Cousins probably didn't have quite the season the Vikings hoped, but he played pretty well for fantasy teams. He was ninth overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. Cousins topped 4,000-passing yards and scored 31 total touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He completed a career high 70 percent of his passes. He had touchdowns every single game and five 300-yard games. Cousins has at least 29 total scores four straight seasons and at least 4,000-passing yards all of those seasons. Cousins isn't a flashy quarterback but a productive pocket passer. He doesn't have a huge arm but is accurate and makes smart decisions with the football. Cousins also has a knack for the rushing touchdown, scoring 14 the last four seasons.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Cousins isn't quite an elite option but a solid top-10 fantasy quarterback. He has two top options to work with at receiver and plays in a pass-friendly offense. Expect more consistent production from him this year. He might even top last year's numbers if the Vikings can stay a little healthier. He can throw for around 4,400 yards and score 30 total touchdowns with around 12 interceptions.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins had a spectacular 2018 season, though it didnt necessarily translate to fantasy points as he finished as just QB13. Cousins threw 425-for-606 (70.1%) for 4,298 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He put up these numbers despite the Vikings having a rough season, with Dalvin Cook missing a large chunk of time and an offensive line that ranked among the NFLs worst in 2018. Theres plenty of reason to believe in Cousins this year, however. The Vikings improved their offensive line, added an exciting rookie tight end, and welcomed back a healthy Dalvin Cook. As a starter, Cousins has averaged 22.4, 23.7, 22.2, and 22.1 fantasy points per game in his four seasons, finishing as QB8, QB5, QB6, and QB13 in those years. He is currently being drafted at OVR90 (QB15), behind Jameis Winston, Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, and Philip Rivers. Look for Cousins to exceed his ADP as he is in a prime spot to thrive in a balanced offense that features the best wide receiver duo in the league in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.
|No Playoff Match Up|
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 23 of his 32 passing attempts, while also throwing two touchdown tosses, both to Kyle Rudolph, during the narrow win over the Cowboys on Sunday night. The veteran received plenty of support, however, as Dalvin Cook was up to usual high jinx by rushing for 97 yards and a score on 26 attempts in addition to pulling in seven receptions for 86 yards. To his credit, Cousins has played well as of late, nonetheless, recording 13 touchdowns and only one interception throughout his last five contests. He has a good chance at keeping it going at home against the Broncos in Week 11, and should remain starting in all fantasy leagues moving forward.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins completed 23 of 32 passes for 220 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions during the team's Week 10 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Spin: Make it back-to-back weeks with exactly 220 yards passing for Cousins, and while that's not great fantasy production by any means the veteran has thrown for multiple scores in five of his last six games. Cousins has also cut way down on the turnovers, throwing just one pick in his last eight. Despite their record, Denver isn't an easy opponent in Week 11, and Vic Fangio knows Cousins from his time in Chicago.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns in Week 9, giving him a sparkling 13/1 TD/INT ratio over his last five contests. Those games came against below-average defenses; Week 10's road matchup against the Dallas Cowboys is quite a different story. The Cowboys Defense has only allowed exactly one quarterback to finish as a QB1 (top-12) and they have a fearsome pass-rush that includes Demarcus Lawrence, Robert Quinn, and Michael Bennett. The matchup projects to be close as Dallas is favored by three, so it's likely that the Vikings will be asking Cousins to throw a decent amount. His string of fantasy production is certainly intriguing, but the difficult matchup and the fact that his top wideout Adam Thielen (hamstring) will be sidelined puts Cousins in the mid-tier of QB2 options in Week 10.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins completed 19-of-38 passes for 220 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fantasy Spin: Cousins managed just three touchdown passes through the first four games, but he has managed 11 across the past four to re-emerge as a decent low-end QB1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. The Vikings travel to meet the Cowboys on Sunday night in Week 10.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 19-of-38 passing attempts for 220 yards and three touchdowns in Week 9's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Cousins threw touchdowns to Olabisi Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, and Kyle Rudolph but was inaccurate and flustered by the Chiefs' pass rush all afternoon. The Chiefs were able to completely shut down Stefon Diggs after Adam Thielen (hamstring) left early in the contest, limiting the options Cousins had to work with in the passing game. Still, Cousins has a sparkling 13/1 TD/INT ratio over his last five games played and should be on the QB1/QB2 borderline in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has been absolutely on fire for four weeks straight, completing over 79% of his passes and compiling an impressive 10/1 TD/INT rate in wins over the Giants, Eagles, Lions, and Redskins. The Kansas City Chiefs await in Week 9 and represent a slight step up defensively, but they are banged up and could be without a few studs in cornerback Kendall Fuller and defensive lineman Chris Jones and Frank Clark. This game has one of the highest projected totals (48) of the week, Cousins is in amazing form, and star receiver Adam Thielen looks to be on track to return from his hamstring injury. Start Cousins with confidence as a low-to-mid-tier QB1 in Week 9 and don't be afraid to look his way in daily formats either.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 23-of-26 passes for 285 yards in Week 8's 19-9 win over the Washington Redskins. He didn't throw a touchdown or an interception but was very accurate again in the victory. The Vikings totaled 38 rushing attempts as they continue to stress Dalvin Cook and the rushing attack, but Cousins is feeling it right now as he has topped 285 passing yards in four straight and is averaging a high 10.9 yards per attempt over that span. Cousins will get stud receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) back in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs and he should be started as a QB1 moving forward.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins completed 23 of his 26 passes for 285 yards and rushed twice for two yards in a 19-9 win over the Washington Redskins in Week 8.
