2019 RTSports Outlook

Chubb had three or fewer carries each of his first six games but finally got a chance for more work Week 7 and took off as the starter for the Browns. He was just four yards shy of a 1,000-yard season despite his little work early in the year. Chubb had 1,145 total yards and 10 touchdowns for the season. He had four 100-yard games and touchdowns five of his last eight games. Chubb should start this year but will lose carries to Kareem Hunt once he gets off the suspended list. This should be a timeshare at running back after Hunt gets on the field in Week 9. Chubb is a very big back with good vision and the ability to run through tacklers. He doesn't have elite speed but enough to make plays on the outside. Chubb didn't get much work on passing downs in college but showed pretty well in that area last year, catching 20 passes. He can improve in that area going forward with more seasoning.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: If Hunt wasn't around, Chubb would be a surefire No. 1 fantasy back. But with Hunt in the mix, Chubb will see a dip in production. Chubb will be a No. 1 back while Hunt is out, but more of a high-end No. 2 when Hunt gets back on the field. Look for around 1,300 total yards, double-digit scores and 30 receptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

After being allotted only minimal usage from Weeks 1-6 (2.6 carries-per-game)Chubbs rookie season was transformed through the opportunity to operate as Cleveland's feature back. He was entrusted with 18.5 carries-per-game from Week 7-16 and established his ability to thrive with an expanded workload by generating 89 yards-per-game during those nine contests. That propelled Chubb into the 10th highest yardage total (996) and would have launched him into consideration as a first-round draft option if not for the looming presence of 2017 rushing leader Kareem Hunt. Chubb should function as an effective point producer for the first eight games, as he confiscates the vast majority of carries within a potent Cleveland offense. The Browns' became more proficient after Freddie Kitchens became the play caller, and the fusion of creativity that Kitchens and Todd Monken can provide while concocting the teams attack will be beneficial for Chubb and the ascending unit. Hunts potential to procure a sizable number of touches once he is no longer affixed to the sideline creates uncertainty regarding the late-season roles for both backs. However, the combination of Chubbs talent, and his opportunity to stockpile yardage until November justifies his Round 2 ADP.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals in Week 15. Chubb is coming off his sixth 100-yard rushing game of the season and will take aim at an Arizona defense that is allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game to the running back position. The only concern for Chubb here is that this game turns into a pass-happy shootout, which would benefit Kareem Hunt more. Either way, Chubb is Cleveland's preferred goal-line back and should see at least 20 touches in Week 15, making him a low-end RB1 in all formats.

Dec 8 5:43pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 15 times for 106 yards in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals and he added one catch for 11 yards on his only target.

Fantasy Spin: Chubb has gone over 100 yards in two of his past three outings despite the presence of Kareem Hunt. That's six 100-yard games on the season, too, as fantasy owners certainly can't complain with Chubb's production. He and the Browns travel to meet the Cardinals in Week 15.

Dec 8 5:00pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb rushed 15 times for 106 yards in a 27-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. He also added an 11-yard reception in the contest. Going up against a weak Cincy run defense Chubb was mostly quiet in the game, outside of a 57-yard run in the third quarter. That long run set Kareem Hunt up for a three-yard touchdown. Chubb has seen his receiving work dip since Hunt returned from suspension but he will remain a low-end RB1 in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals.

From RotoBaller

Dec 6 11:20am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a fantastic matchup against a struggling Cincinnati Bengals Defense in Week 14. Chubb should see at least 20 touches against a Cincy run defense that ranks 27th in DVOA and is allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the running back position. The Browns are likely to jump out to a big lead in this one, which means there should be plenty of second-half, clock-killing carries on tap for Chubb. Fire him up as a locked-in RB1 for the first round of the fantasy playoffs.

From RotoBaller

Dec 3 9:33pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt played 65 percent of the offensive snaps Sunday, Dec. 1, against the Pittsburgh Steelers while RB Nick Chubb played 59 percent of the snaps.

Fantasy Spin: Hunt ran the ball seven times for 46 yards and caught all five of his targets for 19 yards and a touchdown while Chubb totaled 79 yards but no scores. The two should remain in a relatively even timeshare, but Hunt's upside continues to rise the more he's on the field.

From TheHuddle

Dec 1 4:50pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was bottled up in a 20-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13. Chubb finished with 58 yards on 16 carries while tacking on a 21-yard reception in the divisional loss. The second-year running back was mostly held in check by a tough Pittsburgh rush defense, posting a long carry of just 12 yards. Chubb has become a bit more touchdown-dependent since Kareem Hunt joined the team four games ago, but a Week 14 home matchup against a weak Cincinnati Bengals run defense should allow Chubb to bounce back.

From RotoBaller

Dec 1 4:33pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 16 times for 58 yards in Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and he added a 21-yard catch.

Fantasy Spin: It was a subpar day for Chubb, who had 17 total touches in the backfield to 12 total touches for Kareem Hunt. The latter was able to score, too. Fantasy owners of Chubb knew Hunt would be back after his eight-game suspension, and the carving into playing time continues. The Browns host the Bengals in Week 14.

From TheHuddle

Nov 29 6:30am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb came to life in the passing game in Week 12, hauling in three passes for a season-high 58 yards. He will travel to Pittsburgh to take on a tough Steelers run defense in Week 13. Pittsburgh's run defense ranks sixth in DVOA while allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. Chubb was mostly held in check when these two teams met back in Week 11, needing 27 carries to get to 92 yards. He remains an RB1 due to his heavy workload on the ground, but the tough matchup leaves Chubb as more of a low-end RB1 for Week 13's contest.

