San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida did not play a single offensive staff in Super Bowl LIV, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.
Fantasy Spin: Breida is set to become a restricted free agent in March. It's unclear why he became the forgotten man in San Francisco's backfield so quickly, although his role dried up shortly after he fumbled twice in a Week 15 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Breida has done enough during his time in San Francisco to draw some interest from other teams, but his fantasy prospects look bleaker now than they did at the same time last year.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida did not see a carry in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite accruing over 700 scrimmage yards during the regular season, Breida faded in the postseason, seeing just nine touches over three games. Entering the offseason as a restricted free agent, the oft-injured but effective Breida (5.0 career YPC) will have hazy fantasy value until his immediate future crystallizes.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida will likely be a third option in the running game during the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite an attractive matchup against the 29th-ranked Chiefs rush defense by DVOA, Breida has garnered just nine touches in two playoff games. While he averaged a crisp 5.1 yards per carry during the regular season, Breida was rarely the lead back and was not utilized in the red zone. The third-year back will need to highlight his breakaway speed for a handful of chunk games to reward any fantasy or prop bet investors on Sunday.
San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo went 11-for-19 for 131 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Minnesota Vikings in the Divisional Round playoff game. RB Tevin Coleman rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. RB Raheem Mostert rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries, while RB Matt Breida rushed for 17 yards on eight carries. WR Deebo Samuel caught three passes for 42 yards on six targets. WR Kendrick Bourne caught three passes for 40 yards and one touchdown on five targets. WR Emmanuel Sanders caught two passes for 33 yards on two targets, while TE George Kittle caught three passes for 16 yards on five targets.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida amassed 17 yards on eight carries in the Divisional Round victory against the Minnesota Vikings. Breida played sparingly but was tapped to salt the game away in the fourth quarter. He lost a fumble on a fourth down conversion that ended up being inconsequential. Breida was a clear third option behind Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert on Saturday, rendering him a desperation flex option in next weeks NFC Championship showdown.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida sits at third on the rushing depth chart and is a desperation flex in the Divisional Round against the Minnesota Vikings. Even after finishing the year with over 700 scrimmage yards at an efficient 5.2 yards per touch, Breida has yielded backfield duties to a surging Raheem Mostert and the versatile Tevin Coleman. Barely scratching the stat sheet with less than five touches per game since December, Breida investors will need the speedy third-year back to flash his big-play ability to cash on his limited opportunities.
San Francisco 49ers running backs Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida combined for just 10 touches in Week 17s thriller against the Seattle Seahawks. Both backs continued playing sparingly behind workhorse Raheem Mostert, with Coleman totaling 17 yards on five totes and a catch while Breida managed 16 yards on four carries. Both runners finish the season with over 700 scrimmage yards but ended on a whimper as Mostert took firm control of the backfield. The Niners rushing committee has become even more crowded lately with wideout Deebo Samuel mixing in the run game. Both Coleman and Breida will be shaky flex options when the Niners emerge from their bye in the Divisional playoff round.
San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 18 of 22 passes for 285 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions during the team's Week 17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. RB Raheem Mostert carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns. WR Deebo Samuel caught five passes for 102 yards; he also ran twice for 33 yards and a score. TE George Kittle had seven receptions for 86 yards and added a seven-yard run. WR Emmanuel Sanders posted three catches for 25 yards. RB Matt Breida had four carries for 16 yards while RB Tevin Coleman gained 11 yards on five rushing attempts.
Despite being healthy, San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida did not play a single snap in Week 15. Hell look to resurface in Week 16 against a shaky Seattle Seahawks rush defense. Head coach Kyle Shanahan cited game flow and insisted Breida was not benched nor injured, but his volatile playing time makes him an extremely risky fantasy play. Since Raheem Mosterts assumed control of the backfield, Breidas averaged just over four touches per game. While he has the breakaway speed for chunk gains on any opportunity, Breida barely scratches the surface as a flex candidate.
San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida did not record a touch in a 34-31 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16.
