Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard has been knocked for a perceived deficiency on runs out of the shotgun formation, but 2018's stats don't back that up. Last season, Howard rushed 138 times for 570 yards (4.13 yards per carry) out of the shotgun and ran 111 times for 364 yards (3.28 ypc) when the quarterback was under center.

Fantasy Spin: Howard will be fine running out of any formation, but of more concern to his fantasy value is the Eagles' recent tradition of rotating multiple backs. Put him down as a solid RB3 for now with definite RB2 potential.

Mar 28 10:40pm ET

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired running back Jordan Howard from the Chicago Bears on Thursday in exchange for a sixth-round conditional pick in 2020. The pick can become a fifth-rounder, according to a league source. The 24-year-old started out hot in his rookie year in 2016 and has fallen since, rushing 250 times for 935 yards (3.7 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns in 2018. He doesn't offer anything in the passing game, either, and will be atop a crowded backfield in Philly that also features Corey Clement, Josh Adams and Wendell Smallwood. Howard will again be a touchdown-dependent RB2 in his new home. Tarik Cohen becomes even more intriguing back in Chicago. Philly's acquisition of Howard all but rules out the team re-signing Jay Ajayi.

Mar 28 8:43pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, March 28, in exchange for a 2020 sixth round draft choice, according to a source. The draft choice has a chance to become a fifth-round draft choice based on undisclosed conditions.

Fantasy Spin: The Bears have Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis as their main running backs at this point, but they likely will look to add another running back in free agency or the 2019 Draft. Owners will need to monitor the situation, but Cohen and Davis should have fantasy value in 2019.

Mar 26 4:53pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard still has a role with the Bears, but he could still be traded nonetheless, according to head coach Matt Nagy.

Fantasy Spin: Trade talk involving Howard has waned recently, but he's seemingly not as valuable to Chicago's offense as his counterpart Tarik Cohen. It's not that Howard has necessarily under performed. He's scored 25 total times and averaged over 1,312 yards in his first three seasons. He's a solid standard RB2 assuming he stays in Chicago.

Mar 26 1:20pm ET

The Chicago Bears could explore trade offers for running back Jordan Howard this offseason, according to head coach Matt Nagy. Despite scoring nine touchdowns in back-to-back seasons, Howard saw a career-low 250 rushing attempts for 935 yards in his third season in Chicago and first under Nagy. The 2016 fifth-round pick isn't as good of a fit in Nagy's offense and has become more touchdown-dependent for fantasy owners with the Bears. A trade could boost his fantasy stock back up.

Mar 21 10:03pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is unlikely to have a role in the offense if he remains with the team in 2019, in the opinion of Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Fantasy Spin: Howard has always struggled to make an impact in the passing game, and after regressing as a between-the-tackles runner last year, the Bears don't have much incentive to feature him in the offense. Feel free to take a flier on him in the final rounds of drafts, but don't count on him to be a contributor for your fantasy squad.

Mar 7 2:03pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is the subject of ongoing trade discussions as of Thursday, March 7, per league sources, after multiple teams approached the Bears at the NFL Scouting Combine to inquire about a possible deal.

Fantasy Spin: Howard has been a top-10 fantasy back in all three of his seasons in Chicago, but last year he hit career season lows in rushing yards (935), touches (270) and scrimmage yards (1,080) while matching his 2017 total of nine TDs. He'll likely still be involved in a RB split if he's traded, but he'll be a RB2 consideration regardless given his nose for the end zone (25 TDs in three seasons).

Feb 27 8:13pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is reportedly on the trade block, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

Fantasy Spin: After initially seeing more work in the passing game than he ever did his first two seasons, Howard became more of a glorified early-down and goal-line pounder as 2018 progressed. He did pick up the pace as the season came to an end, but he's still a one-dimensional running back playing for a coach in Matt Nagy who wants his runners to contribute in all areas. If he is traded this spring, he'll likely bring back a Day 3 pick.

Jan 17 1:13am ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard holds little value if the team decides to shop him around during the offseason, according to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, who points out Howard is in the final year of his rookie deal and that running back is one of the NFL's most replaceable positions. Biggs believes Howard's greatest value in 2019 would be as depth for the Bears.

Fantasy Spin: While Howard's nine TDs were nice, his deficiencies in the passing game made him a less-than-ideal fit in Matt Nagy's offense, and it seems his days in the Windy City are numbered despite logging 250 carries last year. With his yardage and yards per carry dropping every year, Howard's value entering next season remains in flux.

