The Tennessee Titans acquired quarterback Ryan Tannehill from the Miami Dolphins on Friday and signed him to a one-year deal worth $7 million guaranteed and worth up to $12 million with incentives. The Dolphins will receive a seventh-round pick in this year's draft and a 2020 fourth-round pick in exchange. Tennessee will also get a 2019 sixth-rounder. Tannehill, a former eighth overall pick in 2012, never lived up to his draft status while going 42-46 over six seasons in Miami. He has a career 62.8 completion percentage and an 87 passer rating and will have zero fantasy appeal as Marcus Mariota's backup in his new digs. The rebuilding Dolphins are likely to look to the draft for their next signal-caller, especially after Teddy Bridgewater elected to re-sign with the Saints this week.

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was traded to the Tennessee Titans for a 2020 fourth-round selection on Friday, March 15. The teams will also swap picks in the 2019 NFL draft, as Tennessee will acquire a sixth-round pick from Miami and send a seventh-round selection to the Dolphins. Tannehill subsequently signed a one-year contract worth $7 million guaranteed - including incentives that could drive the total value of the deal over $12 million - with the Titans.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was traded to the Tennessee Titans for an undisclosed return on Friday, March 15.

Mar 15 3:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was traded to the Tennessee Titans for an undisclosed return on Friday, March 15. The Titans subsequently signed him to a one-year undisclosed contract.

Fantasy Spin: He'll enter 2019 as a backup, but it's a solid landing spot for Tannehill in that he is in many ways a mirror image of Marcus Mariota, who struggles to stay healthy - like Tannehill. There will be no quarterback controversy in Tennessee and Tannehill will not be worthy of fantasy consideration for as long as Mariota is playing, but the Titans' offense should at least be functional if/when Mariota goes down.

Mar 13 6:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is expected to receive interest from the New Orleans Saints if the Saints are not able to re-sign free-agent QB Teddy Bridgewater.

Mar 11 2:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill may find an interested suitor in the New York Jets - and former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase - if Tannehill is eventually released as expected, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Fantasy Spin: It's easy to connect the dots given the history between Gase and Tannehill, but it also makes sense considering the Jets may not be willing to wait and see if Josh McCown - who will turn 40 this summer - will return for another year as a backup. Sam Darnold is the present and future in New York, so Tannehill will be a clear backup if he follows Gase to the Big Apple.

Mar 2 1:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has been made available to other teams in a trade, but the Dolphins have made most of the contact with teams at this point, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Tannehill will not return to the Dolphins next season, but the team is hoping to receive some compensation for him instead of cutting him. He probably will not be able to find a starting job this offseason and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Feb 6 12:40pm ET

The Miami Dolphins officially hired New England Patriots wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea as their next offensive coordinator on Wednesday, according to a source. O'Shea worked as a position coach for a decade under Bill Belichick in New England, but he'll now run an offense for the first time in the NFL. Miami is at a crossroads right now and is expected to move on from quarterback Ryan Tannehill, so there offense could be a struggle next season under O'Shea. Finding a franchise signal caller will be at the top of the team's to-do list, and they must add better weapons around running back Kenyan Drake and receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson.

Feb 5 12:30am ET

Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said on Monday that the team will definitely consider drafting a quarterback this year. He also praised new addition Jake Rudock while saying that no decision has been made on Ryan Tannehill, although the team is fully expected to move on this offseason. Rudock has only thrown five passes in the NFL, so he's unlikely to be the realistic starter in 2019 no matter what. Ideally, the Dolphins want to find their franchise quarterback early in the 2020 draft, according to multiple sources. Owner Stephen Ross is enamored with Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, and the team is also intrigued by Oregon's Justin Herbert. There's a good chance the Dolphins go with a stop-gap option under center in 2019 in what is fully expected to be a rebuilding season.

Feb 2 1:20pm ET

The Miami Dolphins will officially hire New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores as their next head coach after the Super Bowl on Monday, according to NFL Network's Mike Giardi. It will be Flores' first head-coaching gig in the NFL. He's likely to hire Packers assistant Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator and former Lions and Colts head coach Jim Caldwell as an assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach. The Dolphins went 7-9 in 2018 and will be moving on from quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason. They will be in a rebuilding phase for the next couple of seasons.

