Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette won't face discipline from the team following his recent arrest for driving with a suspended license, head coach Doug Marrone said Tuesday, April 16.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette has RB1 upside, but he should be valued as a RB2 with all the other factors, including his injury history, included.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was arrested Thursday, April 11, for allegedly driving with a suspended license. He paid a $1,508 bond and was released. The third-year running back's licenses had been suspended last November when he was cited for driving 37 miles per hour in a 25 mile-per-hour zone. He had not paid the required fine.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette has dealt with injuries and been accused of having a bad attitude, now he adds this to the unflattering list of baggage. We know that Fournette is capable of achieving RB1 status, but if these distractions persist he may be a fantasy disappointment in 2019.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette has and will continue to work out with new University of Wyoming director of sports performance Ben Iannacchione, who spent six of the past seven seasons working in the strength and conditioning program at LSU - Fournette's alma mater. Fournette also spoke with executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin, who still has 'full confidence' in the player he selected No. 4 overall in 2017. 'With Leonard, a prepared Leonard coming into camp with a mindset that he discussed and we talked about ... I have full confidence in him. He does have some things he's got to prove when he comes back about his preparation, but he's a young, young player, he loves football, had an outstanding year, had a very disappointing year, and I think he wants to - we want him to be a great player and I think he's in the same mindset,' Coughlin said.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette was among the bigger disappointments in fantasy in 2018, twice missing an extended period of time with hamstring injuries and earning a suspension for coming off the sidelines to throw a punch in Week 12. Owners have every right to avoid him for his lack of durability, but he is also shaping up to be a value pick if he slides into the late third round area of fantasy drafts. Until further notice, he will still be the focal point of the offense. He'll also have plenty of motivation on what should be an improved offense.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette met with executive vice president Tom Coughlin and other members of the team's front office to clear the air regarding his up-and-down 2018 season and perceived negative attitude, according to sources. The meeting seemingly went well for both sides and they are prepared to move in a positive direction.
Fantasy Spin: There had been whispers of Fournette possibly leaving the Jaguars after two years, but those were unfounded and seem to have already been quenched. There is risk in drafting Fournette, leading with the fact that he has missed 11 games in his first two seasons. The talent is evident, though, and he must still be viewed as a second or third-round fantasy draft pick.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette is not expected to be released during the offseason, according to NFL.com's Tom Pelissero. Fournette was criticized by Tom Coughlin, the team's executive vice president of football operations, for 'disrespectful' behavior during the team's Week 17 loss, and there were also reports that the remaining guaranteed money in Fournette's contract was voided by the Jaguars due to his suspension earlier in the season.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette has been solid for the Jags, though thus far he hasn't been the game changer that other recent first-round backs like Saquon Barkley and Ezekiel Elliott have been. The LSU product has also missed 11 of 32 games during his two seasons, creating a medical red flag moving forward. Heading into 2019 he looks like a borderline RB2/RB3 candidate depending on what changes the offseason brings.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was stripped of the guaranteed money in his contract due to his suspension, according to head coach Doug Marrone.
Fantasy Spin: That certainly won't make Fournette happy, but there isn't much fantasy impact on this news. He is too talented not to utilize in 2019, and he'll be on the back end of the RB1 group.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 17 game.
Jacksonville Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye (toe), PK Josh Lambo (groin) and OT Josh Wells (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and have been ruled out for Week 17. RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) did not practice and is listed as doubtful. CB D.J. Hayden (groin) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable. FS Tashaun Gipson (foot), QB Cody Kessler (shoulder) and CB Jalen Ramsey (toe) were limited during practice but are not on the injury report. WR DJ Chark (quadriceps) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report.
Jacksonville Jaguars CB CB A.J. Bouye (toe), K Josh Lambo (groin) and RT Josh Wells (concussion) on Friday, Dec. 28, were ruled out for Week 17. RB Leonard Fournette (foot/ankle) is listed as doubtful.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) is listed as doubtful for Week 17 against the Houston Texans.
Fantasy Spin: Carlos Hyde is questionable with a knee injury, so the Jaguars may be forced to go with T.J. Yeldon and seventh-round rookie David Williams. Fournette has undoubtedly had a disappointing season, although he never could seem to get right physically and watched his offensive linemen drop like flies throughout the season. He'll likely be viewed as an RB2 in 2019 drafts.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) was out of practice Friday, Dec. 28.
Fantasy Spin: His status appears grim for Week 17. Carlos Hyde could be an RB2 against the Houston Texans.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 27.
Fantasy Spin: Owners will know more about Fournette's status in the next day or two. He can be a low-end No. 1 or No. 2 running back if he is active for the game.
Jacksonville CB A.J. Bouye (toe), PK Josh Lambo (groin) and OL Josh Wells (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 26. RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) and QB Cody Kessler (shoulder) were limited in practice, while WR DJ Chark (quadriceps) practiced in full.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) was listed as a limited participant Wednesday, Dec. 26.
Fantasy Spin: If Fournette is able to play he should be treated more as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in Week 17, as the Houston Texans rank fourth in rush defense and they're still fighting hard for better playoff seeding.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette rushed 18 times for 43 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 28 yards in a 17-7 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 16.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette has been held under 50 rushing yards in three straight games, and with no threat of a passing attack to scare defenses, he is going to remain a volume-based flex option against Houston in Week 17.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last two games but has received at least 10 carries in six of his seven games this season. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (foot) was a full participant in practice for the second day in a row Thursday, Dec. 20.
Fantasy Spin: There's no doubt Fournette will play in Week 16 but it remains to be seen what impact he can make on championship matchups with quarterback Cody Kessler under center. Although Fournette has totaled fewer than 100 yards from scrimmage the last two games combined, he still may be of use as an RB2.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (foot) was able to practice in full on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette might be ready to go in Week 16, but he is an extremely risky fantasy play. He was active last week, but the coaching staff said they wanted to look at David Williams instead. The Dolphins have a leaky run defense, but Fournette might not get a chance to tear them up.
Jacksonville Jaguars WR D.J. Chark (quadriceps), S Ronnie Harrison (knee), PK Josh Lambo (groin), OT Jermey Parnell (knee) and S Jarrod Wilson (foot, personal) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19. RB Leonard Fournette (foot) took part in a full practice session.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was not injured in Week 15 but ran only one time in the second half - for 25 yards - so the coaching staff could get a closer look at David Williams, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Fournette also served as the kickoff returner in Week 15 after not having played that role since he was a freshman in college.
Fantasy Spin: Fournette confirmed "that was the game plan coming in." It's almost unthinkable that a coaching staff likely on its way out would sit its offensive star so the Jaguars could see their seventh-round pick in action. It is now clear owners should have been suspicious when Jacksonville made Carlos Hyde inactive. Fournette has a mouthwatering matchup in Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins, but owners may have to bench him unless the coaching staff commits to giving him his full workload next week.
