Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Rams QB Blake Bortles received a one-year, $1 million deal from the Rams, which will be subtracted from the $6.5 million the Jacksonville Jaguars owe him.
The Los Angeles Rams signed free-agent quarterback Blake Bortles to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. The former long-time Jaguars starter, Bortles will now serve as the backup to Jared Goff and won't have any fantasy value. The third overall pick in the 2014 draft impressed in 2017 but regressed big time last season and was benched midseason.
Free-agent QB Blake Bortles (Jaguars) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams Monday, March 18. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Free-agent QB Blake Bortles (Jaguars) will visit the Los Angeles Rams Monday, March 18, according to a team source.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was released Wednesday, March 13.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is expected to be released in light of the signing of QB Nick Foles.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is expected to released before March 17 when he is due a $1 million roster bonus, in the opinion of a team beat writer.
Fantasy Spin: Blake Bortles had his QB1 fantasy moments over the last few seasons in J'ville, but he's likely headed for a stint of backup duty in a new locale.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will remain with the team for now, a source said Friday, March 8, but that could change next week if the Jaguars land a free-agent quarterback.
Fantasy Spin: It looks as if Bortles avoided the Jags' roster purge Friday, but his days in J'ville -- and fantasy relevancy for the time being -- are down to a precious few.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles believes he'll be elsewhere in 2019, saying, 'I don't think I'll be back next year. Being honest, I envision I'll be somewhere else next year.' It's also possible the Jaguars may delay cutting him until 2020, when his dead cap hit would be just $5 million instead of $16.5 million this offseason.
Fantasy Spin: Despite coming up just one game short of the Super Bowl only a year ago, Bortles couldn't survive this season as the starting quarterback, losing the job to backup Cody Kessler due to inconsistency. The former No. 3 overall draft pick seems more likely to leave town and compete for a starting job elsewhere.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles 15-for-28 for 107 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception against the Houston Texans in Week 17. He also rushed for 15 yards on four carries during the game.
Fantasy Spin: Bortles likely will not return to the Jaguars next season and will have trouble finding another starting job. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues next season even if he starts for a team.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is starting in Week 17 on Sunday, Dec. 30, in what's likely his last game with the team.
Fantasy Spin: Bortles has topped 20 fantasy points in only two of his last six starts and even with with the inactives and uncertainty of Week 17, Bortles is nothing more than a two-QB or deep-league QB flyer.
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said that quarterback Blake Bortles will start in Week 17 against the Texans. Bortles was benched in favor of Cody Kessler several weeks ago, but the Jags will go back to Bortles after Kessler predictably failed. Bortles has more upside than Kessler, but he's been awful in his own right in 2018 and has completed just 60.8 percent of his passes for 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Bortles will be a weak QB2 in two-QB leagues against Houston.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will start the season finale against the Houston Texans in Week 17.
Fantasy Spin: There are more fruitful propositions than playing Bortles against the Texans. He's two-QB league fodder only.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles replaced QB Cody Kessler during a 17-7 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 because his mobility was better suited to handle Miami's pass rush, according to head coach Doug Marrone. He completed five of his six passes for 39 yards and rushed four times for 25 yards.
Fantasy Spin: It remains to be seen if Bortles or Kessler will start the finale, but regardless of who is under center, they can be ignored by fantasy owners.
The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to move on from quarterback Blake Bortles in the offseason. "I'm told that Blake Bortles's future does not include the Jacksonville Jaguars," Ian Rapoport said on Up to the Minute Live. "Not that this is a surprise at all. But they are expected to move on from him in this offseason." It's "unlikely" they'll trade him after signing him to a three-year, $54 million deal last offseason, which included $26.5 million in guaranteed money and a $15 million signing bonus. If they release him, they'll take a $16.5 million dead-money salary cap hit. Bortles has been awful this year after leading the team to the AFC Championship a season ago, and he was benched in favor of Cody Kessler in Week 13. He has thrown 13 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and has 2,572 yards in 11 games this year to go along with a 46.8 QB rating. Bortles will try to latch on with another team as a backup if the Jags get rid of him.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is expected to be released following the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy Spin: Surprise level: Zero. While Bortles wasn't the only problem in J-Ville this season, he wasn't part of the solution, either. Still, you can expect someone to take a chance on Bortles, who doesn't turn 27 until April.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles has been benched in favor of Cody Kessler, according to head coach Doug Marrone.
Fantasy Spin: It's been apparent for some time the Jaguars have next to no confidence in Bortles, so it probably didn't help his cause that he threw two interceptions against the Buffalo Bills. It's hard to say if Kessler will end up being an upgrade, but Jacksonville owes it to itself to find out if he can be a serviceable backup option at the very least in 2019.
