Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said the team is unsure if impending free-agent running back Marshawn Lynch plans to play in 2019. Gruden said "we'd love to have him back" if he decides to play another season. Beast Mode will turn 33 in April and is coming off a season in which he played in just six games due to injury. Lynch ran 90 times for 376 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and three scores. Even if Lynch returns, he'd be more of a low-upside, injury-risk RB2 for Oakland that is more attractive in standard-scoring leagues.

Jan 22 1:43pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch, an impending free agent this offseason, hasn't announced whether he plans on playing in 2019, but if he does, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday, Jan. 22, that 'we'd love to have him back.'

Fantasy Spin: Lynch will be 33 by the time next season rolls around, but he'd still be a fantasy RB2 consideration if were to be projected to be the primary RB in Oakland.

Jan 19 11:53am ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch, who will be a free agent in two months, said on HBO's 'Real Time with Bill Maher' that he is open to playing in 2019 under the right circumstances.

Fantasy Spin: Lynch continues to recover from a strained groin and will turn 33 years old before the start of next season. In six games during the 2018 season, he rushed for 376 yards and had three touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. Assuming he decides to come back for another year, he could be viewed as a low-end RB2 or flex option depending on where he lands.

Dec 6 8:03pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) will not come off injured reserve after the team designated OT Donald Penn to return, which is their maximum second player off IR.

Fantasy Spin: At one point it looked possible Lynch could perhaps return in Week 16 but now that can no longer happen. Doug Martin has filled in capably in his absence, giving those Lynch owners who were able to scoop him up a seamless transition. Lynch, meanwhile, may be done for good after this year.

Dec 6 6:00pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch (groin) is officially out for the rest of the season after the team designated right tackle Donald Penn (groin) as their second player to return from Injured Reserve. Beast Mode made it only six games in his second and final year with the Raiders, rushing the ball 90 times for 376 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and three touchdowns. He'll be 33 years old next April and may decide to hang up his cleats instead of signing with another organization. Doug Martin and Jalen Richard will continue to split the workload in the final four games of the season in a lost year for the black and silver.

Oct 24 11:03am ET

Updating previous reports, Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) had surgery Thursday, Oct. 18, to repair his groin injury. He's hopeful to return this season and would eligible to return from the Reserve/Injured list in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Pay your respects to Beast Mode, but stick a fork in him in fantasy for this year - possibly altogether.

Oct 22 6:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch is headed to Injured Reserve, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Lynch was ruled out for about a month last week after their game against the Seahawks and now officially on IR. He is able to return in 8 weeks, but until then the backfield work will be split by Doug Martin, Jalen Richard and potentially Deandre Washington, but their roles are unclear as of now.

Oct 22 6:13pm ET

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (core, groin) was put on the Reserve/Injured list more so because of a core muscle issue than his groin injury. He may have had surgery this weekend. If he did then he could return in eight weeks.

Oct 22 6:03pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Spin: Look for Doug Martin to lead the Raiders in carries going forward, but Jalen Richard is the Oakland running back you want on your squad. He has been heavily involved in the passing game and will see more carries with Lynch out. Starting Richard as a PPR flex going forward is a viable strategy.

Oct 20 12:23pm ET

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) may be placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of his groin injury.

Fantasy Spin: Lynch would miss at least eight weeks if he placed on the Reserve/Injured list, so he would not have much fantasy value for the rest of the season. Doug Martin is expected to receive a majority of the work at running back at this point but is probably only a flex option in standard leagues.

Oct 19 4:50pm ET

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch (groin) is a strong candidate to go on Injured Reserve. Lynch will miss at least a month with his injury and could be done for the year if he's put on IR. Doug Martin should handle the early downs in his absence, with Jalen Richard the primary pass-catcher and third-down back. Expect Deandre Washington to be active on game days now. Both Martin and Richard should be picked up immediately if they are available and if you are in need of a running back or own Lynch.

Oct 19 3:33pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) is expected to miss at least one month due to a groin injury after undergoing an MRI earlier in the week.

