New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead (knee), who hasn't played since Dec. 17 due to a knee sprain, is expected to play against the Jaguars in the AFC title game next weekend, according to a source. A lot will depend on how much Burkhead does in practice this week, so keep an eye on his status. Dion Lewis will remain the lead back in this backfield and is the most attractive DFS play, but Burkhead's return would lower the ceiling for Lewis' owners. Burkhead may be limited if he returns, though, so James White, who had two touchdowns in the Divisional Round, may still be involved quite a bit.

Jan 15 11:03am ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) is expected to play in the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jan 13 7:10pm ET

New England Patriots running backs Rex Burkhead (knee) and Mike Gillislee (knee) are both inactive for the Divisional Round game against the Titans on Saturday. With them out, James White will be the passing back out of the backfield along with Dion Lewis. Lewis is the obvious DFS choice here, but White will be a cheap sleeper in PPR formats.

Jan 13 7:03pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) has been declared inactive for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Tennessee Titans.

Jan 13 6:53pm ET

The New England Patriots have declared DL Alan Branch, OL Cole Croston, LB David Harris, CB Johnson Bademosi, WR Kenny Britt, RB Mike Gillislee, RB Rex Burkhead inactive for Week 19.

Jan 13 6:40pm ET

New England Patriots running backs Rex Burkhead (knee) and Mike Gillislee (knee), who are both listed as questionable, are not expected to play in the Divisional Round against the Titans on Saturday, according to sources. That would leave Dion Lewis as the primary workhorse back for the Patriots, with James White the top passing back. Burkhead hasn't played since injuring his knee Dec. 17 against the Steelers, and his absence will give New England's offense less versatility. Lewis is the obvious DFS play in this backfield, while White is a sleeper selection in PPR formats.

Jan 13 10:23am ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) is not expected to play in the team's Divisional Round playoff game against the Tennessee Titans Saturday, Jan. 13.

Jan 11 4:23pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 11, and is listed as questionable for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Tennessee Titans.

Jan 11 4:23pm ET

New England Patriots LB Marquis Flowers (illness), RB Mike Gillislee (knee), DT Alan Branch (knee), RB Rex Burkhead (knee), DE Eric Lee (ankle, finger) and RB James White (ankle) were limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 11, and are listed as questionable for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Tennessee Titans.

Jan 10 7:10pm ET

New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead (knee), who was limited in practice Wednesday, is still favoring his injured left knee. He missed the final two games of the regular season and is likely to be limited if he's active in the Divisional Round against the Titans on Saturday. He was sporting a brace on his left knee and didn't complete most of the stretches in practice Wednesday. Burkhead is expected to be available to play this weekend, but how much he'll be able to do is a serious question. That makes him a very risky fantasy option against Tennessee. A lesser role for Burkhead would mean bigger workloads for Dion Lewis and James White.

Jan 10 5:43pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Jan 9 5:33pm ET

New England Patriots RBs Rex Burkhead (knee) and James White (ankle) were limited practice participants Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Jan 9 1:40pm ET

New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead (knee) is back at practice Tuesday. Burkhead returned to practice during the bye week, and he's been expected to return for the Divisional Round all along, so expect him to suit up this Saturday against the Titans. He should continue to mainly serve in a pass-catching role out of the backfield alongside Dion Lewis, and Burkhead should be a fine second running back in DFS. His return will hurt the overall value of Lewis, though.

Jan 3 1:10pm ET

New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead (knee) was back at practice Wednesday after missing the final two games of the regular season. Burkhead was allowed to rest up to end the regular season, and he'll have another week to do so with the Patriots on a first-round bye in the Wild-Card round. Burkhead may not be 100 percent, but he's expected to play in the Divisional Round, which will make Dion Lewis a little less attractive as a fantasy option.

Jan 3 1:03pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) and DT Alan Branch (knee) were back at practice Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Dec 31 11:43am ET

The New England Patriots have declared DL Alan Branch, WR Chris Hogan, OL Cole Croston, LB David Harris, RB James White, RB Mike Gillislee, RB Rex Burkhead inactive for Week 17.

Dec 29 5:43pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) did not practice Friday, Dec. 29, and he will miss the Week 17 game against the New York Jets.

Dec 29 5:33pm ET

New England Patriots DE Alan Branch (knee), RB Rex Burkhead (knee) and RB Mike Gillislee (knee) did not practice Friday, Dec. 29, and they're out for the Week 17 game against the New York Jets. DL Eric Lee (ankle) did not practice and is listed as questionable, as are WR Chris Hogan (shoulder), CB Devin McCourty (shoulder), WR Matthew Slater (hamstring), LB Kyle Van Noy (calf), OT LaAdrian Waddle (ankle) and RB James White (ankle), who were limited in practice.

Dec 29 4:40pm ET

New England Patriots running backs Rex Burkhead (knee) and Mike Gillislee (knee) both missed practice all week and have been ruled out in Week 17 against the Jets. Burkhead wasn't expected to play all along as he rests up for the postseason, but Gillislee is a bit of a surprise after he filled in as Dion Lewis' backup in Week 16 and scored a touchdown. With Gillislee out and James White (ankle) questionable again after missing last week, Lewis will once again be an RB1 in the regular season finale.

Dec 28 4:23pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.