Jan 6 8:33pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard rushed 10 times for just 35 yards in the NFC Wild Card Game playoff loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Spin: Howard ran for just 935 yards and 3.7 yards per carry, both career lows after eclipsing the 1,100-yard mark in each of his first two seasons. He tied a career high with nine rushing scores, however, and remains one of the most durable backs with 47 out of a possible 48 games played in his first three NFL seasons. He'll once again be a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in 2019.

Jan 2 4:40pm ET

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard will look to continue his strong finish to the regular season when the Bears take on the Eagles in the Wild Card Round this Sunday. Over his last five games, Howard is averaging 79.8 yards per game with four touchdowns. He will go up against an Eagles run defense that has plenty of talent but have allowed six different running backs to post 98 rushing yards or more against them since Week 6. The Bears offense has pivoted over the last month towards getting their run game going and have fed Howard often in the first half of games. Howard has a chance to post top-3 fantasy numbers among the remaining running backs for Wild Card weekend.

Dec 30 11:53pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard rushed 21 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns and caught one pass for five yards in a 24-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17.

Fantasy Spin: The Bears have been pounding the ball with Howard more in recent weeks, and he has scored in three straight games and topped 100 yards in two of the last four contests. Overall, Howard underwhelmed for fantasy owners this year, but he's gaining steam and could be a sneaky option in playoff contests.

Dec 30 10:40pm ET

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard carried the ball 21 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears 24-10 win over the Vikings. Howard busted off a monster 42-yard run in the first quarter and enjoyed his best fantasy output of the season. Howard's season has been ultimately a disappointment but finished the season strong by averaging 79.8 rushing yards a game with four touchdowns over his last five games. The third-year running back failed to record 1,000-plus yards rushing for his third straight season, finishing the year with 931 yards, but tied a career-high with nine touchdowns. Howard should see plenty of work next week against the Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Dec 30 7:30pm ET

Bears' RB Jordan Howard ran for 109 yards on 21 carries with two touchdowns in Sunday's win in Minnesota.

Dec 24 3:13pm ET

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky, RBs Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen and WR Allen Robinson are among the players head coach Matt Nagy plans to be 'smart' with versus the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17, suggesting he could pull his team's starters if the Los Angeles Rams appear as if they will secure the NFC's second first-round bye.

Dec 23 11:03pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard rushed 13 times for 53 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 17 yards in a 14-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Howard has seen his workload increase the last four games, and while it has boosted his floor a bit, he still isn't running for a ton of yards. Consider him a flex play against the Vikings in Week 17.

Dec 23 7:50pm ET

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard carried the ball 13 times for 53 yards and added 17 receiving yards in the Bears 14-9 win over the 49ers. Howard also punched in his seventh touchdown of the season, a short yardage run that put the Bears up for good. Howard has been disappointing from a fantasy perspective this season but his arrow has been pointing up for several weeks now. The third-year running back is averaging 72.5 rushing yards a game over his last four played and will have a dicey matchup next week against a Vikings defense that is allowing the 11th fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 6:53pm ET

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard ran 19 times for 60 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers and he added a 15-yard catch.

Fantasy Spin: The Bears leaned upon Howard heavily, as he had 20 touches to 10 total touches for Tarik Cohen. Howard remains a decent RB3 or flex fantasy option in Week 16 on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

Dec 16 5:40pm ET

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard carried the ball 19 times for 60 yards in the Bears 24-17 win over the Packers. Once again, Howard did most of his damage in the first half, punctuated by his sixth touchdown of the season in the first quarter. The Bears tend to veer away from the running game in the second half of most games and Howard's fantasy value has severely suffered because of it. He has posted 60-plus rushing yards in four of his last five games and will be a risky RB2/3 play in Week 16 against a 49ers defense that has not allowed more than 69 rushing yards to a single player since Week 5.

From RotoBaller

Dec 14 2:30pm ET

Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard will try to stay hot against a Packers team in Week 15 that is allowing the 12th fewest fantasy point to opposing backs this season. Howard posted his first 100-yard rushing game of the season last week against the Rams and now has 177 rushing yards over his last two games. The cold weather in Chicago has certainly helped Howard's value lately as Chicago' offense has leaned on the running game with more consistency. The third-year running back will go up against a Green Bay run defense that has allowed only two 100-yard rushers all season. Howard tallied 82 yards on 15 carries against the Packers in Week 1 of the season and he will get plenty of opportunities to succeed early on. But the Bears game plan's have a tendency to shift mid-game and Howard has disappeared often this season from the second-half action as the team leans on the passing game. That alone won't allow Howard to ascend above low-end RB2 status for Week 15.