Fantasy Spin: Although he was efficient, the lack of touchdowns was brutal for fantasy owners hoping Cousins would continue his recent surge. He's been inconsistent, but Cousins will have QB1 upside against the Kansas City Chiefs next time out.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has been silencing his critics the past three weeks, throwing for 977 yards and an impressive 10/1 TD/INT ratio. He's also coming off back-to-back outings with four touchdowns in wins over the Lions and Eagles. Cousins will be missing Adam Thielen (hamstring) this week, but it shouldn't matter much in an exploitable matchup against the Washington Redskins at home. The Redskins Defense has already given up 14 passing touchdowns and they've been absolutely shredded by competent passing offenses all season. The only reason for pause is the potential cap of Cousins' volume as the Vikings are favored by a whopping 16 points. Start Cousins as a low-end QB1 option as he should be able to keep the streak going through the air in a soft matchup.
Vikings' QB Kirk Cousins scored an astounding 32.85 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 7 win in Detroit. Cousins threw for 337 yards on 24-of-34 with four touchdowns.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins completed 24 of his 34 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-30 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 7, his second straight game with four touchdown passes.
Fantasy Spin: After drawing criticism early in the year, Cousins has topped 300 passing yards in three straight games, throwing 10 touchdowns in that span. He can be deployed as a QB1 against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 24-of-34 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns in Week 7's 42-30 win over the Detroit Lions. Cousins was on point all afternoon, completing passes to seven different receivers and benefiting from the play-action game repeatedly as the Lions Defense had no answer. Cousins put up a solid QB1 performance for the third straight week, passing for 976 yards and a 10/1 TD/INT rate in wins over the Giants, Eagles, and Lions. Adam Thielen (hamstring) left the game early in the first quarter and his status for Week 8 is yet to be determined, but a home matchup against the Washington Redskins (his former team) is juicy enough to put Cousins back on the low-end QB1 map.
Minnesota's QB Kirk Cousins passed for 337 yards on 24-of-34 with four touchdowns in Sunday's win in Detroit. It was Cousins's 3rd consecutive 300+ yard passing game. He has averaged 325 yards passing in those games.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has provided an uptick in production the last two weeks, compiling 639 passing yards and a 6/1 TD/INT ratio in wins against the Giants and the Eagles. Cousins will look to keep it going against the Detroit Lions in Week 7 on the road in what should be a close contest (Vikings are currently favored by one point). The Lions Defense has not performed up to their reputation so far in 2019 as they're allowing 280 passing yards per game (fifth highest) and have surrendered multiple passing touchdowns in 3-of-5 weeks. Their pass rush hasn't been there either as they have just 10 total sacks on the season. The Lions are also getting destroyed on the ground at 133.8 rushing yards per game (sixth highest), so it does seem likely that the Vikings revert to featuring Dalvin Cook and the rushing attack as the focal point of their offense. Start Cousins as a high-end QB2 in Week 7 as he should be afforded enough opportunities to take advantage of a struggling secondary - though the likelihood of scaled-back volume limits his ceiling.
Minnesota Vikings' QB Kirk Cousins scored an impressive 31.65 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 6 win against the Eagles. Cousins threw for 333 yards on 22-of-29 with four touchdowns and one interception.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins had his second straight impressive performance in Week 6, completing 22-of-27 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He threw one touchdown to Adam Thielen and three to Stefon Diggs as the Vikings were able to dice up the injury-riddled Eagles secondary through the air. Cousins has 300 or more passing yards and multiple touchdowns in two straight games but remains just a QB2 heading into Week 7's road tilt against the Detroit Lions.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 22-for-29 for 333 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6.
Fantasy Spin: Cousins struggled early in the season but has posted back-to-back 300 yard games and has six touchdowns during that span. He will be facing the Detroit Lions next week and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.
Vikings' QB Kirk Cousins passed for 333 yards on 22-of-29 with four touchdowns in Sunday's win against the Eagles. It was Cousins's 2nd consecutive 300+ yard passing game. He has averaged 320 yards passing in those games.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins could be in line for a second straight usable fantasy performance in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Though the Eagles have the fourth-best pass rush (per PFF), they've been decimated by injuries to their secondary and had allowed the fourth-most passing touchdowns (nine) prior to facing Luke Falk in Week 5. They also have been very stout against the run with a league-low 2.81 yards per carry allowed, meaning the Vikings will likely need to win this game through the air. Both Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs have extremely winnable matchups - Cousins just needs to buy enough time to get the ball out. Start Cousins as a mid-to-high-end QB2 in Week 6 for standard leagues. He can also be considered as a cheap (low ownership) option in daily formats to allow you to differentiate and spend up at other positions.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 22-for-27 for 306 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants in Week 5.
Fantasy Spin: Cousins bounced back after a slow start to the season with his first 300-yard game and first game with multiple touchdown passes. He will be facing a solid Philadelphia Eagles defense next week and will be a borderline starting option in most fantasy leagues.