Fantasy Spin: Breida has been San Francisco's most explosive back, but after a pair of fumbles in Week 15, it appears he may be in the doghouse. If you are in a league that includes Week 17 in its scoring, Raheem Mostert is the the 49ers running back you want to own.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida has receded as the third option in the running game and is a volatile flex in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams. Since returning from an ankle injury, Breida has just 13 touches over two games for 75 yards. He also fumbled twice last Sunday, losing one. With the emergence of Raheem Mostert and continued presence of Tevin Coleman, Breida has been used on just under 20 percent of snaps. Fantasy managers trusting the third-year back will be hoping for a touchdown or at least a couple of his patented chunk runs to return meaningful value on Saturday.
San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida carried four times for 11 yards and caught both of his targets for six yards in Week 15 versus the Atlanta Falcons. He also fumbled twice, losing one of them.
Fantasy Spin: Breida is probably the most dynamic running back San Francisco has, but his two-fumble performance in this one figures to keep him from being able to forge a committee with Raheem Mostert until the playoffs or next season. With the fantasy season coming to an end for most folks in Week 16, redraft owners can probably cut him if they need the roster spot.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida had a rough game against the Falcons in Week 15. He fumbled twice, though only one was recovered by the Falcons. He had four carries in the game and managed just 11 yards and he caught both of his targets in the passing game for six yards. Raheem Mostert was the focal point of the 49ers' run game again this week. Mostert had 14 carries in the game. Breida was equalled in carries by Tevin Coleman, though Coleman outperformed him, gaining 40 yards on his four carries thanks to a 37-yard rush.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida ran well in his return from injury in Week 14 (9.0 YPC) but played just 12 snaps. With Raheem Mostert taking charge of the backfield, Breida and Tevin Coleman will battle for touches, rendering both risky flex options. Averaging a healthy 5.2 yards per tote this year, Breida has outplayed Coleman, giving him the slight edge in change-of-pace duties against a beatable Falcons rush defense. However, Breida has been a nonfactor in the red zone and his uncertain opportunity share makes him a relatively low-ceiling play.
San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida rushed six times for 54 yards, adding one catch on his lone target at the New Orleans Saints in Week 14 on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Fantasy Spin: RB Raheem Mostert seems to have earned himself the primary share of touches, but we've seen Breida explode a number of times with limited handles. He's firmly entrenched as the second-best fantasy option of this backfield. Given his versatility and home run ability, Breida is a flex play vs. the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15.
San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida handled six carries for 54 yards and caught a four-yard pass in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints. Breida ripped a few nice gains in his first game since Week 10 but played well behind a surging Raheem Mostert who amassed 109 scrimmage yards and two scores on Sunday. Positively, Breida was the primary change-of-pace back while nominal starter Tevin Coleman barely played and saw just three touches. With Mostert outplaying everyone in the backfield, Breida and his fantasy managers will probably need to settle for 7-10 touches per game without much upside. Breida will be a flex option in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons.
San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.
Fantasy Spin: Breida will return to the lineup after missing a few games and should receive some carries in the running game. He will be facing a good New Orleans Saints defense this week but could still be at least a flex option in leagues.
San Francisco 49ers S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) and DT Jullian Taylor (elbow) were unable to practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints. WR Dante Pettis (knee), OT Joe Staley (finger) and WR Marquise Goodwin (knee, foot) were limited Friday, Dec. 6, and are listed as questionable. RB Matt Breida (ankle), DE Dee Ford (quad, hamstring), DL D.J. Jones (ankle), TE George Kittle (knee, ankle), WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder), WR Emmanuel Sanders (ribs) and CB Richard Sherman (knee) were able to practice in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.
San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 5.
Fantasy Spin: Breida seems set to make his return. He's a high-floor flex play as he's likely to handle the bulk of the passing-game work in a timeshare with Raheem Mostert.
San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Fantasy Spin: Raheem Mostert has scored touchdowns in consecutive games, and he had a 19-146-1 rushing line last week. It'll be interesting to see what kind of role Breida has alongside Mostert and Tevin Coleman. The New Orleans Saints are one of the best teams against RBs over the last five weeks, and as crazy as it sounds, it might be best to stay away from this situation until more is clear. It's fantasy playoff time, and they could go with the hot hand of the three.