Nov 24 6:43pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 21 times for 106 yards with a touchdown in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins and he added three receptions for a season-high 58 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Spin: Chubb has run for 92 or more yards in each of the past three outings, and he has had 20 or more carries in six straight contests. He'll face the Steelers on the road in Week 13. He rushed for 92 yards in Week 11 against Pittsburgh.

From TheHuddle

Nov 24 5:40pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb turned in a quality effort in a 41-24 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Chubb carried the ball 21 times for 106 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 58 yards. Chubb's fantasy owners watched in dismay when Kareem Hunt cashed in a six-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter but Chubb got back in their good graces with a five-yard score in the fourth. The 58 yards receiving also was a pleasant sight as Chubb had been losing receiving work to Hunt over the previous two games. A locked-in RB1 in fantasy, Chubb will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Nov 22 11:03pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb faces the Miami Dolphins in Week 12, and the Dolphins have the 31st-ranked run defense in the NFL.

Fantasy Spin: Chubb has been a workhorse all season, and he is one of just two backs averaging more than 100 rushing yards per game. Expect another week of RB1 production against a porous Miami defense.

From TheHuddle

Nov 22 10:50am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a dream matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Chubb will take on a Miami run defense that ranks 29th in the league in DVOA and is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position. While Chubb has lost some passing game work since Kareem Hunt returned from suspension, the Browns should jump out to a big lead, thus giving Chubb a positive game script in the second half. Treat Chubb as a top-five fantasy running back in Week 12.

From RotoBaller

Nov 15 2:13am ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb had 27 carries for 92 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Fantasy Spin: Chubb's 92-yard effort puts him over 1,000 yards for the season, and his 27 carries marked the seventh time this year he's had 20 or more. The return of Kareem Hunt has had no negative effects on Chubb to this point, and Chubb remains an RB1.

From TheHuddle

Nov 15 12:00am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb carried the ball 27 times for 92 yards in a 21-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. Chubb was mostly bottled up by a tough Pittsburgh run defense but the 27 carries go down as a season-high as he became the first NFL player to rush for 1,000 yards in the 2019 season. He did check out near the end of the game with what appeared to be a groin issue. On the negative side, Chubb only drew one target as newly reinstated Kareem Hunt continues to cut into his passing game work. Either way, Chubb will be a lock-button play in Week 12 against a weak Miami Dolphins Defense.

From RotoBaller

Nov 13 11:10am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a tough Week 11 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh has been solid against the run this season, ranking 11th in DVOA and allowing the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. Also working against Chubb on Thursday night is the return of Kareem Hunt. While Hunt only saw four carries last week, he ate into Chubb's receiving work, drawing nine targets to Chubb's four. Chubb remains an explosive runner but he will have to find the end zone to pay dividends for his fantasy owners in Week 11. As such, treat him as a high-end RB2 for Thursday night's game.

From RotoBaller

Nov 12 9:13pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt played 54 percent of the offensive snaps against the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Nov. 10, but starter Nick Chubb played a three-week high of 81 percent in the 19-16 victory. RB Dontrell Hilliard played just eight offensive snaps for his lowest total since Week 5.

Fantasy Spin: Chubb ran 20 times for 116 yards while catching two of four targets for just five yards. Hunt totaled 74 yards from scrimmage on 11 touches with seven receptions and four carries. It's quite possible both could be effective fantasy options in the same games, but Chubb remains the definitive No. 1 option.

From TheHuddle

Nov 10 5:30pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb carried the ball 20 times for 116 yards in a 19-16 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 10. Chubb also added two receptions for five yards in the game. While Chubb only lost four carries to Kareem Hunt, Hunt did see extensive work in the passing game with nine targets. The presence of Hunt could cut into Chubb's passing-game work but it is apparent that the Browns want to utilize Chubb as their primary ball carrier. The Browns will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in Week 11.

From RotoBaller

Nov 8 10:20am ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb draws a plus matchup against a struggling Buffalo Bills run defense in Week 10. Buffalo's run defense ranks 30th in the league in DVOA, while their pass defense has been tough, which means fantasy owners can expect a heavy dose of Chubb this weekend. The only issue at hand is the looming return of Kareem Hunt following an eight-game suspension. The number of touches that Hunt is able to siphon away from Chubb remains to be seen. That being said, Chubb has been excellent this season and will presumably see the majority of the team's red zone carries, which keeps him in play as a solid RB1 for Week 10.

From RotoBaller

Nov 7 10:03pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb ranks second in the league with 100.4 rushing yards per game this season, and he ranks third among running backs with 5.21 yards per carry.

Fantasy Spin: Chubb has been efficient and productive, amassing at least 85 total yards in every game this season. Even with Kareem Hunt's looming return, Chubb should continue to handle a hefty workload and deliver RB1 numbers.

From TheHuddle

Nov 6 11:10am ET

Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens hinted that running back Nick Chubb could lose touches to Kareem Hunt now that he's back from his suspension. "Nick is about one thing and one thing only and that's winning. I don't think either one of those two are selfish at all," Kitchens said. Chubb owners had been fearing this all along. It doesn't mean that Chubb won't still be an RB1 most weeks the rest of the way, it's just that his overall ceiling might take a hit with Hunt now the backup and change of pace in pass-catching situations. Chubb should still be considered a top-10 fantasy running back for Week 10 in a tough matchup against the Bills.
