. Despite Ryan's inaccuracies in the passing game, he remains one of the most productive fantasy quarterbacks in 2019, however, and should continue to have a place in starting lineups in a majority of formats. He will look to keep it going in Week 4 against the Titans.

Sep 22 4:30pm ET

Falcons' QB Matt Ryan passed for 304 yards on 29-of-34 with three touchdowns in Sunday's loss in Indianapolis. It was Ryan's 3rd consecutive 300+ yard passing game. He has averaged 309 yards passing in those games.

Sep 19 10:00am ET

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has five touchdowns and five interceptions through two games. He's been over 300 yards in each game this season and has a good chance to keep that streak going this week against the Colts. The Falcons' run game has yet to show any signs of life, forcing Ryan to throw the ball a great amount. Ryan has elite weapons at his disposal, led by Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. While the Colts' passing defense has been adequate so far, they shouldn't scare you away from starting Ryan, who you should be confident putting out there every week as a solid QB1.