Feb 1 5:20pm ET

The Miami Dolphins are expected to release quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason, but they aren't expected to bring in either Nick Foles or Teddy Bridgewater as their next quarterback. Miami would love to trade Tannehill, but the chances of that happening are not great given his contract. He would cost $18.7 million in base salary in 2019 and $19.5 million in 2020, and the acquiring team would also have to give up a draft pick. A team source said the Dolphins like the idea of taking Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa if he's available in the 2020 draft. Tannehill missed all of the 2017 season with a knee injury and has been terribly mediocre in his seven years in the NFL. He hasn't played in a full season since 2015 and won't necessarily get a shot at a starting gig on the open market if he finds himself there.

Feb 1 12:43am ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is expected to be released during the offseason, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero, who believes the chances of the team finding a trading partner for Tannehill are 'not great' due to his contract.

Fantasy Spin: It's been expected that Tannehill would be gone, but it now appears the Dolphins won't recoup anything of value in return. Tannehill was once considered a QB on the rise, but injuries and ineffectiveness have made his future a giant question mark. If he lands in an advantageous spot he might be worth a late-round flier, though even that might be overly ambitious.

Jan 27 2:20pm ET

New England Patriots wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea is the favorite to be hired as the Miami Dolphins next offensive coordinator, according to a league source. Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores is expected to become Miami's next head coach, but nothing can become official until after the Super Bowl. Flores has worked with O'Shea in New England since 2009, and O'Shea is considered an up-and-coming offensive mind. He'd have his work cut out for him in Miami, as they finished 31st on offense last year by averaging just 289.9 yards per game, the lowest in franchise history. The Dolphins also ranked 26th in scoring at 19.9 points per game. The biggest question is whether they will keep quarterback Ryan Tannehill around.

Jan 24 3:13pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill could face a contract restructure in the form of a pay cut this offseason, but the Dolphins still face $13.4 million in dead cap with Tannehill, according to Spotrac. He's a candidate to be released or traded.

Fantasy Spin: When Tannehill hasn't been injured he's largely been a disappointment. It would be understandable for Miami to lower his salary. No matter how much money Tannehill makes, he can be avoided in leagues with traditional lineups.

Jan 12 4:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is one of the quarterbacks the Jacksonville Jaguars are considering pursuing this offseason, according to sources.

Fantasy Spin: Tannehill is expected to be traded or released this offseason, but it is not known how many teams may have interest. He has been limited to 24 games over the last two seasons because of injuries and probably would only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he starts for the Jaguars in 2019.

Jan 11 5:50pm ET

The Miami Dolphins have narrowed the focus of their search for their next head coach to New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores, according to sources. Nothing is official yet and the Dolphins can't make the move until the Patriots season is over. Miami moved on from Adam Gase after several mediocre years with him at the helm. There are a lot of questions on both sides of the ball that the team must address this offseason, most notably whether the organization will cut bait on quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Jan 4 8:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is expected to be shopped to other teams this offseason.

Fantasy Spin: Tannehill is not expected to return to the Dolphins next season and likely will be released if the team is not able to trade him. He could find a starting job next year but likely will be no more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Dec 31 7:43pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is expected to be released or traded this offseason.

Fantasy Spin: Tannehill has held to under 200 yards in each of his last three games and seven of the 11 games this season. He may be able to find a starting job with another team but should only be a low-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback in leagues next season.

Dec 31 3:10pm ET

The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Adam Gase after three seasons on Monday, according to a source. The team also promoted general manager Chris Grier to oversee football operations and reassigned Mike Tannenbaum, who was previously vice president of football operations. Gase didn't help his cause in the 42-17 Week 17 loss to the Bills. Gase finished 23-25 in his three years, with Miami's offense near the bottom of the league every year. Miami seems to be set on a rebuild in order to get younger. The Dolphins have already requested interviews with Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for the vacancy. The biggest question for Miami moving forward is whether to stick with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. They also need to get Kenyan Drake more involved in the backfield and upgrade their receiving corps.
