2019 RTSports Outlook

Dalton finished his season on Injured Reserve because of a thumb injury, missing the last five games of the season. He had touchdowns every game before getting hurt. He was producing decent numbers before the injury, having multiple scores seven of 11 games. He was on pace for 31 touchdowns and 3,732 yards. Dalton should be healthy for the start of this year and lead an offense with A.J. Green and the emerging Tyler Boyd as his top receivers. Dalton has two 4,000-yard season as a pro and four seasons with 25 or more total touchdowns. Dalton doesn't have a huge arm, but he is accurate and does well with hitting his receivers in stride. Dalton has a good grasp of what the Bengals are trying to do offensively and has a great rapport Green. Dalton still is yet to show up in the big game but the rest of his game looks pretty good.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Dalton has the potential as evident by all his scores when playing last year. He has produced some big seasons past years and this could be a nice rebound season in an offense that seems to be emerging. Consider him a solid No. 2 and good platoon option for fantasy teams. Look for Dalton to throw for around 4,000 yards with 30 total touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

We know Giovanni Bernard has a role on the Cincinnati Bengals offense. The problem is as Joe Mixongets better the role gets smaller. In 12 games last season, four of which were starts, Bernard had 56 rushes for 211 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 35 receptions for 218 yards on 48 targets in the passing game. While the reception numbers are good, Mixon will continue to cut into this production as he is a good pass catcher in his own right, with 43 receptions and 296 yards on 55 targets in 13 full games in 2018.With the Bengals spending two sixth-round picks on running backs Trayveon Williams and Rodney Anderson the writing is on the wall that Bernards time with the team may be limited. He will be 28 after the season, which could mean a new team for him in 2020. As for 2019, it will be very difficult for him to find relevance in an offense led by Andy Dalton, with two alpha receivers in A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd.Joe Mixon is ready to explode this season. He is in the conversation to become a top-five fantasy running back. This does not happen by sharing a lot of work with others. He will easily outpace all others on the team for touches and should receive 250 to 275 carries along with his 70 to 80 targets. This means there is no meat on the bone for Bernard and he is not a player you should target in redraft leagues for any reason. Even in dynasty leagues you would be better off taking a chance with either Williams or Anderson in the fourth or fifth round of rookie drafts. Even if it means dropping Giovanni Bernard to make room on your roster.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton may be using more play fakes this upcoming season. With the arrival of new head coach Zac Taylor, Dalton may utilize play-action more often than he has in previous seasons. Under Taylor, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff averaged 10 yards per play-action attempt last season, good for fourth in the league. However, with the retirement of guard Clint Boling and the season-ending injury to tackle Jonah Williams (shoulder), along with the Bengals having only a step of separation on just 53.8 percent of their targets last season, it will be an uphill battle for the 32-year-old. If whats left of the offensive line can hold it together, however, Dalton will have plenty of time to utilize who is available to him on the offensive side of the ball under a new system.

Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Cordy Glenn is moving to left guard in 2019 to make room for first-rounder Jonah Williams at left tackle. Williams was the No. 11 overall pick of last month's draft. If he struggles out of the gates to protect quarterback Andy Dalton, the team could always shift Glenn back to left tackle, although he wasn't all that good on the left side in 2018.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Alabama offensive guard Jonah Williams with the No. 11 pick of the 2019 NFL draft. Williams was a rock on the offensive line for Alabama in his three seasons as the starter. Cincinnati could really use some offensive line help for their running game and to keep quarterback Andy Dalton upright. There's a chance Williams could become an excellent left tackle in the NFL, but he's versatile and is the best offensive line prospect in this draft.

The feeling around the league is that the Cincinnati Bengals aren't in the quarterback market for the first round of the draft on Thursday, especially not with the 11th overall pick. Andy Dalton had a disappointing year due to injury in 2018, but he could be on the hot seat in Cincy if he falters again in 2019. The Bengals are probably better off filling more pressing needs early in this draft, but you shouldn't rule them out from drafting a signal-caller at some point for extra depth at the position.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) said he will be ready to go when practices begin, and he has already been practicing the formations for head coach Zac Taylor's offense.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton will have a few QB1 performances over the course of the year, but he's a QB2 overall.

Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown said the team won't consider extending quarterback Andy Dalton before the 2019 season. Dalton's final year of his contract is in 2020, so the upcoming season with new head coach Zac Taylor will be very important for his future in Cincinnati. The 31-year-old signal-caller played in just 11 games due to injury in 2018 and threw for 2,566 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Dalton also lost a lot of playmakers around him due to injury, including receiver A.J. Green, so he receives somewhat of a pass. He could easily bounce back, but Dalton still should only be drafted as a capable fantasy backup.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton will not receive a contract extension this offseason because the team wants to see how he plays in 2019, according to owner Mike Brown.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton was limited to 11 games this past season and threw for only 2,566 yards. He will be playing in a new offensive scheme next season and will have a solid receiving group to work with on offense. He should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

The Cincinnati Bengals signed free-agent offensive guard John Miller to a three-year, $16.5 million deal on Friday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Miller started 47 games the last four years at right guard with the Bills and will likely be viewed as an upgrade over Alex Redmond at the spot in 2019. Cincy also re-signed right tackle Brian Hart to a three-year deal earlier in the week to shore up their offensive line. Quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Jeff Driskel were sacked a combined 37 times last year.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) was able to begin throwing a football a couple of weeks ago.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton should be ready to go for the start of the season, and while he can deliver some big games against the right opponents, his overall ceiling is in the QB2 range.

From TheHuddle

Feb 6 2:13pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton drew praise from new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor Tuesday, Feb. 5, saying the veteran quarterback is a 'great fit' for the coaching staff's offensive system. 'I've seen Andy do all of the things we've asked (Jared Goff) to do (in Los Angeles),' Taylor said. 'He's great under center, great in play action, great on the perimeter and the nakeds (bootlegs), and he's been an accurate passer when asked to drop back.'

Fantasy Spin: Dalton is capable of posting a few notable stat lines with the right matchups, but gamers would be taking an unnecessary risk to make him anything more than a midrange reserve.

The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to finalize their deal to make Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor as their next head coach after the Super Bowl on Monday, according to a source. It will be the 35-year-old's first head-coaching job in the NFL following two seasons with the Rams. Rams head coach Sean McVay's young assistants continue to popular after his success with the Rams in recent seasons. Taylor will have a lot to work with a healthy Andy Dalton and A.J. Green coming back in 2019, alongside running back Joe Mixon and receiver Tyler Boyd, who broke out in 2018.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has a 'number of years' left, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin, and Tobin said the team is 'comfortable' with Dalton as the starting quarterback.

Fantasy Spin: With a new coaching regime coming to Cincinnati, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Bengals begin to search for their quarterback of the future sooner rather than later. That being said, Dalton should be under center in 2019, providing respectable QB2 production.

From TheHuddle

Jan 24 12:20pm ET

Despite the Cincinnati Bengals firing of head coach Marvin Lewis after the season, league sources indicate more than one candidate during the team's coaching search expressed approval in quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton has proven himself capable in the eyes of the personnel department and also has two years remaining with no dead salary cap charge on his contract. "We're very comfortable with Andy," director of player personnel Duke Tobin said. "We think he's got a number of years left. We feel like we can win with him. But with any position group, we don't just throw away the whole draft board at a group just because we're satisfied with who we have. We'll evaluate them and look at them and see if there's an opportunity to add a guy at every position." Dalton only played in 11 games in 2018 due to injury, but he could easily bounce back in 2019 with better health. He has the weapons around him to succeed, but he's best drafted as a fantasy backup with QB1 upside in the right matchups.