Fantasy Spin: There is reportedly been some initial talk of Lynch landing on the Reserve/Injured list, so it is possible we may not see him again this season. While fantasy owners of Doug Martin may be feeling good about their investment at the moment, Martin hasn't done much to generate excitement in his first year with the Raiders, averaging 3.7 yards per carry on 27 attempts. As a result, Jalen Richard could earn a few more early-down snaps and enter flex consideration on a weekly basis.

Oct 19 3:20pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch is out at least one month due to a groin injury, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Raiders are on a bye this week after their loss in London versus the Seahawks and Lynch had the MRI this week to confirm the injury. In his absence, backup Doug Martin should see an expanded role in the offense, while Jalen Richard should continue to be the pass-catching back, where he has strong PPR value.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 8:53pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) is expected to undergo MRI to determine the severity of the groin strain he suffered in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Jon Gruden told reporters he was hopeful he could still play through the injury but also expressed concern about Lynch's healthy.

Fantasy Spin: Gruden also told reporters he would not have an update on Lynch's status until the team comes off its bye in Week 7. While Jalen Richard has been the best fantasy-point producer behind Lynch in the Oakland backfield, Doug Martin would be the first in line to handle the 17.5 touches per week Lynch has been averaging if the latter is forced to miss any time. Until owners know more about Lynch's prognosis, they should make an effort to snag Martin off waivers.

Oct 16 4:33pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) could have a long-term issue with his groin ailment, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

Fantasy Spin: The spotlight will be on Jalen Richard and Doug Martin if Lynch is sidelined for an extended period. Richard in particular is an attractive PPR option as he has caught 31 passes in six games this year. Richard and Martin are both on the waiver-wire radar, but Richard's blip is brighter.

Oct 16 4:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said he is concerned that running back Marshawn Lynch's (groin) injury could be a long-term injury. Lynch will be evaluated during the team's Week 7 bye. Beast Mode started off the season with a touchdown in three straight games, but he's gone scoreless in three games since then and has 86 yards on 24 carries in the last two games with the Raiders frequently playing behind. He's a volume-based RB2 that needs favorable game script when healthy, but it appears the 32-year-old back could already be breaking down. If his owners don't already have Doug Martin or Jalen Richard handcuffed, take the bye week as an opportunity to pick one or both of them up. Richard has been the more effective fantasy back in PPR leagues with the Raiders often needing to pass to play catch-up.

From RotoBaller

Oct 14 8:33pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch rushed 13 times for 45 yards in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks in London and he added three receptions for 14 yards.

Fantasy Spin: It wasn't a great performance, but this was a big-time defensive game with very little fantasy standouts. You'll need to find another RB3 or flex fantasy option in Week 7 with the Raiders on a bye.

Oct 12 5:10pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch is set to take on his former team Seattle this Sunday in London. Lynch is coming off a very slow game where he only had nine carries for 31 yards last Sunday versus the Chargers. Prior to that, he had one touchdown or over 100 yards in the first four games of the season. The Seahawks come in with the 17th DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) against the rush, which should put Lynch in a spot to return to the production he had to start the season.

Oct 12 2:23pm ET

Oakland Raiders OL Kelechi Osemele (knee) and DT Frostee Rucker (neck) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 12, and are listed as doubtful for Week 6 versus the Seattle Seahawks. S Karl Joseph (hamstring) was also limited in practice Friday and is listed as questionable. C Rodney Hudson (ankle), DT Maurice Hurst (shoulder), OG Gabe Jackson (pectoral), LB Emmanuel Lamur (foot), RB Marshawn Lynch (hip) and OT Kolton Miller (knee) were all limited in practice Friday but have been removed from the injury report.

Oct 11 8:13pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (hip) was limited in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Spin: This is the typical routine for the veteran tailback, as the club does their part in managing his reps. He's a must-start option this week in London against the Seahawks -- not just because of his early-season success -- but also due to the fact that this will be his first game opposite his old team. Look for Lynch to carry the rock often, perhaps even more than usual.
